Mariscos Nayarit

Came here yesterday driving all the way Chino Hills based off of friends going and raving about it. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, the shrimp tostada and crab tostada. Heard so much a out it I was excited to try. Absolutely tasteless. I couldn’t believe it! Basically boiled shrimp on top of tostada with tomato and cucumber. No special seasoning, just bland. The cocktail was nasty. Boiled shrimp with the water used to boil with tomatoes and cucumber. Where’s the flavors? The only thing that was good was the fish. That’s it. Everything else sucked. Overall a 2. Only because of the fish. Service was ok. Just ok. What a waste of $ 130. Maybe I came on an off day, chef was not in because seriously this was the worst shrimp and crab I have ever had. I find it hard how this place would get any raves.

Took about 20 minutes to place an order for our drinks and food. Service was terrible, and the shrimp had absolutely NO FLAVOR. Had shrimp cocktail, shrimp tostadas, crab, and fish. It was imitation packaged crab and the shrimp was not clean. Only thing my family seemed to somewhat enjoy was the fish and beer. Place was too hyped.

Food is delicious. They are pretty much always busy but service is fast. I didn’t wait long for my food and they are so polite.

The best ceviche if you get the Nueva orden ceviche mix with shrimps and fish and octupus or your choice… of the above… they have the best charbroiled fish around town… unbeatable prices and flavor 5 stars all around… the place. Is outdoor seating like backyard style…

By far the best pescado sarandiado I have tried in LA county. Outdoor sitting now serves alcohol. A lot of vendors and sometimes there is live music.

I went in yesterday Sunday afternoon with a party of 11. We didn’t wait for seating. Once we were seated about it took 20 min for someone to even ask for our drinks then another 45 min for our food to arrive. Everytine we needed something extra a drink, mayo or tortillas we had to walk up to the kitchen because the service is horrible! We ordered agua chiles, tostadas de ceviche de camaron and 3 pescados sarandiado which were really small. They don’t give the same portion anymore. We paid 120 $ which I feel was okay but the fish was still really small. I will never come back even though the food is good. They lack organization.
I’m sure the restaurant personal won’t even notice this review but I’m sure some people will check Unilocal before they go.

I am going to be very honest. I waited about one hour for the server to take my order. Then anther hour for my for to be at my table. While i was waiting for my food I needed to use the restroom. When i walk on there restroom the smell of shit, piss and fish slaped me in the face.
Well i decided to still stay because i was hungry. Watied and waited and still nothing i was like wtf about to walk out on these putos.
If your looking for a place to enjoy some good service and food this is not the place i rathe go catch my own fish.

This place sucks so bad. Do not recommend. No avocado or cilantro and the tostadas have no flavor.

omg best ceviche evva! i love the green chile. sarandiado. and i often buy my kilo de especial de pescado con camaron to go!

Food was ok… was our first time here so we walked in thru the front door not the side and literally stood there standing in front of the guys for about 4 min. We were the only ones there and I like how none of them greeted us or helped us. Finally we had to ask if we were on the right side, they need better service. Overall the food was good.

Absolutely no flavor. I wouldn’t come back if it was free. I had the campechana, no flavor. The mixta tostada, no flavor. The shrimp tostada, no flavor. El pescado sarandiado, meh… I had to douse everything with lime, salt and tapatío. At least the Pepsi was good. Lol

Well My review is because they only sell seafood. My husband likes there food but we can’t go to often because I can’t eat there. I am allergic to seafood. I would love for them to serve at least chicken. I travel to Nayarit every year and they offer a plate of meat, beans, rice and and salad. All restaurants. The ambience is nice. Don’t like the fact that anyone can come of the street to sell things. They make u feel bad for
Not buying from them. so in my opinion they get a 2 in overall.

Heard a lot about this place… especially that you can bring your own beer there and they would even put it on ice! Well, I guess they got their beer license now because they confiscated the case of Negra Modelos we had and had to buy their beer =(
It was okay though. This place reminded me of lil TJ with people walking around selling their stuffed animals, toys, desserts, and stuff. There are umbrellas all over the tables but don’t expect a fine establishment here. It’s just a hole in the wall. Looks like it used to be a house that was converted into a big ass backyard fiesta. Lol. There were even 2 mariachi bands playing. That’s how big the outside patio is.
Now I don’t speak fluent Spanish but my friends did… I do like good Mexican seafood and this place was good enough for me. We were lucky to get there before the crowds and were seated immediately. And on a Sunday morning too! The menu was in full Spanish but we all knew what we came for… grilled fish & ceviche! The thing to get is the aguachiles for an appetizer and the sarandeado (grilled fish). To me they were delicious Mexican fare. I really liked the grilled fish. It was the bomb. The aguachilles are good too over the tostadas. It’s just Mexican seafood… don’t expect an «A» rating and a cleaner than clean restaurant. It is what it is. Our table was just a slab of plywood with a big ass umbrella! Lol. The food is okay. No rice & beans… just seafood! Come with a bunch of friends to chill out and don’t expect a whole lot and you’ll be good. Like a piece of TJ in your backyard Lol.

Been coming here for years… just get la nueva orden especial… and the pescado sarandeado… that will beat anything out there… aimple flavorfull… I don’t know qhat the 1 star reviews are about but this is definitely the spot… if u want good food come here and prices can’t be beat

I don’t know what these people are talking about this place is a GEM I love it. My favorite is the pescado sarandeado and the aguachiles best I’ve ever had. My bf and I are addicted to this place we call it our «fix» also for the people complaining about the «veins» still being in the shrimp, sweetie ur not going to die nor get sick I’ve been eating shrimp that way since I can remember. It can be a bit pricey but its very much worth it.

It was my first time going there on sunday feb 1! With my boyfriend who has gone there any times before. So, the place and vibe were great; i felt welcomed and reminded me of mexico! I ordered cocktel de camarones caliente and my boyfriend order idk what (sorry). I believe it was tostadas mixta with pulpo, crab y camaron. Estava todo bien limpio! The food tasted really clean and delicious. !
When we finished that! We just chilled for a bit listen to the little banda there which is really entertiaing and good!
My boyfriend mentioned to me that they used to let you take your own beer but i guess they had some problems with the city or cops? Iam not sure but i mean they get more money by selling thier own beer! But then agian… My boyfriend only drank 2 beer which he usually drinka more. Lol
At the end he ordered this fish! They bring it to you to the table whole and it has lemons on it and onions and tomatoes omg it was soooooooooo GOOD!

Not even a ½ star! Placed sucked!!! You used to be able to bring in your own beer! Think that was the reason why i liked coming here…

This is the place to come for some great Mariscos… It’s a whole in the wall. The dinning area reminds me of Nayarit

Its been like 10 yrs since the last time i ate here. Our tab was $ 78 and we had one tostada de ceviche de pescado and a tostada de ceviche de camaron. 3 modelos 2 cokes and 2kg of pescado zarandeado.
We also ordered the aguachile which we had to send back. It was gray and the veins were not removed.
NEVER ORDER ANYTHIN WITH SHRIMP. it was gross i couldnt believe they could send somethin of that quality out. When we asked to send it back the waiter gave us a hard time talkin about «theres nothing wrong with it, thats how we serve it here» im a server if someone sends somethin back i apologize and take it back and let my kitchen know. I dont bicker with my patrons!
The food came out fairly quickly but why wouldnt it, it wasnt even cooked.
Its a cool place to chill with a large group or a family lunch theres live music (we had a drunk girl singing her lungs out it wasnt pretty so hopefully you dont get an annoyin drunk when you go) and the occassional vendors. from cds to belts you name it you’ll find it.
Ill probably go again in another 10 years and just for the fish.

3 stars – tostada mixta. octopus, mild cooked shrimp, and imitation crab
3 stars – shrimp cocktail… the shrimp was over cooked and had more cucumbers then any thing.
3 stars – aguachile…cucumber, tomato, lime looked like they were cut yesterday and the shrimp was not cleaned.
3 stars – oysters…just basic but order them when your ready to eat them or just ask the waiter for some ice under them .
I came at 9am when they just opened up so I guess that was bad timing. table were sticky and waiter could be found .live music is played later on in the day and is more like a kick back to eat seafood drink and listen to corridos.

Estos vatos valen verga le pides un kilo de ceviche de la especial y te dan como medio kilo!
