No longer the Grecian Palace. What a shame to see that little gem go. I do not recommend the new place, it was so awful I honestly can’t even remember the name. I got chicken lemon rice which was average, and I got Saganaki(flaming cheese). I was super excited when I saw the portion size on the Saganaki but then one bite led to huge disappointment. Either the cheese was not Kasseri cheese or the cheapest version on the planet. It tasted as mild and plain as a terrible mozzarella. Stay away.

No longer the Grecian Palace. Now it’s a place called the Melting Pot. :-(

The phone number doesn’t work and they don’t have a website? It’s almost 2012. Get it together.

I came back to check the other dishes, ordered the Healthy Chicken-came with 2 big pieces of chicken breast, loads of yellow rice, and lots of little trees(I meant broccoli). I ordered the lemon sauce on the side, and what a wonderful flavor to perk up the food. it also came with flavorful lemon rice soup… aaah, I am so full and still had some to take home. Wonderful waitress, funny cook(who I believe is the owner)…I give it 5 stars, and I can see the Greek gods high-fiving ;-)

Warning: Grecian Palace does not look like an actual Grecian palace from the outside, mostly because it’s in a strip mall. Actually, I don’t know what a Grecian palace looks like. If such a place is filled with tables, neon green tiles and hot pink accents surrounded by a smoky miasma with the scent of grease(and Greece), then it looks like a Grecian Palace on the inside. This place is in the same strip mall as Sabidee and next to Powerhouse Gym. Because of its proximity to the gym, I observed gym bunnies and body builders come in and eat. Also, Grecian Palace contributes to healthy eating by providing lots of lean, low-fat dishes like a «Workout Omelette» with egg whites, broccoli and chicken. Oh, and the omelettes are listed in the menu as Ah! melettes. Charmant, non? You’ll probably find that GP is about the same as any other coney diner in the city. It’s got greek food, italian food, salads, pita sandwiches, breakfast all day long. One thing I did find strange is that they serve breakfast all day but it’s $ 1 more after 11am. Also, they have«weekly specials» that are available Monday through Friday for $ 1 more. I guess that means if you got a «special» on Saturday night it would be $ 2 more, which is about a 33% increase. Anyway, it’s something to consider in advance. I got my usual eggs over easy, hash browns, ham, rye toast. All was cooked perfectly. It cost $ 3.89 which is cheap. Also, it was a lot of food. I would guess double the hash browns and the ham than you would get at another chain, like National. The server was spot on. She wasn’t the cheeriest person on Earth, but I don’t need a lot of cheer in the morning. I need my coffee. She provided that promptly. I’m down with that. The biggest drawback was that the restaurant was very smoky. I guess that will be corrected in about a month when the state goes smoke-free. Other than that it was an excellent breakfast experience. Finally, the last thing I noted was the front of the menu says, «Original Owners are Back!» I don’t know where they went. It reminds me of that Fastball song about the old people that just got up and walked away and never were heard from again. That song was based on a real news article. I feel like the owners just got up and walked away, but then realized that was dumb and came back. Anyway, they’re back and they have some good food so you should check it out. Oh, and check out the review by Valerie G. If she liked it, then you should too. She’s a Unilocal!superstar.

WOWOWOW is the impression you get from this place. I came here very apprehensive with my mom one day and have been returning at least once a week now! This place is awesome. 1. Very low prices 4 – 7 dollars 2. Large, massive quantities 3. Family owned and run, Nice and friendly :) I always get chili cheese fries for an appetizer and it comes on a huge plate, french fries falling off, and covered in home made chili and cheese! Yummy $ 2.99 Then my mom and i split the grilled chicken salad that comes in a gigantic bowl, that you would mix a cake it, with two large chicken breast grilled and sliced and crumbled blue cheese! and my favorite part… HOMEMADESECERTRECIPEPINKGREEKDRESSING. to die for! $ 6.99 comes with a bowl of soup and a bread basket so 10.00 dollars for a filling lunch between my mom and i, NOTBAD!!!

This little place is in the same plaza as Sabidee at 14 Mile and Campbell — even though this map on Unilocal seems to be suggesting otherwise. When we first moved to Ferndale, we ate at and got carry-out from this little Greek joint allllll the time. Someone else took over the restaurant for a while and we were less than impressed with the food quality. On one of my many recent trips to the Caribou or credit union in that same plaza, we noticed that the original signage had returned — and thus decided to stop in again this weekend. I am pleased to announce that this place has returned to its former self. Now I am not a connoisseur of Greek food– so I don’t know what the food would need to taste like to be considered amazing. In my mind, if my family was Greek — this is what homemade meals in our house would taste like. The food is good, the portions are huge, and the prices are spot-on. Their menu is pretty extensive — and breakfast is available all day. My husband ordered one of their specials-of-the-day– He got a HUGE chicken kabob, a pile of gyro meat with onion, tomato and cucumber garnish, a huge plate of rice, a bowl of thick lemon rice soup and rice pudding for dessert. It was enough to fill him up for dinner with leftovers to eat for lunch the next day. How much? $ 7.95. Ridiculous. If you are jonesing for some Greek — I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest stopping in here. In addition to the things I’ve mentioned above, we have also always received fast and friendly service. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing place I have ever eaten at, but who cares. We will definitely be re-adding this place to the rotation.
