Consistently terrible service. I even saw the owner curse at a customer because the owner didn’t understand the order. Deplorable. I have tried this place over the years and it’s been my experience that they don’t care much about their customers. My drinks have been hit and miss too; mostly miss. After watching the owner treat his customers with disrespect, I will never go there again.

My wife and I walked in, and approached the man behind the counter, as we were the only customers in the place. He didn’t speak, smile, gesture, or otherwise acknowledge he was even aware of our presence, despite directly facing us. After waiting 3 – 4 minutes for him to get off his cell phone(it sounded like a trivial, personal call), we left. I would characterize this as the rudest behavior I’ve ever experienced within a retail context. The jerk in question looked like the owner, so all the more reason not to patronize this establishment. In the event he is an employee, however, then it should be noted this happened today ie., Monday, September 13th(2010), at approximately 11:30 am.

Ew. I have been in a few times-each time HOPING that I will get a better experience. Uhhhhhh, NO. First off, bad attitudes, gossiping and no smiles are a sure way to lose customers. I went in last weekend to grab a quick coffee. I saw a chocolate croissant and asked for that. IMMEDIATELY the woman behind the counter puts it in the micowave. I thought that was odd. She did not ask if I wanted it heated. I told her I didn’t want it warmed. So she handed it to me. I got in the car, drove off, then took a bite. Only then did I realize that she was trying to hide the fact that it was at the LEAST a day old or more. It was hard. The chocolate was disgusting. She probably thought that if she heated it, I would not have notice the fact that it was 2nd rate leftover crap that should have been thrown in the garbage. I have finally learned my lesson. Caffe Florian is not there for the customers. Eww.

I enjoy going to little independent coffee houses for the ambiance and the coffee. This place seems to miss the mark on both. The coffee is served pump pots and I have pumped the remaining coffee out of a pot on more than once occasion. Yes, they do have pot with fresh coffee behind the counter, but you have to request it. Their espresso drinks are good. The service seems to be hit and miss. I have been there when the staff is eager to help and friendly, while other times the exact opposite. They do have some pretty tasty pastries, and that’s probably what brings me back here.

I live right next to this place and I’ve gone in a few times out of convenience. Their coffee is just ok but their loose-leaf tea is pretty good. They don’t take credit cards which is somewhat unfortunate. It may cost you an extra 2.50 to get cash for a one dollar cup of coffee. The staff has also been very rude to us. My sister brought in a pound of coffee and asked them if they would grind it for us and they gave her a hard time. It could be as simple as a yes or no. I also called them to see if they sold the New York Times and the woman who answered the phone repeated the question back to me in a very condescending manner as if asking ‘how dare you ask me that?’ They harass you and will ask you to leave if you stay too long working on your laptop. So long as you’re a paying customer you can use their wi-fi, but if you stay too long the owner will ask you to leave or buy something else because you’re using their electricity. Can’t say I’ll go back.

I stumbled into this place a long time ago because it was walking distance from the lab where I was working, and I have been going ever since. It is to date the best chai latte I have ever had, maybe because they actually have spices that they use, and not just some concentrate mixed with milk, and I have not been disappointed with any of their other drinks. Their ginger cookies are also fan-freaken-tastic if you get them while they are all chewy and soft. I may have to stop there for a lunch time snack now that I am writing this. It’s been far too long since I’ve had one of those cookies. Their staff is also a reason to go. After a few visits they know who you are and if you tend to get the same drinks, they remember that too. It’s always nice to go somewhere where you are not just another customer in line. I do wish they would accept credit cards though. Oh well.

Nice little coffee shop. The staff are fantastic. My little sister and brother go here EVERY day and swear by it. Oddly enough the Safeway in the same parking lot does not have a Starbucks as the others do. Hmmm.
