Vermella Lyndhurst

My wife and I lived here for over a year with our 2 year old son and we loved it. The management is excellent. They are responsive, friendly and keep the place well maintained.
The apartments are high quality, new and large with washer and dryer and the covered parking was great on rainy /​snowy days.
Also, the Rutherford downtown (8 minute drive) has more options for restaurants /​shops.
Overall, if you want a safe, good value alternative to NYC rentals, this is a great option. My wife and I were very happy here and would recommend it.

Stay away. This company is beyond awful with all of the section 8 running around (50% of all buildings). They will rip you off in any way they can. They will come up with erroneous charges on security deposit. They’ll say everything is fine during review then come back with 2000 charges bc of a few small minor scratches due to normal wear and tear. They are slumlords and I would urge anyone that lives here to leave and those considering it do not move in unless you want to live with half section 8 ppl who pay ¹⁄₅^th your excruciatingly high rent.

The best apartments New Jersey has to offer by far, trust me, I’ve driven all over and I’ve seen many properties!
The space, stainless steel appliances, huge washer and dryer in units, plush carpet, hardwood floors, and amazing amenities do not compare to others, especially for the price! We simply love our new apartment home in the 2000 building and we are the first to live in our unit!
We’ve lived at The Beacon in Jersey City too and they were luxury apartments as well, however, they lacked the space that Vermella has to offer. The only thing I miss about The Beacon is Valet parking and the steam room but I sure don’t miss paying for that! Parking is including here and if you need another parking space, the fee is definitely cheaper than The Beacon! You won’t regret making Vermella your home!

Only been in less than a month but extremely satisfied. It’s so wonderful to have hard wood and ceramic tile floors again and nice countertops in kitchen and bath. So far the place is quiet, residents are friendly, and the staff is always cleaning (every morning) — it smells lovely. Very dog friendly.

I have lived in several apartments over the last 14 years, ranging from a student ghetto to a high-​rise with a Manhattan view. Of all these places, Vermella ranks as my favorite. The construction is new, the appliances are new, the amenities are new, and most of the residents are new.
The things which impressed me about Vermella compared to other places are:
1. The sound insulation! We lived overlooking the train tracks and I was concerned about the sound. No worries there, the sound filtered through only when the patio doors were open.
2. The heat insulation! In the peak of the winter of the infamous Polar Vortex, our heating system didn’t have to work overtime at all. The cold only permeated through the glass panes but the sealing around them was weather-​proof.
3. The management: When we had to move out early and were prepared to pay out the rest of the lease as per contract, they took effort to find a renter for our vacated place so we didn’t have to pay the remaining two months. That really was a pleasant surprise to someone used to having apartment managements nickel and dime and grand you out of your money.
The cons:
1. The location is such that with a short downpour the entry to the complex gets flooded. Although it drains quickly, you’re left having to find parking outside for 1 – 2 hours.
2. Some of the residents: Although this is a new place and may feel like your personal playground, it makes sense to clean up the common areas after you’ve used it instead of leaving trash everywhere.
3. The ceiling and floors: Remember the part about the sound insulation. That doesn’t work so well with the ceiling. We could hear stomping and running children’s feet overhead on the weekends, maybe because of the awesome dark espresso tile floors.
I recommend Vermella to anyone who is looking to commute downtown to work and not looking to pay the exorbitant rents of NYC or Jersey city.

im writing a review update. Here since Nov. there have been probs… but minor, and maint. always fixes quick…
memorial day mess and cray… this is true. BUT… most residents in our building, 5000, 5^th floor… there is a lot of ppl in their mid20s. the sectioners didnt trash stuff. Young couples w good jobs… who work n play hard… partied. was there a mess, sure. The place is like a frat mixed w a hotel. Fri n sat n holidays… u have young ppl who party hard. they pay their rent, n should b able to enjoy their holiday to the max… thats why we have grounds staff. did i find it annoying? a lil… but im a hermit. These guys here r young, enjoyin life. memorial day? the 4^th, labor day” cut em a break.
otherwise, we love the neighbors! so theres some partyin… theyre good ppl, doin well, enjoyin life. expexted for the 21 – 30 crowd.
weve have probs w mosquitos n birds, more important then 20somethings havin fun.
we love living here, and it would take a lot to get us to move.
avalon sucks, the building on river by mobil is disgusting.
for young couples workin in ny, who wanna enjoy their time off, this is the spot
local to trains, ny, shuttle to train station, great neighbors… young but mature n educated…
our floor is a great spot to be. the right mix of fun and quiet.
The vermella is hands down the best apt I have ever lived in!

Vermella translates to red in Catalan Spanish which correlates with «Russo» the property developer and owner. The red accents can be seen throughout the community, especially on the roofs of each of the four apartment buildings throughout the community.
The luxury apartments are very nicely appointed and you can tell that corners were not cut compared to other comparable apartment complexes in the area, namely the Lyndhurst Avalon.
The majority of apartments are well appointed with whirlpool stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, quartz countertops, full size washer and dryer in unit, a well sized bedroom with plush carpeting and decent sized walk in closet space and a generously sized bathroom with a refreshing rainfall shower head.
The options between the various layouts surely will fit most lifestyles.
We went with a more standard open layout with a balcony overlooking a complete NYC skyline view, which is approx 900 sq ft.
They also have a larger layout corner apartment minus balcony which are approx the same price (approx 1,000 sq ft).
The community is the biggest plus, I have made some remarkable friendships!
The majority of residents are young — positive and engaging professionals in the late 20s to mid 30s.
The amenities are a great touch. The gym is on par with an upscale hotel, the pool is very nice although I haven’t had a chance to enjoy it as of yet: (
The management is very friendly although I feel extremely shafted as I was promised a parking space next to my building yet after I signed my leased I was assigned a space next to another building which I was promised was only temporary.
Then they moved me to space even further then my original spot, which I am still stuck in even after numerous times bringing it up with management since moving in November 2013.
What I have found to be even more shady was the fact that when I inquired about the 2 months free rent promotion that was going on during the signing of my lease they stated that it was no longer available. Which I later found out later was a lie since I met residents who signed leases in my building after me, who were offered such promotions.
I think many of the employees of the mgmt staff are very nice and friendly yet I feel they are not extremely experienced in managing properties. I understand running such a new beautiful luxury complex can be demanding and extremely challenging, yet it is imperative that they balance their objectives with the overall quality of life of the residents or otherwise fear running many quality residents away from such a beautiful complex.
Coming from the family that started the parent company that owns the management company that runs our complex I have had the opportunity to learn a thing or two about real estate and property management and hope they get their act together before I reach out to my extended family on the advisory board committee of Mack-​Cali to help assure that their best interests are kept.

I’m a fan of Vermella not discriminating against those who are Section 8 or in the Affordable housing program and I greatly appreciate that Vermella does not condone those who lump everyone together with stereotypes. It’s all about morals and good character and you find it varies in ALL groups. I’m moving there shortly and this is a huge blessing. I promise you I will obey every rule and will be respectful of others around me and I expect the same. I’m mom to a severely handicapped child and because I put my heart and soul into caring for her full time instead of sticking her in some institution that might mistreat and abuse her, I have next to no income and therefore am Section 8. We are moving there because there is an elevator and I don’t have to carry her up and down 26 stairs anymore and I can actually live someplace that affords me some luxury which I could never have without Vermella being open to the program. I really can use a little luxury after dealing with seizures and diapers now for 17 years and that will go on for the rest of my child’s life. Thank you Vermella! Oh and definitely all who break the rules should be dealt with. But please don’t anyone who lives there assume that I’m garbage or a «government leech» because I get assistance. Just because I don’t work in a «professional» career and am home during the day doesn’t mean that I don’t work my tail off 24 hours a day. And not «everyone judges» because those who know better, they don’t judge. Can’t wait to move in Vermella, it’s like winning the lottery for me. I thank God in the name of Jesus for opening this door.
