Tangles Salon

I don’t trust anyone else with my hair other than the girls at this salon. I’ve had great experiences with two stylists: Kaycee and Kristen. Both are so sweet and down to earth. I moved to SF a year ago but I still make the trek down here to get my hair done. What I like most is that they don’t try to push products on me and they give an honest opinion of what would look good on my hair. Love this salon!

Wow! Just to start… I never write reviews but I just had to for this place! I had the absolute best experience here. I am extremely picky with my hair and I’m always nervous before going into a hair appt. I was lucky enough to get Chrystal… She was unbelievable. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and she gave me the most perfect cut! I left feeling amazing and beyond satisfied! She did the perfect length and style. If you go here I defiantly recommend her, she is so thoughtful and genuinely cares about what her customers want. Thank you Tangles and thank you Chrystal!!!

I was new to the area and needed to find a place to get my balayage done. I read reviews and was recommended to Tangles, so I thought I would give it a try. I had my hair done by Rosanna, and she did an incredible job! I didn’t even know how to explain what I wanted, yet she gave me exactly what I was hoping for! I recently called to make another appointment with her, but found out she was booked a couple months out (which isn’t surprising). So I made an appointment that far out anyway, only to be returned with another call that there was a cancellation in a couple weeks, and they could fit me in! Fantastic customer service. The front desk people are always a pleasure. The studio is adorable and clean. Only bad experience was that while waiting for my appointment to start, I overheard one of the stylists (not Rosanna) complaining about other clients and employees to another employee, while working on a customer. I thought that was extremely unprofessional and just kept thinking «god I hope that’s not who is working with me today». Other than that, I had a great experience and can’t wait to go back in a couple weeks!

Disappointed with Sara (the Salon owner) and her consistent cancellations and rescheduling of hair appointments. Although she is a skilled hairdresser, as a client this is an unacceptable business practice, especially when it is a pattern — I would book with caution because chances are a Tangles representative will call two hours before your appointment to cancel and reschedule! Even if you try to reschedule good luck getting an appointment because Sara only works 2 days a week and will try to reschedule you with another Tangles hairdresser. My advice is to take your money and spend it at a different salon.

Wow is all I can say! First time here and Kirsten did an amazing job! I have super thick long hair and nobody was able to handle it for so long. Went in and her and Theresa came up with a plan and she did it. Totally took her time (over 5 hours with me), went piece by piece and it came out great. Theresa is also so amazing and knows her stuff. If you need a good hair person call these gals!!! Will be back in a few weeks for my touch up with Kirsten!

I had my hair done by Rosanna and it turned out beautiful! She didn’t have the exact color that I wanted on hand so she came up with a way to make it look as close as possible. I have had many compliments. Sooo glad that I found this place!

Nikki is very rude! My appt is at 1 and arrive at 1:12, but she told me her 15 min late policy and refuse to do facial for me. But i am 12 mins late, not 15 mins!

I love Lauren Thorpe! I have been going to her for about a year now possibly a bit longer. She’s amazing. From the minute you walk in the door to the minute you walk out. She’s so sweet, passionate and honest. She’s transformed my hair into everything I have ever wanted from previous hair stylist. I’ve refered a few different people to her and they wouldn’t say any less. Honestly! She’s awesome. :-)

Everyone at this salon is super sweet and always smiling. I can’t wait to go back!
Lauren did my hair, and OMG it’s everything I asked her for plus more. She is so passionate and focused on hair I could see it in her face as she was working on my hair. She is awesome, im a college student and on a budget and she understood i cant be going to the salon constantly. She gave me a balayage so the roots will grow seamlessly with much less visits to the salon.
I really recommend Lauren, she is so down to earth and AMAZING!!!
Honestly wish i had a before picture. She totally brightened my dull blonde harsh lined highlights and layered my hair so perfectly.

Just had another amazing facial by Nikki. She is so easy to talk too. I had this nasty pimple & I don’t know what kind miracle magic she did but it had decrease in size when I left. She is amazing. I recommend seeing her.
Plus, there are always treats up front to snack on.

Rosanna is awesome! I went in for the first time today after hearing good things about Tangles. Rosanna did exactly what I wanted but added things along the way which made everything turn out so much better! I went from dirty blond to great blonde and took 5 or so inches off with a textured bob. I love it and can’t say enough good things about Rosanna!

I used to go to this salon years ago when it was down the street. Always loved the vibe. Now loving the new location and remodel — it’s magical. My stylist then left and I moved away. Now back by many recommendations to see Jaimie Garland. I’ve seen her pics on instagram @jaimiegarlandhair (check ‘em out) and loved them all. So I had to see her. I fully trusted her with my hair which is rare when seeing someone new. She chopped 7 inches, gave me a beautiful lob and ombré color I have seen nobody else achieve. I’m now ready for 2016. You can tell that Jaimie loves her job. She took meticulous attention to detail every step of the way. She is super sweet. It is clear she will only be moving up in her career. She is the hair goddess. Thanks Jaimie! And I’m glad to be back at Tangles again :)

Went here for the first time yesterday for my appointment with Jamie Garland and I am blown away. Had been anticipating my appt with her for months and was NOT dissapointed. She is everything and a master at her craft. My hair is naturally dark brown but I have been blonde for 15+ years… this is the first time I have attempted a dark root and been happy with the results. She gave me a balyage look with a darker root but made sure to keep blonde framing my face and throughout for a nice, clean look. She also cleaned up my blonde ends since there were numerous colors running through. My advice is A. go see her and B. let her decide what will look best on you. I had zero photos or idea of what I wanted I just told her to do what she feels would look best. Jamie is THE «it» hair girl and you can tell she has been trained and is truly a natural talent. Mind you– I drove FROM the city which was about 3 hours round trip and would do it again and again without a second thought.
The salon itself is GORGEOUS. It is the right amount of girly and edgy (chandeliers are EVERYTHING here), yet extremely welcoming. They have a cookie and coffee area (YAY for Icing on the Cake). They had different fun movies playing leading into the Halloween holiday which was fun. They also use top of the line products (Oribe, Unite). Love love love everything about this modern salon.

I had an appointment with Theresa, and she did a FABULOUS job. She listened to the style I had in mind, and was able to recreate it perfectly. Although it was my first time at Tangles, I will certainly be back! The service there is wonderful (Theresa even asked if I wanted wine, a beverage, or some delicious cookies before we got started). Even more, the ambiance was beautiful and I enjoyed the fun, upbeat atmosphere.
I highly recommend Theresa not only for the years of experience she brings to the salon, but also for her ability to deliver on diverse looks– from natural and elegant colors and styles, to wild designs, fun colors, «man braids» and shaved hair designs. We also had a great time chatting it up during the appointment!

I drive over an hour (and much longer in traffic) for appointments with Jamie Garland. When you find someone that just understands you and your hair, you will (and should!) go to any length!
I’ve been seeing Jamie for almost a year now and she’s transformed my hair’s life and consequentially parts of my life! I never had a stylist that would take me as blonde as she has mostly out of fear for my hair’s health or it washing my complexion out. With Jamie’s guidance, I am very blonde and my hair has never felt healthier. Not to mention the lighter colors she paints on actually look more natural on me than my dark color and brighten up my skin even without makeup on.
I’ve started doing tape-​in extensions with Jamie as well and she is patient, educated, and a master at what she does. It’s a long process but she’s efficient and I’m never left feeling like I’ve spent all day in her chair. She has a great personality and I’m always comfortable.
Couldn’t recommend her or Tangles enough! (Parking is tough but make sure you leave 15 minutes before to accommodate for it!)

Can’t say enough about Rosanna, she is the hair goddess. First found her few years ago, and I’m so glad I did. Whatever I want to do, she works with me to make sure I completely love my hair every single time! She’s helped me grow my thin blonde hair to long thick healthy blonde, sometimes I can’t even believe it’s my own hair! I have recommended her to dozens of people and they all feel equally as passionate about her and the results with their hair as well. Thank you for always taking care of me, Rosanna you truly are a gem!

Came here to get my hair cut and colored by Jamie and I was not impressed. She talked badly about other clients while they were in the salon.
She also got bleach all over the back of my shirt and did not care that it was completely ruined.
Would never come here again nor recommend this place.

After moving to the Bay Area over 2 and a half years ago, I literally had tried 8 – 10 salons and stylists over the course of those years from South Bay to SF, and still had not found «thee one» who would become my go-​to hair guru! I decided to give Tangles a try after I asked a coworker/​friend of mine who did her hair (because it always looked fab!). She told me to go to Jamie Garland at Tangles, and the rest is history!
Jamie is a sweetheart and a very talented stylist/​colorist. I have long, layered dark brown hair that I have been getting highlighted for over 15 years, so I’ve become pretty particular about who does my hair and how they do it. Jamie is the Girl Boss of hair! :)
The salon itself is small, yet charming and bright. They even have a little table up front where you can serve yourself some coffee, tea, water, cookies, and sometimes other sweets.

Got my hair done there for the first time today by Lauren. Great place! Everybody is so nice. My hair looks amazing and is softer than ever. I wanted it done totally different, but the stylists are so good at helping you pick exactly what will look good. I was there for about 3 hours, and every minute of it was great. It’s not the cheapest salon out there, but is totally worth it. Of course, its also not a $ 300 for a haircut salon. I will definitely be coming back every few month.

Wow what can I say, Jamie has been my stylist for about 4 years. She is amazing she super perfectionist! I’m picky my self however she always does any amazing job.
