Very spacious and stocked to the brim. If you are looking for a board game or RPG material anywhere in West Texas this is the place to go. You’ll typically save a few dollars over MSRP here too so that’s nice. Lots of dice and sleeves and other general items here too.
You’ll probably find gamers here to play a number of different games but I’ve found that it is very Magic: The Gathering-​heavy in terms of CCG stock and general interest. This would be the main reason for my 4 star rating. I don’t blame them though, there just isn’t a lot of money in lesser-​known CCG’s.
Did I mention their board game stock is impressive? I’ll mention it again, these guys have just about anything you are looking for when it comes to board games or RPG books. Card stuff is limited, again focusing heavily on MTG, especially since the WoW CCG has been more or less discontinued.
While I don’t typically do my gaming here, I will definitely help support the local shops as much as possible because when stars align and you need a game in a pinch for game night it’s really nice to have a local place to go pick it up.

Can’t beat the gaming community here. What ever questions you have hatter (the shop owner) will answer them or find some one to help you. If you are looking for a friendly game of what ever there will be some one to enjoy it with. I have been going to this game shop for 20+ years and once you try it you will see why.

Mad Hatter’s is more than just a good game store.
Yes, they have just about any game published in English — and a few in other languages. Yes, they’ve played them all and so can recommend — «f you like this, then you should try _​_​_​_​.» Board games and card games for 2, 4, or a party room full of people. For little gamers, and their gaming siblings and parents. Source books for every RPG around, plus a «used» section that has a surprising number of classic and hard-​to-​find rpg’s. They have modules, figures, grids, maps, accessories of all kinds, dice-​dice-​dice-​dice and more dice. Collectable card games, with sleeves, pages, boxes, notebooks — everything. And — if they don’t have it, they’ll order what you need at no extra charge.
But the best thing they have on hand are the two guys who run the place. Hatter — yes, that’s his name — actually both these guys — are walking encyclopedias of games, modern gaming history, and the whole culture of rpg and war gaming.
But most important — I saw mention by another review of all the tables. It’s not just that you can sit down and play a game. Hatter’s has a calendar. Yu-​Gi-​Oh League every Wed. night; Magic the Gathering Magic Tournament on Friday nights; World of Warcraft — Saturdays; and on and on. And in the summer, it’s every afternoon, every evening. If you were wondering where all the gamer kids in town go – this is where they go. After school, in the evening, and on the weekends. It’s a little shop of social networking!
And since Hatter just moved premises a few blocks over to the corner of 50^th and University, they now have seating for 200 gamers at their tables.
This is not the quaint and sometimes shoulder-​to-​shoulder little shop it used to be. They now have room for all their gamers, their customers, and even the occasional party.

Best game shop in Lubbock! They have a friendly and knowledgable staff, a great selection of board games, RPG’s, and supplies, and support the local gaming scene by hosting events. I’m a huge fan of the shop…

Pretty nice place, small store. Staff was pretty friendly and not especially creepy either. Specifically of note, the store was clean and not all musty and gross nerd smelling. They have some tables and their boardgame selection (what I’m generally looking at) is really not half bad for the limited size of the place. MSRP but there you go, that’s life at a retail game store, no way around it. They gotta pay the rent.

Very plain little game shop. They have a TON of game books and a nice selection of dice and figures. I was there to buy my first set of dice. (I got purple stone ones so pretty).
The BF and I went and wondered looking at the different games, giggling at a few. They had all the books we could want for the games we play, and more. Our DM recommend this place to us.
The staff was friendly, knew where everything was and had good advice for newbies (me!) they were also slightly surprised by a woman coming in to buy dice, but I’m used to that from all my comic book store experience.
The store also had about 12 tables (give or take a few) set up so you could go and game there if you wanted to.
Over all nice place, I’ll be back if I need more dice or find cash for a book.
PS It’s in the same shopping center as a comic book store so the BF and I can each have our nerd out locations in one stop heehee.
