Came back for more! I love this bar. Great food & an awesome staff. I love the Local theme. A huge selection of Texas beers(no drafts just fyi) & liquors. This is an upscale bar that welcomes all. Yes it gets super busy at night with college kids(it’s right across from campus) but also has great food specials during the day & good for happy hour! Oh did I mention it’s NONSMOKING!

Very open space, somewhat uninviting. They need something between the door and the bar. Has the look and feel of an unfinished space. Bar is a bit awkward ergonomically but serviceable. The HVAC was blowing a strong breeze along the length of the bar so we shifted to the end, which helped. — No draft beer. — No wine. Lots of local beers in cans and bottles, but other than the names, no info on any of them. These days of microbrews really requires the ABV at the very least — some brewers can really crank up the percentage and that doesn’t help with the driving afterwards. The better pubs publish even more, such as the IBU. I spent a bit of time looking up beers on BeerAdvocate prior to deciding what I wanted. Bartender was quite helpful, at least when he wasn’t paying too much attention to his buddies at the bar. I understand when the bar is empty you shoot the shit with people, but when other customers come in, that becomes your priority. He had trouble with that concept. Very limited menu, especially for vegetarians. We settled on sharing a no-meat pizza and Mac and cheese bites. Weird Liberal pizza is solid, with a very thin crust, not very large. Bites were just ok. Good prices on beer. Street parking. Not recommended unless you’re in the area. No draft beer, no wine, limited menu brings down the rating. They do have liquor so it might be good for cocktails. We came here because the other obvious choice on Unilocal was closed. The Local might be a bit better later in the evening or on the weekends. On a Monday night at 8PM, it was pretty dead.

I was quite surprised by the food here. I have been here late at night after a good time at chimys but never just for food. Anyways the food was good. Everything is very unique, but all the flavors work very well together. They also have a very good burger and the pork belly is amazing. Really liked this place for food more than a late night bar type place.

I keep claiming that I am stingy with my fivers, so every time I sling one out there I think that maybe I’m being to generous. This is not the case with The Local. I anticipated a typical college bar, with expensive drinks and mediocre fried this and that but I was wrong. Almost everything about this place is perfect. Lighting, décor, service… I could go on but what I really want to tell the masses about is The Here Piggy Piggy sandwich. Pork belly, uncured, smoked, little sweet,(bacon for those that don’t know). Imagine the texture of eating pork ice cream, or the texture of pork cotton candy and you might be close. Served on a bed of house made cole slaw between a sesame seed/poppy bun. I wanted to be alone with this thing and touch myself but couldn’t put it down. French fries were thick cut, crunchy and perfert. Washed it down with a LA Frontera IPA. Will come back!

Took my girlfriend here for a late night snack and a quick bite to eat. The place was clean, the staff was well mannered, and the food was great. My girlfriend insisted the nachos were the best she has ever had. I got the burger and it was just as good. The fries are wedged-cut and are flavorful. Altogether a deserving 5 star review. Will go back again and make this a regular.

I don’t frequent the Local often. I prefer to sit down and enjoy my beer in peace and quiet. However, this is a college bar in a college town and for what it is, it’s very nice. The food is tasty. I’ve had both the roja chicken tacos and various pizzas. I’d like more beer on tap but this is Lubbock and that isn’t as common as you’d think for good beer. This place is worth checking out although I prefer it during breaks when there’s less people, please its also non-smoking, always a plus.

Business traveler looking for great hamburger. Unilocal reviews did not justify high marks. I hope this was an off night for this cool looking bar close to campus. Ordered the juicy Lucy burger and was very disappointed. The problem was the 2 patties of burger meat that more closely resembled shoe leather. Seriously, it reminded me of the kind of meat you make chicken fried steak from. Loved the bun and toppings but this should not be called a hamburger especially in Texas. Great looking bar inside and good selection of Texas beer but the food severely disappointed this traveler.

I really want this place to be a five star place. It has the atmosphere that is needed in Lubbock — an old fashioned college pub replete with wood, exposed bricks, and metal beams and a stage for live music. I will have to admit that I probably chose the absolute worst time to give this place a shot — just a day after all of the December graduation ceremonies and after the students all break for the holidays. Thus, I am sure the reduced staff(there was one bartender that was also expected to serve the barren tables plus perhaps one cook in the back) was simply happy to have a break from the typical nightly madness. That being said, my pork belly sandwich was underwhelming due to it being quite a bit on the tough and chewy side. The fries were great and by all accounts my work compatriots gave glowing reviews of their burgers. This is a place that I am going certainly give a try when the crowd and ambiance, and perhaps the mood and pace of the staff, is much more favorable, so stay tuned.

I really like The Local’s atmosphere. The lighting is so perfect. I wish I had this lighting in my house. The space is small and cozy. I have only been once and it was for a Medical school event for my Husband’s class. The bartenders were very nice. Their food was fresh and more quality than your usual bar. I liked the high ceilings as well. I think that on the weekends this place might get swarmed with the college crowd since it is a bar right by campus. I went on a Thursday and it was not too crazy.

My husband and I had a good time here. However, we both thought that our margaritas were strong. And then we had the«Big As Your Face Queso Nachos» consisting of chorizo, chili, jalapeños, and white Queso. The white Queso is great, but the other stuff was too spicy. Next time, we will try something else.

Decent beer collection, though mostly cans and bottles. Just ordered chips and salsa; not on the menu, but the bartender had no issues with me ordering. Chips were out of this world good. The salsa was not good. Had the guy taste it and he said it was good, but there was something really off with it. Just ate the chips. Great prices on good vodka.

Not really sure who’s idea it was to use pork belly instead of bacon… but they should be thanked. Smaller place, personal staff and great food. Plus it’s one of the coolest looking bars in town. Stumbled into a karaōke night a few Tuesdays ago and it was a blast. Then I was informed that there is a live trivia night every Wednesday. Seems like since it’s opened its quickly become one of the top spots for the younger crowd and you can’t beat the $ 5 daily lunch special. I’d recommend the fatty boom batty chicken fried steak sandwich!

Definitely worth ditching the family and make it to Local when in the LBK area. Great, clean, NONSMOKING! bar; awesome bartenders. Game days are always good — great drink specials and the food is YUM. But the music line-up is definitely where its at.

Great Texas Environment! Great Texas Beer and Liquor selection, great food menu. The best Bloody Mary’s in town. Very clean place! If your looking for good customer service and some of the best live music in Lubbock this is it. The place to be on game days and graduation!

Been going to this place for a few weeks, great place to grab a beer. They support a lot of local artists and have shows every night of the week. Bartenders have always been prompt and polite. Prices are good for drinks, food is pretty impressive.

Random drive to Lubbock from Midland for no reason and we decided to stop and eat. We saw this place had great reviews and now I know why. This place is incredible. The décor is modern and comfortable. The bartender(PJ) was so nice even though we are Aggies haha. We ordered the«here piggy piggy» sandwich, the weirdo pizza, and the chicken tacos and all of it was delicious! Awesome afternoon with beer and great food. If we ever decide to come back we will be coming here!

Great food, good drinks, chill atmosphere. Only occasional downside is that after 10 p.m. the music can get a little loud.

Cheap drinks, nice people. It’s a bit on the smaller side so I wouldn’t go there with a group, but I had a really great evening and had fun chatting with the bartenders and locals.
