A surprising find in Lyndhurst which can easily compete with the finest Italian cuisine in Manhattan. At the end of my meal I would have licked the plate clean if I could have gotten away with it. The bill for 3 people came in under $ 50. Nice people, efficient service. Definitely check it out — you’ll need reservations for dinner but lunch is just as good. Live music Thursday nights!

Great neighborhood restaurant in Lyndhurst. Been going here for a few years and always feel welcome. The food is very good and you can’t beat the price. We almost always get Cheryl as our waitress and she is just fantastic– I was bummed about a dish they took off the menu and they made it for me anyway. Love this place!

I came here with my husband for a date night. The staff and ambiance are great, everyone was friendly, funny and attentive. The food is standard Italian American fare with great specials while I was not blown away by the flavors, everything tastes fresh. With its prices being so reasonable and being byob, we will definitely be coming back.

Pleasantly surprised. I love Italian-American food, it is my comfort food, the food I go to when I’m down and the food I make when I have friends over. I make frequent trips to many Italian-American locales such as Arthur Avenue, Bensonhurst, New Haven and I think I can honestly say that CG had the best red sauce I’ve tasted in many, many years. I had the spaghetti with meatballs and sausage, a dish that may seem so basic and boring but that’s only because most places I’ve gone to always mess this dish up some how. CG did it right, I don’t know what was in the sauce but it had the perfect combination of olive oil, garlic and perhaps even eggplant. Not only that, so much more reasonably priced than anything in the Bronx or Brooklyn. I’ll be back.

This is a place with some great aspects and some not-so-great aspects. As far as the great, I have to start with the service. I’m not sure if I have been to many other restaurants with better service than Casa Giuseppe. My family went back a second time a few months after our first visit and the waitress remembered our faces. How often does that happen?! I also love the fact that they do not rush you out here. They seem to encourage you to take your time and stay for awhile after the meal. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to be rushed out of your seat to sit another party. As far as the food, I had the chicken parm. I have to say I also enjoyed the portion of pasta on the side, which was large. However, the sauce lacked flavor for me and the chicken just overall did not taste too spectacular. Overall, I’d say the food is OK — I have definitely had better but not horrible. This would be a great place to go for a date or to have a dinner and talk for a hour or so afterwards.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere! Loved our entrees – a Grouper w/mussel special and chicken w/artichokes, tomatoes, and capers. Had a delicious light sauce on the chicken dish. Mussels were excellent. The bread was fresh and amazing. BYOB – we were from out of town and unaware of this but luckily had a bottle of wine in our car from Trader Joes in NYC:). So surprised there was no corkage fee for the wine! This restaurant was truly a gem and a find!

Great place with reasonable prices. Bread is hot and fresh, had the eggplant and calamari appetizers, both were fresh and delicious. The ordered the fettuccine Christina which was very tasty. Will definitely be going back.

After reading such rave reviews I had to give this place a try. Overall there was a mix of good and bad. Starting with the good, the crab cake appetizer and hog wings were great. I enjoyed the veal Giuseppe and my wife and cousin said the sirloin was very bland. My cousin’s wife had the pasta with lump crab and she said it was tasty. The biggest let down had to be the service. There’s an older waitress who is great but everyone else is not up to snuff. All things considered, this place is a great value and the ingredients were very fresh. I’ll definitely give this place another shot real soon.

Had dinner here a few years ago. Was in neighborhood last week and decided to stop there for late lunch, but the restaurant was not open for lunch. The owner saw us at the door trying to see if they were open, unlocked the door and said he was getting ready for dinner and if we didn’t mind waiting a bit, he would be happy to serve us So we went in and had the whole place to ourselves. We were given the menu and he told of his specials. He mentioned an interesting veal dish with some kind of mushrooms that I never heard of. When I asked a question about the dish, he explained something about the mushrooms(I think he said they were imported — whatever he said, I do remember that they were described as special). When I told him that I would like to try the dish, he mentioned the price, which was expensive. I appreciate that he mentioned the price so that I wouldn’t get sticker shock when the check was presented.(Usually, when specials are mentioned, they leave out the price) I ordered it, and the veal, mushrooms and sauce were delicious. A good choice, and a new experience. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant and it was not officially open for dinner yet, the owner had a bit of time to talk to us. Currently, the place is small and intimate and BYOB. But, he said he is soon knocking down a wall to expand and will better be able to accommodate private parties. There will also be a bar. The food was great. And the owner was friendly. Oh! And I was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill. Since I ordered an expensive dish, I was prepped to get a hefty bill. But since everything else on the menu that we ordered was average priced, our entire bill was quite affordable. What was supposed to be a late lunch, turned into a lovely dinner.

I Went on Tuesday night and it was very quiet, no music was on. The fried artichoke Was good but I wish there was a different dressing, It came with honey mustard and remind me of chicken nuggets The food seemed fresh and the waitress was pleasant. Thank you for a great experience and we will see you soon.
