Finn’s is one of my favorite places to go. Not huge with their mixed drink selection but great to grab a beer with friends. I like it because it is the most spacious bar in Lowell. I’m not standing shoulder to shoulder with strangers constantly. They have a variety of tables to sit at besides the bar along with a large bar to sit around. The bar tenders are friendly. Plus I don’t have to dress up it’s really laid back plus they serve food pretty late.

Finn’s is a great alternative to Old Court. Old Court will always have a special place in my heart as my number one favorite place in Lowell, but Finn’s is a very close second. Great place to sit down and hang with friends. Large drink selection(you may get a funny look of shock if you order a martini), so if you want a beer, a mixed drink, or a super fancy martini, it’ll happen. Scotty the bouncer is a great dude. Need some life advice? Talk to Scotty. One of my favorite bouncers in DTL. Awesome to talk to, and pretty funny to boot. All and all, great hangout place.

Great place to hang out on a Thursday night in your Pj’s to grab a drink because it’s Lowell– where dressing up is not necessary. And it’s karaōke night so you get to have a glass and watch people make a fool of themselves. A decent beer selection. I do favor their stella cider on tap. In terms of food choices, its pretty much just drunk people food– fried stuff. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with waffle fries, while the BFF had potato skins. The grilled cheesed wasn’t melted all the way, the potato skins were decent.

This reminds me of a place I frequented in college. It was clean and had a great selection of craft beers. We stopped in at about 6pm on a Thursday to grab a beer before an event, and we were the only ones there. I am guessing that it caters to a much younger and rowdier crowd and might be fun to relive my college days, but I probably won’t return.

(Sigh…) I like Finns. Or, I really want to like Finns. GREAT, even awesome beer selection(can’t go wrong with Kentucky Bourbon Ale on tap) and a wicked cool, low tech plexiglass ice-cooled beer pit in the middle of the bar. These guys get their demographic and appeal to it. I must disagree with the noise level comment on the front page, however. If its Friday night, and the place is rocking, then I’m sure it’s fine. On the other hand, I’ve seen people walk in, and then walk out in the afternoons. Lunch time… People are still working, some try to take calls, and can’t hear, or(worse) maybe their bosses and clients(same diff) on the other end CAN hear. It’s not like you can take a call out to Merrimack Street for some mid-bite peace. Pipe it down in the day time, and maybe you’ll get an exec or 4 in there looking for a great pint and a burger on a Friday afternoon. Food is average overall, but the burgers are great. They have some weird demands at times like needing to swipe a credit card for lunch(huh??). The wait staff is otherwise super friendly and helpful.

Been here for an hour. One beer, a Sam Adams Summer. $ 8.00 for a 16 oz draft, no great deal. Might have ordered food, but no menus and wait staff never asked. Clean by Lowell standards, but that isn’t saying much. Manager(I’m guessing, heavy-set white guy) spent entire time sitting at bar eating potato skins and staring at the breasts of the wait staff. Since I didn’t taste the food, I can’t tell you which was better, but from the looks alone I’d go with the staff. Skins looked awful, breasts were OK. Kelly’s is dirtier but has more charisma. Not planning on a return visit.

I went there for lunch. There were only 6 others people in a party there. All 7 of us ordered burgers. I waited at least ½ an hour for my burger… It came out well well done and dry. I ordered it medium rare. The party of 6… Their burgers came out over the span of at least 15 minutes. Some women were able to eat and others had to take to go. The fries were ok, but none of it worth the wait or revisit.

I was contacted by a stranger to update my review of Finn’s on Unilocal,so just like that I had plans for the night. I came in, they ID’d me at the door, and I seated myself. I sat at the bar waiting to order a drink, but it looks like everyone is assigned to their own quadrant of the bar — so I didn’t get served right away. That’s fine. I’ll wait. BUTTHEN … two girls came in after me, and a bartender walked up to them and said something. The girls got up, and moved further down the bar and received service right away. I, on the other hand, am still waiting to order a drink. The only asian kid in the bar, sitting by himself, waiting, leaning in, trying to make eye contact with bartenders(there were four mind you). About 15 minutes go by, and I finally get my drink(as I watched other people get served first). Naturally I order a Guinness because that’s what most of the reviewers on here seem to be having a problem with. The bartender poured it correctly(filling a Guinness glass up half-way, letting it sit, and topping it off), and processed me promptly. When I looked around, the bartenders looked engaging enough, just not with me. I don’t understand because I’m sitting there dressed like I’m going to a wedding reception, equipped with a camera, and sitting by myself. In no way did I feel I was hostile, unapproachable, or smelly. Now I’m not playing the race card or anything, Finn’s Pub is the sister of the club upstairs which caters to every ethnicity — but something just wasn’t right about that night. What did I do? I put a dollar in the jukebox, and played Gangnam Style as I left through the front door. Maybe they remembered me then. Sorry guy who contacted me, my review stays at 3⁄5. It’s not a bad score, it just needs a little improvement. First time I went in November, I got service worthy of a celebrity. Not sure what happened in between. [UPDATED From previous review: They have an enormous selection of liquor and draft beers now. Most are craft drafts, and there were some liquors that I didn’t even know of(and I’m a bartender).]

Stopped in for a drink after dinner elsewhere, around 9pm and was disappointed. It was not what I expected, the bar area was spacious. Guinness was poured a little fast for my preference. Bartenders were more interested in there phones or friends. Place seemed setup for the college party crowd.

Terrible. My buddy ordered a Sam Adams and I ordered a Guinness. He gets the Sam Adams in a Guinness glass and I got a one pour Guinness in a Sam Adams glass. The bartender who had zero personality shrugged this off when I addressed it, brought me a Guinness in a guinness glass 10 minutes later, which was single poured again, and it was terrible. Got to clean those lines out. First and last experience here.
