In my opinion, the berry blossom cake is too sweet and too creamy. The fruits are fresh, but the cake bread and the cream is just too much.

Im so sad that this place is closed down. I loved their banana cream pie and berry blossom cake! Also, their coffee! They make the best vanila latte ever. What should I do when I crave them? Still can’t believe there is no more susina bakery. miss everything from there :(

Why are they closed? Where can I go to talk about my feelings??? I loved this place so much. The ambience, the aesthetic, the turkey panini. What evil Sith Lord is responsible for this decision? I’ve been coming here for 6 years. On my laptop. So many life mistakes and rejections were made in that beautiful corner of Susina Bakery. Where am I going to take my failure now? Starbucks?! COMEON. –sobs to self–

I went to Susina this morning and the doors were locked with a sign was posted on the front door. They have closed their retail operation«…to focus on the wholesale side of the business». Sad. Thanks for many great years.

This review is only for the Italian bite size assortment cookies, I have not tried anything else yet. The only way to describe them are lightly sweetened delicate treats. My favorite was the raspberry filled shortbread. They are kinda pricey at 20 bucks per pound, but I think it is well worth it. They would be a nice compliment at any event or gathering, spread out on a big platter would be a nice presentation. Next time I will be trying the hyped up chocolate bear cake and i got a glimpse of a slice of the strawberry shortcake, looked pretty scrumptious.

Please don’t close!!! Everything from the banana cream pie to the berry blossom cake and bear cake is delicious! Will miss the atmosphere here, the dessert, and the memories made over my past college years.

CAN’T BELIEVETHISPLACEISCLOSING!!! I AMHEARTBROKEN. Their cakes are heavenly and cookies just as good. My favorite is the berry blossom cake and the bear cake. Not too sweet, the perfect consistency and hits the spot every time. Also, the best banana crème pie i’ve ever had. I’m still in shock…

We actually came in to grab a capaccino and a macchiato after I had a big lunch so we skipped any of their sweet offerings. The drinks were legit and strong just like how we like it. And hopefully next time I ll be able to try their sweets since everything looked so yum. It’s a nice little coffee house and dessert spot that offers ample sitting inside and out. And the boys behind the counter brought out drinks outside with a smile. Will definitely return when I’m in the area again.

Susina was the first stop that my pastry school friend and I made in our crawl down Beverly. We are both professional bakers now, and our expectations are understandably high. This review is based on only one purchase, as we were trying to pace ourselves for the night ahead. After surveying the case full of delicious-looking items(including one banana cream tart that looked exactly like how we made them at Tartine), we decided on a piece of tiramisu. A favorite item of both of us, we were quite excited. However, the tiramisu was a huge downer. I am not a cake fan in general, but tiramisu never usually fell prey to the pitfall of most cakes: dry layers. Tiramisu is typically soaked in liquer and is moist throughout. This one was not at all. It tasted basically like a frosted cake and nothing more. I’d be interested to return to see if any other items are better, because the display there is pretty impressive.

Finally had a chance to visit this bakery and try their well known Berry Blossom cake, which was nothing spectacular. It was good basic vanilla cake with layers of whipped cream and some berries inside.

Another one that Peter and I stumbled by accident. Nicely decorated place, lots of selection, lots of seats and very friendly staff.

This review if only for the chocolate bear cake! What an amazing, decadent chocolate Devils food cake. With every mouthful, there is an explosion of white chocolate mousse and Milk chocolate chunks covered in chocolate shavings. The best part of this all its not overly sweet. I bought this cake twice and it ceases to never stop me. Definitely come here for great customer service and delicious bakeries!

I traveled 1+ hours just to eat the berry blossom cake! I’m not sure if it was the anticipation or that they changed their recipe, but I was actually a bit disappointed! I don’t remember there being meringue bits covering the outside of the cake, but this time, it turned the once-perfectly-sweetened(light) cream into something overdone and way too sweet. Once I got past the light airy cream, I was brought back to a blissful place. The cold liquidy cream oozed out with every bite… just like how I remembered. You can’t go wrong with this cake every time. I also decided to try the banana cream pie that everyone is talking about… mmm how do I say this politely? Marie Callendar’s is better. Spend your $ 7 on another slice of berry blossom cake instead. :)

It was my brother-in-laws birthday and I ordered his favorite pie — key-lime — without testing it before giving. It was better than I expected and he loved it. I also got a small pecan pie — delicious, banana cream pie — yummy, and bread pudding — amazingly light. The star though was the key-lime pie. The guys behind the counter were also very helpful and nice. I may have to come here more often.

I love coming here to just sit and talk with friends. They also have yummy little cookies, huge slices of cakes and other baked goodies. I think they also serve sandwiches but I personally have never ordered one. It’s a chill little spot, plenty of seating. If you’re in the area, stop on by.

I have been waiting to review since it is my 200th review! I think Susina’s is worthy of this milestone. Now, I can only talk about the triple berry blossom cake since I have only purchased this from Susina’s. Every year, for my mom’s birthday, I always get her the triple berry blossom cake since it is her favorite cake. And let me tell you, my mom is not one easy woman to please. It is not overly sweet and the vanilla sponge cake is so moist and light. The white chocolate mousse is so light and airy and decorated with meringue and white chocolate shavings. I usually don’t eat the cream part of most cakes but this cake, I would lick the plate if I were eating it alone. I usually call the day before to put in an order for the cake but there have been times when I have walked in and purchased a whole cake(9 inch for $ 40). They have a smaller 7 inch cake for $ 28 but you must pre-order this(along with other size cakes).

I was on the look out for a strawberry shortcake(or any berry cake) for my boyfriend’s birthday. I honestly hadn’t heard great things about Susina from a friend, but holy moly, Susina’s BERRYBLOSSOMCAKE is amazing! The dessert menu describes it as, «Three layers of vanilla sponge cake brushed with orange liqueur; filled with white chocolate mousse and fresh berries. Decorated with crumbled meringue and white chocolate shavings» Usually cake can be dry, but the sponge cake was very moist and easy to eat after a heavy meal. My favorite part was the crumbled meringue on the outside yum! The crème was also not heavy, which was a plus. My two friends who don’t even like cake went for seconds, and they’re even considering ordering it as their wedding cake! If that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does. For a party of 10, I ordered the 9 inch, which has a hefty price tag of $ 40, but after you taste it, you’ll see that it’s worth the extra money. Service: I was able to quickly and easily order it over the phone. It was ready for me when I got there, but they did forget the happy birthday writing, which they quickly took care of. The writing was written in milk chocolate and written on top of a white chocolate circle. Parking: There’s street parking, but there’s also a small lot behind Susina for free. I would definitely order from them again!

Our roommate brought back 1 of each cookie and I instantly fell in LOVE! Loved how each cookie had different textures but still maintained that nutty & shortbread taste. Some crumbly, some chewy, some hard & crunchy. Sweetness level was on point. Cookie Heaven. I cannot wait to go back and try their cakes and whatever else they may have! I finished EVERYTHING… That was a lot of cookies… Beware! Too many of these cookies cannot be good for that belly!

Susina Bakery & Café is located near a corner, right next to a Starbucks. There is a small parking lot behind this eatery and also street parking(make sure to read the signs to avoid any tickets). I came by here last night with my husband around 7:45 pm. This was our first time coming by here(the only reason why we came here was because I saw an overall 4 star rating, at the time of this review, and was in the area). We were acknowledged by an employee behind the counter, who said she would help us soon. As I looked at the display case of baked goods and desserts, I noticed right away that there were no prices(I hate it when places do this… normally this means that the desserts are pricey). Anyways, when the employee was done, she ended up asking this Asian couple next to us what they wanted. I just looked at her and tried to get her attention to tell her we were next. She apologized and helped me get the banana cream pie and the chocolate molten cake. I was pretty surprised that it ended up costing me $ 15 when I got the register. Since we took this to go, I told my husband that this better be the best darn banana cream pie we’ve ever had because it is pretty expensive for $ 9, especially at the small size. Banana Cream Pie(4.5 inches, serve 2), $ 9– This small banana cream pie was good, but wasn’t the best one that I have ever had. For $ 7.99 you can get a banana cream pie at least 2 times the size at Coco’s and is delicious. Anyways, this small banana cream pie did not have much custard but plenty of cream. There is a whole lot of banana slices(but banana’s are cheap) and a nice pie crust(but it is hard and would prefer a more flaky one). There is also chocolate shavings on top of the whipped cream. Chocolate Molten Cake, $ 6– This small little cake is quite chocolaty rich. The chocolate ganache is quite decadent. There is this thin middle layer that reminds me of one of those ferrero rocher chocolate candies which was a nice touch. But still don’t think this cake is worth $ 6. — — — — — — — — — — — — – (Total $ 15 even) This eatery is rather on the small side and reminds me of Tartine Bakery and Café in San Francisco, as they have a similar set up and both sell overly priced food. Both have that appealing bakery case(but Tartine actually displays their prices next to their desserts and does not have a parking lot). This place is just too foo-foo for me, I don’t see myself coming back here again.

I found heaven!!! It’s right hereeee. Berry Blossom Cake: The first time I had a taste of heaven was early October at a birthday celebration. I really don’ t even know where to begin… The cake looks really sweet like its covered with white chocolate shavings but let me tell you, it’s definitely not overly sweet! The berries add a nice touch of flavor and the cake is moist but not soggy with a hint of milky flavor. This really is perfection. Mint Lemonade: Oookay after waiting about almost 8 minutes for a lemonade, I was getting a little impatient thinking it was just pre-made lemonade with crushed mint. Boy was I wrong. There was NO mint pieces in the lemonade at all as it was all blended together. SUPER refreshing. Like anywhere in LA, parking stinks but its worth the trip. Nice exterior which gives it an old school royal feel.
