Kelsie was just an amazing wine host. What a great place to spend the afternoon. Try all the wonderful wines. Pints are the best.

Byron is by far my favorite winery in the Central Coast. They produce some of the most high quality Pinot Noir in the industry. I had the great honor of meeting the winemaker, Jonathan Nagy, at the World of Pinot Noir event in Santa Barbara last weekend. I’m currently pursuing my level 1 sommelier diploma and Jonathan was kind enough to allow me to chew his brain about his wines, the region in which his grapes are grown, and wine in general. You can’t say that about most winemakers. I visited the tasting room a week ago on my week long trip through the Sta. Rita Hills and it was a terrific experience. I did the all Pinot tasting. The gentlemen who did my tasting was very knowledgeable about the wines and provided me with great tasting notes. Jonathan’s prices per bottle are very fair(prices per bottle range from $ 19 on the low end to $ 75 for their high end bottles). Overall, a wonderful experience made possible by the good people at Byron!

My husband and I spent a day in Los Olivos over Thanksgiving weekend with the intention of hitting a couple of wineries. We wound up having lunch at Sides on Alamo Pintado, and found that this village street was stacked full of wine tasting rooms from end to end. One of our friends recommended that we check out Byron, and since it was right next to the restaurant, we went in for a tasting. The space was small, clean, and pleasant, and we were able to take our dog inside. There were a lot of people sidled up to the counter to taste, but we found a spot for our party of four without issue. The staff was nice, and kept very busy to keep up with the high volume of customers. We had five pours of wine, and at least three different people switching off pouring them over about a twenty-minute period. There were two tasting options, one of reds and whites, for $ 10, and one of just pinot noirs, for $ 20. My husband and I split the pinot noir tasting. This was fun. All five wines were 2012 pinot noirs – the Sta. Rita Hills, the 667, the Drizzle Barrel, the Monument, and the«100,» presented in order of price. I liked some better than others, but I couldn’t tell you which at this point. I wasn’t completely sold on any of the bottles, and since we would’ve had to buy two to waive our tasting fee, we didn’t pick up any wine. The tasting was worth doing, though, and I enjoyed what we drank. This was my first visit to Los Olivos, at least as an adult, and I had a good time hanging out on Alamo Pintado. Byron’s pinot tasting was a nice highlight, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for an easy wine stop in this area.

A solid selection. The Pinots are the standouts. The pourers are attentive. And the location in Los Olivos is adorable.

The Service: FANTASTIC! Super attentive and informative. He is the local from Los Olivos, wine is indeed part of his life. During weekdays, the tasting room is not too crowded. We got lots of attention from the staffs. The Tasting Room: Small but intimate. They have VIP room for their wine club members. Big bar area. Very clean and well maintained. Nicely decorated. The Parking: Street parking in front of the tasting room

Great Pinot here! Nice tasting room. Friendly professional staff. Tasting is $ 10 for 5 mixed wines or $ 20 for reds. I enjoyed the Swan clone and Julia’s vineyard Julia’s vineyard is a nice Pinot!

Traditional wine tasting room with nice service, but… simply, we felt the wines were meh and the prices were wha.

Holy wine tasting. For those of you from LA, Santa Barbara is just a short drive away and offers wines that are said to compete with those from Napa and Sonoma. While they have some good Syrahs and Chardonnays, I still think they have some catching up to do. Definitely worth a day or weekend trip though. Cheers!

Second Stop on our fourth vista to The Santa Ynez Valley. Our second taste after Evans Ranch. Room: nice clean, modern Service: very well informed if indifferent young server. Wine: looking for good Santa Ynez Pinot Noir: average at best That’s it. No feeling one way or the other. No emotion. Just another stop

Great Pinot! And Chard too. I’m a red drinker and this place really knows how to perfect a varietal. The Pinot Noir’s are AMAZING and I even enjoyed the Chard’s. Lucio and Dave poured our group’s wine and they were very knowledgeable and kind. Lucio and Dave added so much to this great experience. This was my favorite tasting place of the weekend and we went to many places. The music was great and I love that they can make a comfortable environment for all age groups. I highly recommend. You will not be let down.

This was our first stop on our wine tour. We had a great time tasting. One of the guys who poured for us Louis(or something similar) was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of tips and information. One weird but funny occurrence was that I found myself allergic to something in one of their reds. I started sneezing as soon as I took a sip and after a few more sips I finally realized it only stopped after water or a cracker — and just with that one particular glass! Probably the only downside was that, and I confirmed multiple times, we were told to bring our tasting receipt back in and they would comp us that amount towards any wine purchase. I confirmed multiple times«any wine purchase» because it seemed like a deal that was too good to be true! $ 20 towards the one bottle we liked, which was $ 29? What a steal! So we returned before we left town only to be told it was a two bottle minimum by a different guy. Geez. Why not mention that before? My husband said ok in the moment but probably all in all we wouldn’t have come back if we had known that. It wasn’t good enough to buy two bottles or to spend $ 20 per bottle.

Loved the wines and the guys working here. There was something for everyone. The tasting room us super small and there are no chairs. If there was a stool or a group of chairs it would have been great. There was no pressure to buy. I got a few bottles reasonably priced about $ 25 a bottle

If you want to socialize and sip wine in a cool tasting room, Byron is the perfect place. However, if you want to sample exceptional Santa Barbara Pinot, this winery is just OK. Our ambassadors were definitely worn out from what we were told was a busy weekend before. Totally understandable, but yeah, we could tell. Not that I need a Glee-like routine to showcase each varietal, but it definitely helps to answer some basic questions(ex: What would you compare this to?) with more than«I don’t know. Nothing, really.» The wines are just ok. Not bad, but probably not worth the price tag, either. With so much delectable, jammy, lush competition in SB, gotta do better than that. Tasting room is large and inviting! Plus there’s A/C which is clutch on a hot day. Good for groups who would rather purchase a full glass or bottle to chill out for a bit. Overall the experience was fine. But I would likely pass and try something new next time.

Byron carries some of the best Pinot Noirs you’ll find in the Santa Ynez /Santa Barbara regions and they have plenty of options at that. We visited their tasting room for the second time(my fist time actually getting to taste) and we weren’t disappointed. The main tasting room had two flight options — a standard $ 10 whites & reds(two Pinots included) and a $ 20 all-Pinot flight(my recomendation). Each wine was as delicious as the last. The service was also great — making the most of the smaller space to keep you engaged and attended to. There also is a VIP Room for wine-club members I believe — highly considering joining this club in the near future as their wine is simply excellent. Definitely give Byron a try if you’re visiting Los Olivos! Cheers!
