OMG, the fried cheese! The burger, Swiss mushroom with grilled jalapeños was very tasty. My son got the Philly cheese steak on Texas toast. Solid meal. Didn’t want to eat at a chain, this was suggested by a local we meet and it was delish. Probably crazy busy when school is in though.

Second trip to Lubbock second trip to Spanky’s. This trip we brought friends and they are just as thrilled. Let me start with we were greeted by enthusiastic staff who were helpful with menu selections. My daughter and I knew the portion sizes and opted to share a salad that was topped with grilled veggies and chicken. We also added guacamole and a half order of cheese sticks (not to be missed) our friends opted for burgers both huge portions. All our food came out together and delicious. We will be back time and again

This place has to be the most overpriced restaurant in Lubbock for the quality of the food. The service is terrible and I always have to wait longer than I should for my food. When I get my food it’s never that great. My last visit will be my last. I found two pieces of hair in my food… Disgusting. Will not be going back. Just an average place. Save your money and go else where.

Always feel strange going here, but then I think — «why don’t I consider this more often!!!»

So I’m not usually a cheese stick kind of girl but OMG the ones here are amazing!!! I usually get the burgers which a re soooo good too. Not a huge fan of the fries cause they’re not crispy but other than that, it’s great!

I ordered the crispy buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious! Spicy with lots of buffalo sauce. My dad has the grilled cheese with added tomato and he loved it. The fries tastes like the homemade fries my mother makes — which means they’re amazing! Five stars.

Great atmosphere when not packed. Good food, but everything is pretty greasy. I will still always recommend the fried cheese anyway.

Great burgers and great cheese sticks! I highly recommend getting the cheese sticks to share with the table, it’s a lot. The salads aren’t bad, but I’d rather go for a burger.

Good customer service and great burgers. Not the cheapest place in town, but the food is quality. There is a decent amount of seating, but I’m sure they could use more during peak hours. I also tried the cheese sticks and wasn’t entirely impressed as my friend told me I would be. It is just a large stick of cheese, breaded, and fried. I think if they added some sort of seasoning or spice they would have a lot more success with them. I.e. putting a Cajun seasoning in the breading, or maybe a jalapeño cheese instead of just mozzarella.
Overall, well kept establishment, good burgers, and good customer service. If I’m back in Lubbock it will be hard to keep me away.

Been here plenty of time while i was in school and whenever i visit Lubbock. Whenever im here its definitely a cheat mean. The cheese fries are only good the first 10 min, after its cold not so good. I would say the burgers are mediocre, it has quantity not quality. But i don’t mind, ill be back here whenever i visit Lubbock.

Fried cheese was good. The burgers were fine, and the fried chicken was not awful but not amazing either. The big disappointment was the French fries. You have to pay extra for them to come with most things, but they arrived oily, stuck together, soggy, and lukewarm. The service was kind/​thoughtful, but could use some improvement in multitasking/​organization.

Second time driving through Lubbock and decided to stop here… man they have good burgers. I might have shortly regretted my decision for the bacon and American burger with the hotter than hell sauce but it was worth every bite. The famous fried cheese is everything a cheese lover would want too! I wouldn’t mind stopping here again.

Honestly all I want to say is THE FRIED CHEESE! Legit the best cheese stick you’ll ever eat and the tempura crust is just magical with ranch. The burgers are average and this was their only reason for not getting a 5 star. The fries are great, but you can’t eat there without getting the fried cheese!

Their Fried Cheese is life changing and I will remember it forever. It is as af they take a block of mozzarella and fried the whole thing. The batter is a lovely crispy and not too greasy texture. If you are in Lubbock this is a must stop and try. They burgers and chicken strips are fantastic as well!

The fried cheese is great and we love the burgers, but the service is terrible. I fully understand that this is a college town, but that does not excuse bad behavior. Today I watched a server toss a basket of fried cheese on a customers table… as she walked on by. My husbands burger arrived burnt, and the apology by the server was less than sincere. The servers also huddled around the cash wrap upstairs and stuffed their mouths full of food, while ignoring customers requests for to-​go boxes. Since I am not a college kid, but a college students mom, I expect a certain level of service, no matter where I’m eating. I am certain there are some college kids at Tech that would love to work, and would be polite. Unfortunately your fried cheese is not enough to bring me back in. I will not be back

Everyone says Spanky’s is a Lubbock «must try», truly while it might be a Tech icon. I don’t believe that their burgers or menu iteams are anything to make a worthy fuss. Spanky’s is you neighborhood capitalism in the disguise of a friendly local. While the people in it are locals, it is a very touristy place to be. The Señor frogs of the LBK.
Their burgers are nothing to scream about, pretty plain. Plain hamburger bread, OK meat quality and quantity, and decent fries. If you’re looking to come here to get drunk and enjoy a good snack have at it! The most worthy item menu as told by the regulars is the fried cheese. I love cheese sticks, so I’ve got a soft for them. Very good in quanity, the cheese will literaly come out of your ears, thats how much cheese there is. However, the amount of fat in that will definately come out of your pores in the next few hours.
If you’re going to dine in, I suggest trying the cheese, grabbing a good drink, and maybe trying something other than a burger. Maybe the Philly.
Try it once, and move on.

This a step up from a 5 Guys and a step below a Chili’s.
I like both of those places, so I liked this place.
Not a local, came through with the folks to drop off my lil bro at a nearby university. (Go Red Raiders)
Parking — Limited
Seating — plentiful.
Area/​Clientele — Largely students. I don’t know what this place is gonna look like on a game day — but I bet it won’t be pretty.
Service — Texas friendly.

Although it might not be obvious what to order here, GET THE DAMN FRIED CHEESE.
Everything else on this menu you’ve had everywhere else. The Fried Cheese here, you’ll never see anywhere else. Get it and thank me.

Man it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been here and I’m having withdrawals.
I came in thinking this place would be a regular burger joint; sit down, eat a decent burger, and leave. But no. The burgers from this place were magical. The patties were so greaseless. The buns were warm. The veggies were cold and crunchy and the cheese was dripping. One of the best burgers I had. The fries were nothing too special though in my opinion. I feel like they could have been way better.
Now, let us not forget the fried cheese. Be sure to order this when you come in. You won’t regret. You can tear it apart from the middle and just watch the cheese stretch and dip. The crust of the cheese is nice and crisp as well. Not to mention they’re also pretty big in size. If I’m Lubbock, I’ll definitely be coming here again.

This is a nice little local spot. It’s not gourmet, it’s just good food. Service staff was friendly. Food came out in a fair amount of time. I had the fried mushrooms, which were huge. The fried cheese was excellent. The He-​Man WomanHater burger is a mouthful. Probably should have brought a dolly to have them wheel me to my car. Worth stopping by if you’re around.
