Chicken was dry, chicken schwarma was really odd, the garlic sauce was decent. The best part about this place is the door to leave…

Food is superb and the servers are very attentive. Never disappointed. I work close by and have made Al-Makan my spot for lunch. Good pricing too.

I was here before and could have sworn I sat in a booth. Not a booth in site, it was all tables and chairs. I wasn’t sure if I had the right place. There was only one other person in the entire restaurant. We started talking to the waiter and he said they took out all the booths and they now do a lot more parties. Oh, so that explains the party hall feel. Not a great feel for a restaurant. He told us that on Mondays the food is half price and they are usually busy on Monday. Our waiter was great and very attentive! The food was alright — we both loved our fattoush salad, but were not told it was $ 1.50 extra if you order that instead of the house salad. The chicken kabob was great! But my shish kafta was just ok. Meals range in price from about $ 10 — $ 22. Lunch menu $ 7 — $ 9

Haven’t been here since the remodel. It felt like I was walking into an empty vfw hall. There were about 40 tables but only 2 had people sitting at them. I ordered chicken shawarma w grilled veg for $ 13.99. It took 25 minutes to prepare. The kid said they were busy. Not sure how. Got home and realized the meal didn’t even come w bread and garlic sauce. The veg were mushy and the chicken was dry. Won’t be visiting this restaurant again

I work around the area, so one day my coworkers and I decided to order lunch from there. BADIDEA we had ordered fattoush salads, while eating them my PREGNANT coworker looked down at her salad and noticed what looked to be a cockroach, we laughed and thought it was just a over cooked piece of pita, until we saw legs. We immediately called them and told them about the disgusting find, they asked her to please bring over the salad with the cockroach so they could show their exterminator the bug. When she showed up she was greeted with a new salad and 15% off cards, and a girl took the cockroach salad to the back, like that was going to rectify the situation. You served a PREGNANTWOMAN a cockroach salad and thats the best you can do? Obviously we will NEVEREVEREVER even consider eating at that disgusting place, and we tell everyone that comes in about our disgusting ordeal with them. Definitely a reason why no one is ever in there dining. WISH I COULDGIVENOSTARS!!!

I work in a near by business and we would order from here because the food was what we thought to be somewhat decent. Well on the last and I’m happy to say final time we went there I ordered a fattoush salad. When I started to eat it I found half of a cockroach in my salad(it scares me to think of what happened to the other half). When we called them to tell them of the situation they asked that we bring the cockroach in as proof. So we brought it to them to show them it and with not even an apology we were given a new salad and(get this). A 15% off coupon for next time… NOTHANKS. I’m good you can have your roaches I won’t be coming here again

Worst dining experience ever! I don’t recommend this restaurant… but it’s sooo bad I kinda want you to experience it first hand. It’s comical. From the moment you walk in the door you wish you hadn’t …but then you think to yourself«well, the food could be okay?» but then you look around and see 53 of 55 seats empty… not too comforting — but with no one there, the service should be great, right? Wrong. Probably her first day. The place had a cold uninviting cafeteria /hall feel — I know what you’re thinking… JUSTLEAVE! Look, we were starving, just got our two young daughters out of their car seats, and felt committed to see this through. The first«card» table we sat at literally had a 4 inch side to side wobble to it. To straighten/level it, we would of needed to wedge a bible under one leg. Unfortunately we forgot our bible… so we moved tables… testing on the way until we found one that was flat… enough.(but they had to wipe it down again because oil was all over it… even though there were already place settings on it as if it was clean) We used to «like» this place(partly because it was never that crowded and our crazy kids could act a bit crazy… so the lack of people wasn’t it) — but this remodel /change of management was horrible from top to bottom. What I missed most at this point was 1.) cozy booths and 2.) their liquor license. We started our dinner with an order of hummus with bread and veggies. 10 mins later: «no veggies» and cold bread. «Enjoy your hummus» — we didn’t. We then ordered chicken and lamb shawarma sandwiches and a spinach salad. Now this is my favorite part of the meal — We actually watched the greeter/waitress walk out of the restaurant and return 10 mins later with two plastic bags of spinach… pretty convenient having an Aldi next door. We asked for the salad with no pita chips or tomatoes… oopsie — at least they got it right the second time. The shawarma sandwiches were the worse I’ve had — the meat was poor quality — tough and dry, the veggies were limited, the sauce lacked flavor and the pita was over-cooked/hard. I am NOT a fan of the pita sandwiches cracking when I take bite. Just sucks. Look — the setting is not comfortable, the service was just okay, the food was not very good and it all seemed(obviously) a bit overpriced. But be adventurous… check it out! Now excuse me… my stomach hurts — I have to use the restroom.

Running errands all day. Ended up at the Staples store next door. Went in for a carry –out. Not a soul in the place. No music, no nothing.Awwwkkk. ward. Sandwich was decent. Soup was horrible. No seasoning and stone cold. And I mean stone cold. It didn’t even seem microwaved. The counter lady was friendly but her young son(?) was eating by the register, which kinda bothered me. Not very sanitary.

I decided to take my sister to this place for lunch and unfortunately after we ate we both ended up with horrible stomach pains. She left the rice out for a bit on her table that same day and later on smelled the rice and it was rancid. I’m guessing we were possibly served old food? I’ve now been fully turned off to middle-eastern food because of the sickness I felt after eating here. Oh yeah and the meat yet again was DRY! I am not fully saying it was definitely the food here, BUT… it was highly likely the food since I didn’t eat anything else that was questionable. This place is always dead when I go in there and I’m starting to get the feeling there’s a reason for it. Take A LOT of probiotics if you do decide to go in there because you may need a bathroom quickly.

I picked up dinner for me and my wife from this place the other day and it was a regrettable experience. Nothing was fresh at all. Also the cook apparently didn’t even bother heating up the food either. We actually didn’t finish the food and had to throw a lot of it away. The food did not sit well in our stomachs and we were actually happy that we did not get sick because of it. What we ordered was fatoush, chicken wings, hummus with chicken shawarma, lentil soup and a falafel sandwich. The fatoush was extremely bitter and didn’t contain any pita like it should. The soup was absolutely cold and did not taste good at all. The shawarma on the hummus was cold and tasted like it has been sitting around for a while. The chicken wings were described in the menu as «fried then sauteed with a oregano lemon sauce». Not sure where the oregano lemon part was but it definitely was not on that chicken. They were simply deep fried chicken wings with overused oil. If you live in the area there are other Mediterranean food options that are way much better. Options that are not great but at least edible.

I started ordering carry out from here in 2009 when it was Sheesh. The food was awesome, very fresh, prepared well and great portions. The restaurant changed names in 2010 and I was nervous but I was advised that management was the same. Recently, I ordered carry out and everything went downhill and quickly! My dinner was overdone, the meat was poor quality and portions were much smaller. 2 pieces of my kabob had a majority of chewy meat and our soup was definitely not as good. Needless to say we won’t be going back.

This place started so well, but has now fallen way beyond acceptable. We started eating here in October of 2010 and it was great food. However, in the past year and a half has fallen off drastically. The last 3 or so times have just been unacceptable. We always carry out and order the same thing, Schwarma Combo, small Baba Ghanouj and a Fatoush Salad. The last few times the chicken has been of poor quality, chunked together, overcooked and under-seasoned. And of low quality to boot. Although the lamb part is still very good. It just seems like the effort into their food is just enough to get by. No heart, soul or effort. Just the bare minimum to survive in a market where it has no real competition.

Their garlic sauce is very oily but the service is always great. Price wise it is decent. Overall I enjoy coming to La Makan but it isn’t my first choice and if it wasn’t close by work, I’d much rather go elsewhere.

Good food, not a bad place to check out. Do it with a friend though. I found out they have a discount through the Mobile app Mobibo. Get near the place, and you will get a notification for any 2 for $ 20. At least that’s what I received. Anyways, free download the app, got a deal, got paid to view the deal, had pretty good food, and was a good price for 2 people to eat. All around not bad! The Falafel is pretty good, but small(get that when I am low on cash, beats McDonald’s). Check the menu and get your money’s worth with the deal. Me and my buddy ate pretty darn well for $ 10 bucks each. Not 5 stars, but worth the change up every so often. 3 stars solid.

I left my work at lunch today with $ 6.00 and a shitty attitude. I went driving around, looking for something. ANYthing that wasn’t fast food. I saw this place in the strip mall and went in to grab a Falafel. I hadn’t read any reviews on the place or even heard of it, so I took my chances. I didn’t even look around when I walked in, but the place was DEAD quiet *insert cricket chirping here* I grabbed a menu and looked at sandwiches. Falafel $ 3.50. Sold. I could have grabbed potato wedges and a cup of soup for $ 4.00 more. Did I read that right? $ 4.00 more? Yep, I did. So falafel it is and i’m on my way. The sandwich was tasty, although a little small. It kinda filled me up, but then again i’m the size of an 11 year old girl so… I wouldn’t recommend JUST the sandwich, but when you’re on a budget, you make due. I really liked the taste of the pickled turnips. Reminded me of the pickling my grandma used to do. Made me smile a tiny bit. Janelle is right about the menu though! If you don’t know anything about Middle Eastern food, you still won’t know a damn thing after reading the menu. So, for $ 3.50 I got a decent, although slightly small falafel. It appears alot of people went to alot of trouble to try to give this place 5 star reviews and they were all nixed. Good job, as this definitely isn’t a 5 star place, but 3 stars for the sandwich I think is fair.

From the people who brought you La Shish comes Al Makan… I got the hummus chicken, which was a blander version of what they used to serve. My wife got a chicken shawarma sandwich, which was just bone-dry chunks of chicken wrapped in a week-old pita and garnished with a pickle and some toum. Vomit. The interior is relatively nice, and there’s a big sign on the wall behind the register bragging about how the people who ran La Shish are now running this hellhole. There are so many better, cheaper Middle Eastern restaurants in Detroit that you shouldn’t waste your time or money eating in this toilet. But given that this restaurant is run by the same people who ran La Shish, you should keep in mind that when you order Hummus Chicken with a side of Tabbouleh, you’re really ordering Hamas Chicken with a side of Hezbolleh.
