Yummy Smoothies, perfect sandwiches. I loved my lunch, super friendly staff!

This is a small but cute corner coffee shop owned by a Japanese girl. They sometimes make good ice blended drinks better than other large chains. It’s located at the edge of Little Tokyo. Cute and neat. Their veggie burger was good and interesting in a good way. There were slices of cucumber and tomato in the burger and they are really thick, I mean, thicker than the veggie patty. They were also sliced unevenly. Very home made. Vanilla chai latte was good too. I will try pastries next time. Cookies also looked good. I will try them next time, too.

I REALLY wanted to like this place because it is conveniently located, pretty cozy, and the food is decently priced. The latte I got was sub-par and very tasteless. One of the worst lattes I have ever had. Next, I got a tuna melt sandwich, which looked like something I could very easily have made at home, didn’t fill me up at all since it was so tiny. I ended up spending a total of 7 bucks on my coffee and drink which is a good price for DTLA, but I was left incredibly unsatisfied. I will say that the ladies that work there were very sweet, nice, and accommodating, but even that won’t make up for what I disliked about this place.

Too be fair I have not had their coffee but any café without WiFi is redonkulous.

Dropped in. Bought an iced coffee, a bag and a T-shirt. They didn’t have iced tea. But they had tea… and water… and ice. I know that you can make iced tea out of that. Super cute shirts with really unique sayings. Discount bin is $ 10. Bags were $ 25. Staff was a little confused but still very pleasant. If I worked nearby I could see stopping in here regularly for a snack but as it stands I probably won’t be back unless I want a cool shirt.

I work across the street and come here early mornings to get a tea and do some work. Though there is no wi-fi, I find that it’s a nice space to get some stuff done. Nick who works here is a good guy and do everything he can to take care of you. Free parking if you need it. Good selection of loose leaf teas and I hear they have good coffee and other drinks. Café selection changes but it all sounds pretty good though I haven’t tried any food yet. They have special events as well so come and check it out.

I’ve been here once before, and had an okay experience. I wanted a cup of their $ 1 Iced Tea, which they delivered, but it took longer to get that cup of iced tea than it took to order it.(Often times, the iced tea is already made, and all they do it fill up ice and pour the tea into the cup. Easy breezy.) Still feeling sleepy after studying for a bit, I decided I wanted to try another coffeehouse, to see if I can find any other places that might serve some good coffee. Hearing my stomach rumbling, I decided to head over to Little Tokyo to the Curry House To Go and to return back to this café(even though there was a café in that plaza, but decided to do the walk to this one.) First thing I noticed was the sign promptly displayed in the front, no free Wi-Fi, in fact no Wi-Fi at all. For a café/coffeehouse NOT to have a Wi-Fi is a big no no. Walking into the empty place, I order an Iced White Choco.(white chocolate, I guess, just ran out of space to put the rest), and the guy seemed kind of lost. A REALLY bad sign, especially if he’s the only guy that’s working there. And they only offered one size for iced drinks too. Hmm. I turn around and see a cool screen printing store, and it seems pretty reasonably price(I used to have to get shirts for school, and even though I wasn’t the person who got the estimate, I roughly know what the prices were). I’m assuming the guy running the place also ran the screen printing. After a few minutes, the guy returns with a cup of white liquid, which at first, I SWORE it was just milk and ice. Tasting it, it wasn’t what I thought it was, but moreso just sweet milk, without the milk taste. Probably will come back again, just for one more try, but wasn’t too happy about the service.

If I could do 0 stars, I would. First off, they do NOT have free Wifi. They have no Wifi at all. I was in the area for a meeting and looking for a place a grab lunch. I thought … hey, there’s a cute café. I walk in, it’s almost empty. At peak lunch time. Uh oh. A couple of ladies walked in just before me, and take a while to order, so after waiting in line for a minute I go to the bathroom to wash my hands. It’s locked. I then hear the cashier scream«Bathroom is for customers only!» Okaaayyyyy. So I have to wait in the line and buy my food first, THEN I’m allowed to wash my hands. Got it. So I do. I order a turkey ham & cheese croissant. Note, this is not a «turkey, ham & cheese» croissant. It’s «turkey ham». Ick. On the plus side, it’s only $ 3.50. On the downside, it’s been in the fridge and tastes like it. I then ask about getting a soda. How silly! For an obviously low-end coffee shop(the coffee is really cheap) their other drinks are all upscale. Even the water is Fiji. Weird. And no soda. Ok, so coffee shops don’t always have soda… that’s ok, I can forgive that. So now I leave my food on the counter(to the side) and go wash my hands. I come back to the cashier TAKINGMYFOOD. Apparently she didn’t know why it was sitting there. Never mind that she had JUST seen me move it there before she let me into the bathroom. Never mind that she had just insisted I order food before being allowed into the prized bathroom. I’m now not in the best of moods, but I get excited when I see couches with outlet plugs ready to go. I get my computer out and am ready to work. Then I find out that they no longer have wifi. Oh, and did I mention the couches are white, and therefore all stained? This place is just gross. Avoid at all costs.

What a great little place, plopped down at the outer edges of Little Tokyo! For starters, they always have their outdoor seating neatly arranged to create a very inviting corner near where the neighborhood suddendly changes to the much, uh, less neat Toy District. I’ve driven by it many times and been drawn to it but yesterday was the first time I took the time. So glad I did! The inside is like a lot of other loungey coffee houses, with couches, tables, wi fi, reading material. But what’s different is the nice light purple color and extreme orderliness of the place. It’s a very easy place to be comfortable in. The best part was the smoothie. Oh man, I loved the mocha smoothie with banana. It was way beyond what I expected to taste, wonderful surprise. Very sweet staff too. I shall return!

As far as café’s go… this is a neat little spot on the corner of little tokyo and the beginning of the wholesale district. They have cups of coffee for $ 1… and its GOOD coffee too. I just tried their coffee jello the other day with some friends and loved it! Who would have thought coffee and jello go so well! Anyone reading this really has to try it! Make sure to add some agave syrup on top :) The panini’s are good… i’ve only ever had the pesto tho but ts a nice change from subway and other little deli’s for lunch. They also have cold salads, a bean salad that was really good, and at the same time healthy. From their fresh food selections i think they only use natural ingredients and seasonings for most, so you don’t have to worry about what’s really in the food your eating. Everything is so light and fresh! They have free wifi too which is good. Id much rather sit in one of their white modern looking couches than in Starbucks. The café is a little out of the way, but is a wonderful hidden find! I think they even have live events here and there… but they don’t really advertise them so hopefully i will hear about one in the future.

Threads is located on the north west corner of San Pedro and 3rd. Parking entrance is immediately adjacent on San Pedro, north of 3rd Street. The gate automatically opens and closes. No validation is necessary. This place is clean, modern, and nicely decorated. It has free wifi access, and it’s very roomy inside with beautiful natural lighting. It was nice and quiet also. I can definitely see myself returning here to work on my computer. I ordered coffee and picked up a small Japanese cookie for my daughter. I would have stayed here but I had left something at my office. If this place had a display of better pastries, I would definitely give this place a 5 star. The pastries are wrapped in plastic and so are the sandwiches. They just don’t appear appetizing or fresh for that matter. I’m concerned as to how the owner(s) can pay rent. This place really needs to start serving better food and have more selection to make rent.

This is currently my favorite coffeeshop in LA. Here’s why: 1. Free Parking. 2. Free WiFi. 3. Yummy ginger, lemon, honey drink on ice for $ 1. 4. You can sit on your laptop and work for hours(and hours and hours) and it ain’t no thing. 5. Friendly staff /good service. 6. They have power strips with abundant outlets for laptops. This is a sign that laptop people are welcome. 7. No obnoxious music or wildly vacillating temperatures(i.e., it’s actually a pleasant place to sit). The hours are a bit funky(don’t open until 9AM on weekdays, 10AM on weekends), but I am thrilled to have finally, *finally* found a coffeeshop in LA that actually wants the laptop people. Yay!

I drive past this place on my way to work. I believe they just opened recently. From my perspective, all I can read from the banner they have outside is T-Shirts and Free Wi-Fi, so it didn’t strike me as a place where I can get food. But they do and so I’m excited to have something walking distance from Skid Row where I’m not gonna bump into one of our homeless clients, ha! Anyway, I ordered a ginger lemonade, a large cup of fruit(was a little boring, but sweet), a slice of broccoli/cheese quiche, and a black bean and corn salad. All this came out for a little over $ 11, not bad. Lemonade and quiche were just ok, but the corn/black bean salad was pretty good. They also have $ 1 coffee, organic or regular, and FREE Wi-Fi. I give it 3 stars, but waiting to see if their pastries and paninis are any good… Service is 4.5 stars though… oh, and FREE parking!
