I dined here a few weeks ago on a trip to Lubbock. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. The food, which is buffet, was okay — nothing special, but nothing bad either. The real highlight was the view…

My husband took us here today for a lunch date. I liked going into a bank building, hoping on an elevator, and all of the sudden being greeted at a restaurant. Everyone was very pleasant here. It is ran by students from Texas Tech University that are a part of the Hospitality and Retail Management program. The lunch is always buffet and changes daily. The dinner is very unique. As part of the students grade and final they put together a themed menu. The courses range from 4 – 7 and are all prepared and planned by the students. I have yet to experience the dinner here, but will very soon. The upcoming dinner menus were at the table today and looked very delicious and daring. They were all very fancy recipes that sounded divine. I really enjoyed my time here for lunch and will surely return.

I loved my experience here– it definitely is not the average chain restaurant. This restaurant is run by the TTU students who are majoring in the restaurant business. We came for dinner(the avant garde menu), and I loved everything we ate. It is definitely a little pricier, but the portion sizes are generous and the food is worth it. The staff was very attentive and created a great experience. It was also pretty empty, so we were able to sit around and hang out after we ate while we digested a little bit. I will definitely be coming back here for dinner when they begin their new menus next semester.

This was on my list of «fancy» places to take my girlfriend on dates while in Lubbock. We went for dinner. Hearing that it was an experimental restaurant got me intrigued. Reverse order… The Bad: It turns out that by experimental they didn’t mean trying new recipes or fusions of styles… it means that everyone there is experimenting with working in a restaurant. I guess they tried hard. The waitress seemed rushed and not very personal. I ordered a smoked platter of brisket and jalapeño sausage. The brisket was dry and the jalapeño sausage looked and tasted like hot dog wieners. My girlfriend ordered a salmon and it was incredibly undercooked. The waitress even asked the people next to us to cut into their food to make sure it was cooked all the way. The Good: They really tried to compensate for the entrée with the dessert. I ordered the bacon peanut butter ice cream and it was fantastic. They gave me a scoop that looked like an entire pint’s worth. My girlfriend ordered strawberries romanoff and the bowl contained about 3 spoonfuls. They made up for the undercooked salmon by comp-ing the entrée. Overall: …never going back.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that Texas Tech was/is trying to kick out Skyview’s and KOHM radio out of the sixth floor of the BoA building for ‘more profitable ventures.’ I find it crappy since Tech essentially runs the restaurant for the RHIM majors to complete there course work but since they are money hungry i don’t put it past them. After hearing this news, I made a point today to go eat and help give them some business. Total there were 9 of us and we walked right in without much of a wait. We had two servers for some reason and I don’t know if it was because of our table size(unlikely since a huge group was directly behind us) or if that’s how they operate, but whatever the reason it was nice. I never had to wait for a refill which is a big plus in my book. The Lunch buffet was pretty good but not great. The options were salad, soup, bread, dressing, broccoli & cheese, ham, turkey, & a carving station. The ham was the best of the bunch but the dressing was so-so. For $ 10, its a nice place to eat with a good view of the city. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. When you consider the service and kitchen is run by Tech student, its a pretty impressive operation, Please go and help these guys keep there restaurant… and help stick it to the man.

Run by tech students as a course in the RHIM department. Use to have a really good lunch buffet, and the dinner series during the school year is always pretty good. The location on top of the bank of america building is also unique to LBK since the Lubbock Club is the only other dining establishment to have a good view.
