I went in to buy a pair of Costa sunglasses since mine broke earlier in the day. They had the style frame I was looking for, in the color I was looking for, but when it came time for me to try them on I could not find an employee. After standing around for a few minutes and seeing numerous employees walk by me and not even look in my directions, let alone speak to me I left. I decided my money was better spent somewhere where the employees actually care about their job and helping customers. As I was leaving I noticed two different employees standing around talking to friends. It would probably help if they hired people who were there to work, not socialize. If you don’t need anything that requires an associate get it, this place is fine. If you need something that’s locked up, go elsewhere.

Nice to have this store in Madison. From my experience, there are two kinds of outdoors stores: the hunting/fishing kind and the hiking/camping kind. This is an little like the latter and an odd mix of «country cool» stuff. They have a lot of patagonia gear along with north face, Yeti coolers, backpacks, great selection of shoes like Toms, Chaco, and Hunter rain boots. When their stuff is on sale, it’s usually a pretty good deal. They have some adventure card thing they offer which is supposedly how you can get good deals. You make purchases then get store credit for maybe 5% of what you buy(you may want to double check that number.) The catch is you have to PAY for the adventure card. No thanks. If you want my business, then don’t make me pay to shop there at a decent price. It’s not Costco. The staff is nice. I usually hate these kinds of stores, because they have a bunch of punk high schoolers working in them who don’t care about your presence in the store at all. This store isn’t like that fortunately. They make the rounds asking if you need help and leave you alone when you tell them you don’t. That’s what I like(I hate being ignored apparently as much as being hovered over while shopping… guess I’m picky.) My only complaint is they obviously find something to compliment you on before asking what you want. If you’re ever fishing for compliments, step into this store. So far, I’ve gotten«oh you look just like so and so!» «I love those shoes!» and«That’s the softest looking sweater I’ve ever seen.» Obviously that last one was the girls best attempt when I went in there after rolling out of bed for my sister’s birthday present. Anyway, it’s worth checking out for sure, and if paying for special coupons is your thing, you’d really like it. UPDATE: I was there on Black Friday as my last stop. I was not the nicest person at that point in the day, and the manager was coincidentally checking me out at the register. Despite my rude behavior, he was nothing but nice to me explaining something I misunderstood and fixing the problem that was really my fault. I think it speaks highly of a person who was I’m sure more exhausted than me considering he was working from who knows when that morning and still acting so kindly.
