I have been wearing contact lenses for 45 years and never had a problem ordering new ones. The first pair I got from Eye Contact was worthless. They did not even test my vision with them when I picked them up, just said ‘let them know’ if I couldn’t see. I had to call to say they didn’t work. Had to go back again. The second pair was worse and so ill-fitted I couldn’t get one of them out. Scary. I called to say they weren’t right. They said come back in. How much time do they think I have for one pair of contacts? I have been on multiple business trips and dreaded going back to get another bad pair. I called and asked for my money back for the lenses(there was no value for me in the eye exam which I paid for, but I was writing that off). They said I waited too long, no refund for unusable lenses. It has been a horrible, time-consuming experience and a waste of money. Watch out!

I really like this place! The staff was really friendly and gave good personal attention and assistance when I needed to pick out frames that looked really good on me. I have now stared wearing contacts and, again, I got great assistance when trying to figure out what was best for my eyes.

I have to agree with the previous reviewers, Dr Vandenberg is a great doctor, but his office manager is a real piece of work. I would continue seeing Dr Vandenberg if he changed his office staff, but until that happens I would not recommend this office to anyone!!! The office manager is rude and arrogent and generally unplesant. Not a recommended office.

Dr. Vandenberg is through and very competent — he takes the time to explain what he is doing and what the results mean. I have always had eye issues(pupils don’t dilate properly) and so I have more experience than most people with OD’s. I would give HIM4 ½ stars. The TWO stars is for his extremely rude, arrogant and unprofessional staff. On a recent visit, they obviously eye you up and down to check out whether you are worth time spending on and take personal calls while you are standing at the desk. Any questions are responded to as if you are interrupting their clearly more important websurfing. I have experienced this several times. Summary: Love the doc, hate the staff.

They worry too much about extracting money for everything — even correcting their own perscriptions vs customer satisfaction. Too bad because it is convenient. After giving me a perscription that did not work, they would not give me my old perscription back until I paid them more money. He would not even provide me a free contact sample(of which they get many from suppliers) with my old perscription so that I could see for the weekend until I paid him money for another exam I did not need. I was blown away by their greed and callousness — this after going there for years and providing them thousands of dollars of my family’s business. No MORE!

We go to Dr. Vandenberg because he is the closest to our house and he takes our insurance. He is nice and it’s convenient, but my husband and I are both a little disappointed. Somehow, we end up paying more out of pocket than we expect. Dr. Vandenberg does these fancy eye photos that aren’t covered and we don’t get asked if we want them. Also, my husband and I are very happy with the contacts we’re currently using. However, they don’t have them in stock. Every year, we’re asked to try different ones. They never work out. My husband was so frustrated last year by his experience with trying different contacts out. He is running low on contacts, but he doesn’t want to go back. He worked with Dr. Vandenberg’s office manager, though. I didn’t have an issue with Dr. Vandenberg when I went this year. I now know that trying different brands is unnecessary and frustrating so I don’t do it. I place my order for contacts and received them very quickly. They offer to mail them for free, but we’re so close by, it’s unnecessary. I’ll keep going for convenience, but I’m tired of paying for the pictures. Nice selection of frames… all very cute.
