Wiley’s is an awesome bbq shack. The food is delicious. I’ve had almost everything and I haven’t been disappointed. Ribs are juicy and tender. The chicken is so flavorful! And the brisket is daggum decent! People say it’s a sketchy area but it Isn’t. Basically if you’ve never been on the east side you’d prolly think it’s all sketchy. But it’s not. And Wiley’s carries a long tradition of delicious east side character and charm that is a Lubbock treasure. If ever on the wonderful east side give Wiley’s bbq a try!

Ribs were good, good flavor, a little smokey, tender, juicy. Sliced brisket was a little dry, no smokiness, needed barbecue sauce. Chopped brisket was quite tasty. Beans a potato salad were passable.

As others have noted, the area and building itself are a little sketchy. However, if you can get past that, there’s some pretty good BBQ and good folks here. My ribs were a bit dry but flavor was good. Husband’s beef was great, though– I’d suggest ordering that. Good bang for your buck!

I was in Lubbock for no good reason and thought every BBQ place would be open but I was wrong. However, when I needed BBQ Wiley’s was there for me. In a crappy part of town, no reason to go there but this place. The portions were huge! You get more than you pay for here. I don’t know much about Texas BBQ but judging by this place it’s great. When I pulled up I thought I would get good food or a shot of food poisoning but its delicious and no poisoning either. Definitely go here, it’s worth it!

Super sketchy area, so please know that before you go to this place. If that discourages you from going, totally understand. However, the BBQ is DANGGOOD! Had ribs and brisket with okra and potato salad. It was a great plate of food! Also Wiley is SUPER nice, treats you like you’re a guest at his home. He’s a sweetheart. If it hadn’t been just me and my wife for dinner, we totally would have gotten the 60 dollar special. That’s a ton of food for a GREAT price! We thought about it, but didn’t want to have leftovers for like a week.

Excellent! Great family operated hole in the wall BBQ and really great service. We got the super package that said it would serve 12. It’s a good deal for $ 60. We had 9 people, and I bet we had enough leftover for 5 more. Potato salad was good. Ribs and brisket great. Sausage was mediocre, like Eckrich.

First time to Lubbock and to Wiley’s. I love BBQ and the brisket was perfectly cooked and delicious. No question a little rough but it also has that old school charm.

I will be back. This place is a dirty, hole in the wall but all the best BBQ places are! The sauce reminded me of my Crappaws homemade. Finger lickin’ good!

Driving through from Austin to Denver and Unilocaled some places to stop. For what this is, it’s 5 star. It looks sketchy from the outside, but go in anyway. We were greeted with smiles and welcomes by the staff, and they came by and chatted while we ate. Food was decent to me, but my husband was a huge fan and says he’d go back. When we left, the cook was out back cooking more meat and called out goodbye to us like we had been long time pals. Great job Wiley’s.

I love this place! The brisket was amazing and I really enjoyed the fried okra and potato salad. Wiley the owner is a great guy and was very accommodating to our group and the staff were friendly too. The barbecue is very authentically cooked here smoked right outside the door and goes a long way to draw you inside. This place has a lot of character and I like that it’s located away from the college crowd.

Wiley’s is definitely in the«dive» category. It’s just an old school, grungy, local bbq joint. I had the brisket and it was excellent. Barky, smokey, tender. I wish they hadn’t drowned it in their spicey sauce! Then– the ribs. Bummer. Although they were tender and moist, there was a pretty strong flavor of charcoal lighter. Big disappointment. i could not eat a second one, that has never happened! Someone got a little impatient I suppose. Maybe another day I’ll give it a try. Clean this place up and get some quality control and this place could own Lubbock.

Drove cross country back in January. Ate so much good food, but anytime anyone asks me what my favorite meal was, I have to go with Wiley’s. Brisket, Sausage, Ribs, best BBQ I’ve ever had.

Just to reference on the past review: «Buford Wiley’s meat is so good.» It made me feel weird when I read that… I’m pretty sure Buford Wiley will feel weird too… Just joking, okay? Anyway, I like it that they serve brisket all through the day. This place was hard to find though. Our Navigon and our Magellan GPS got us confused on where it is. The servers were nice. I like their BBQ beef brisket, and it was good, but not the best in Lubbock, like what they say in the other reviews. Hopefully, these people tried the other BBQ places in town before they say it’s the best. Otherwise, the food was good. Their frito pie is not that good though; or maybe I don’t like frito pie at all so maybe that’s not their fault.

Buford Wiley’s meat is SO good. A must-visit for the foodie/searcher of authentic Americana. This place should anchor the north end of a BBQ trail.

Really enjoyed Wiley’s for lunch today! Brisket and ribs had plenty of smoke and a good bark from the rub. The sauce was the perfect blend of tangy and sweet. Beans were well done although the potato salad left a little to be desired. Only complaint was the ribs were a bit tough but had great flavor. As far as LBKBBQ goes this is one of the best!

When I asked my sister to bring me to a BBQ joint while on my visit to her in Texas, this place is as close to as perfect as I could have imagined. It is located in what appears to be an old photo-mat store situated in the middle of a parking lot. You drive up to place your order and then pull around to the side where they bring to your car when it is ready. I always love being able to order meat by the pound. More so, being from Seattle it is still something of a pleasant surprise to be able to feed a family of 6 with 6 pounds of 6 different meats including sides of potato salad, baked beans and hot sauce for around $ 60. While that is enough food to feed twice that many people, who seriously complains about BBQ left-overs? If you get a chance check out there BBQ rig out back made in the shape of a cow. There is something perfectly ironic and truly Texan about seeing BBQ meats come from out of a cow smoker.

Love this little shack that serves good BBQ. Way out on the east side. but worth the drive… just dont go at night. ] Really cheap family packs that could feed 4 for under $ 20. Tender brisket, good ribs, smokey sausages, and tangy sides… even got daily lunch specials that runs under $ 5 w/drink… And you can see Mr. Wileys pit right outside the shack, and see the blackened smoke rings to prove its authenticity
