Came here a couple of years ago and had a so-so experience but decided to give it another try… glad we did ! This roll was one of the best I’ve had in the area! Service was quick and enjoyable! RANGETSU(RAW) Tuna, white fish, cream cheese, cucumber and tempura flakes wrapped in avocado and topped with baked lobster, shrimp, conch and snow crab

LOVE the gluten free menu! Hello gluten free tempura! This has long been a favorite spot, but it ranks even higher now with the gfree offerings. Great happy hour too, which also includes Tito’s vodka drinks! Great atmosphere and décor inside, fabulous patio outside, excellent staff.

Really superb sushi. However, be aware that it is a little unnecessarily expensive and the volcano roll is an explosion of grease.

We go out to eat, ALOT however I only write reviews on restaurants that I feel compelled to write a review on. With that said, Rangetsu is one of those restaurants. I had one of the best cooked meals at a restaurant for a long time, if not the best finely cooked meal I’ve had at a restaurant that I can recall. We ventured out to find the place and we were pleasantly surprised to know it’s not that far from Winter Park proper and there’s a pretty lake for scenery out in the front of the restaurant. It’s scenic on the outside of the restaurant and when you go into the restaurant, the ambiance is quite nice. It’s modern, yet chill and refined-just what we like. :) The only points I will knock off and it may even be a decimals of a point are for the appetizers. The appetizers were not bad in fact they were good; they just were not spectacular. But, really who goes to a restaurant by the just judging the appetizers. We got the Calamari-nice and crispy and they gave a lot! We also got the Volcano roll-now I’m kind of a sushi snob and the roll was kind of small and what I can say I’ve had better Volcano rolls but really the sushi was good, just not spectacular. Maybe though, I can’t knock the sushi until I try another sushi roll. As for the entrees! Drumroll please… best Chilean Sea Bass I’ve ever had-seasoned with fresh vegetables and potatoes and the sea bass was glazed over with a nice Teriyaki sauce. It was so melt in your mouth, it was unbelievable. I thought I was full but I couldn’t stop eating the meal itself because everything was so good. I was told the restaurant was known for their Chilean Sea Bass and WOW I understand why. The recipes get passed on from generation and generation. This is one recipe that may have been passed down and should not ever change because this dish is mouthwatering and nothing short of spectacular. My boyfriend got the NY skirt steak, now I’m not a big meat fan but, his plate was sizzling(yes, like a fajita plate), that I had to get a taste. I took a bite and OMG, is this for real?! I told myself if I had steak like this more often-I probably would be eating more red meat because it was that good-Ruth’s Chris steak was a fierce competitor but Rangetsu’s steak wins hands down. I kept asking my bf for more bites of his steak because I couldn’t get enough but he did enjoy my sea bass too. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant with spectacular cuisine, with a nice ambiance inside and out. We are so excited we found this place! Rangetsu-you have been etched into our minds and we cannot wait to come back to chill out and chow down! Yummmmmmmy!

The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because I decided to wait it out instead of going to Taco Bell. The food ended up being very good, but we were there about 2.5 hours for just 2 sushi rolls each. We ordered as soon as the waitress came over, which took about 30 min. to begin with. I would understand if it was crazy busy, but the place wasn’t packed at all on a Wednesday night after happy hour. Our drinks alone took about 15 minutes and she forgot our sake to boot. The waitress apologized for the wait and gave us a choice of free soup or salad but again, we only saw her a total of 5 times totaling less than 1 minute probably. The manager only came over once after the bill was paid and asked if everything was ok but offered no accommodation. He was very polite and we told him the food was good but we had an hour and a half wait. He didn’t offer any accommodation but said sorry. For my first time, I will say the good was good. But there are a lot of great sushi places in Orlando that serve you much quicker and are much more attentive if they are running slow. I don’t think I’ll return here :/

Totally disappounted. I have had Japanese food all over the world including in Japan… and this place just doesn’t work. I’m confused why there is cheese toast as an appetiser. The menu is a little Bennigans but pricier. If you want good japanese in a hip environment… this ain’t it.

I have been coming to Rangetsu for years but this was my first chance to finally eat at this location since they left International Drive. I came for dinner at night and was immediately impressed by the décor and lighting. It felt like more of a night club than the old traditional Rangetsu I was used to eating at in my youth. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The food is delicious like it always was at the old location. We started out with the Pork gyoza and it was awesome. I love how crispy the make the outside of the gyoza and the sauce they serve it with is some sort of a soy based sauce that goes very well. We ordered 3 sushi rolls for dinner and it was plenty of food after fearing we hadn’t ordered enough. The rolls are large — they have 10 – 12 pieces — and they are well prepared with fresh fish that leave you craving more. I always love the spicy tuna here and will get any roll that has that in it. Overall food is 5 stars, service is 4 stars as it was a little slow to get our order in, but overall a great meal and I would definitely come back.

Excellent original Japanese food. The owner, chef and some of the servers are Japanese. Can’t miss it

15 minutes to be seated with lots of tables open which means there is a management/recruitment issue. The food is just okay. As in you will probably get better sushi at Publix(yeah I said it). Sushi seemed less than fresh for a not terrible yet completely underwhelming sushi experience.

Probably the best kept secret in all of Florida. You can’t go wrong from the unique sukiyaki to make it how you want it food. I love this place!

We came to Rangetsu because they have a new Gluten Free menu(Pictures Below, 08÷28÷15). As you can see in their menu, they have several options, from salads to tapas to their Rabata Grill and of course Rolls and Entrees. Even though they have Gluten Free Tempura, it is pointless because they DONOT have a dedicated GF fryer. They have 1 shared/common fryer and so my wife who has Celiac would get very sick. I don’t know of many people who have a gluten allergy, that would be okay with a shared fryer. Still, there are many other options in their menu, including Gluten Free Soy Sauce. My wife had grilled salmon and veggies with scallops from the rabata grill. Her dished came with salada and gluten free dressing. My sister and I shared their steak Sukiyaki — First time for me but loved it. It was a nice experience!

Pro’s: Great taste, ordered the bento box and it gives you 4 things to choose from, great way to taste different things all at once. Also I ordered something that wasn’t on the menu and they made it for me at no extra cost. Beautiful décor and atmosphere. Nice customer service, very polite and patient. Complimentary valet. Con’s: food was cold when it came out, my boyfriend and I sat for a little while without water and I was given the wrong rice.

The atmosphere is well lit and there’s an outside patio with fire posts and lights. There os also complimentary valet parking available. The food came out delicious and beautifully presented. The only complaints I have is the speed of service and that they brought out white rice when my girlfriend ordered fried rice.

I would love to put my 2 cents into this place. Maybe the value of food for the money isn’t great but, but .But this place is pretty different and beautiful and try on, on happy hour!! Ive been coming here since 2011 and a few things i will tip you on: get a sit by the bar, the bartender is so sweet, honest and whole the way, amazing!!! They have 6 days a week happy hour(most places have 5 days) You just have to try their Florida happy hour roll. It’s good, as well as calamari. You won’t feel sorry. Rangetsu is fun and a very exceptional experience. Especially if they got some sort of anniversary. Who don’t like the Japanese drummers as a special treat? I do

Our first few minutes here weren’t the best… it took 15 minutes for a server to come to our table, and only after we asked why they hadn’t been there yet. But after that, the experience was great. We especially appreciated that they were very knowledgeable and accommodating to our gluten free needs. The ambiance and décor is excellent and the food quality was great. I would recommend a visit and we will return again, I’m sure.

Average, the nigiri was amazing but I felt like it was a bit overpriced, the sushi rice was well prepared and the fish was tender and dissolve in your mouth the atmosphere is great and the service is excellent but I have had better sushi for far less money. (Update) after going to Arigato sushi and having a fresh memory of this place in mind I bumped down the rating by one star because of a couple of things first, The service is way faster and Arigato sushi and the rolls are bigger and more flavorful, you are pretty much paying for the location here if you want real good sushi go to Arigato sushi on semoran the place looks a bit rundown but you will not be disappointed

So I came back to try it now that I live in the apartment above it praying they would be better but it was the saddest disappointment of my life. I the salmon tasted horrendous, it still had its silver skin on it and it’s not like I can return it because I ordered it Togo. The atmosphere is beautiful a great first date place and the service was great. But the sushi was not the best in town as they claim. I had the Philadelphia roll and the tiger roll, it was the same quality as eating sushi from publix. I am not coming here again, if you want quality sushi for the same maybe even a lower price go to «Arigato«there sushi is 10 times better. They have so much flavor and they don’t skimp out on the salmon. I wanted to try a new fancy place but I guess I am sticking to Arigato for now.

This has been on the list of «we want to go here» for over a year… the time finally came. I am not a sushi guy, as I prefer my fish cooked, so I won’t be of any help to you on that end. The restaurant itself was quite modern inside, you can tell they spent a good bit of money with the décor(even the bathrooms have lit up countertops). The ambiance was very relaxed, and the food presentation was all done up with great presentation. They also get a plus for a large patio just off of Lake Lily. Our server was excellent, she went over the entire menu with us, and took time to let us know what was the specialty of the restaurant. We ended up going with the Sukiyaki, which threw both my wife and I off with the thought of dipping everything in a raw egg. After trying this, you must embrace the egg. The flavor profile is so much richer, it just ties the entire dish together. Upon a repeat visit, we would definitely both order this again, with the cool factor that it is prepared table side. Overall, we both wondered why we took so long to go here, and will be returning again soon.

Love the décor of this hidden restaurant. It’s location can almost be missed since it’s located at the bottom of a very nice apartment building across from Lake Lily. I was invited to join a friend and her monthly meetup group to try out the Bite30 menu. Rangetsu is one of many restaurants participating in the month long special. There were 10 of us so it was fairly a large party. I will start by saying that service was great but we could have used another waiter due to the size of our party. The kitchen seemed a little overwhelmed also as it did take some time to get items. We all ordered drinks and took advantage of the $ 5 Happy Hour which usually runs until 7pm. Honestly if you’re wanting a quick bite to eat and a drink after work, just order from the Happy Hour Menu. The menu consists of several appetizers including full size sushi rolls. I started off with a glass of sangria and pork Gyoza dumplings. The presentation was so nice. Most restaurants just bring them out on a plate with a side of soy sauce. These came in their own sizzling plate and were still sizzling when they were brought to the table. They tasted pretty good and I would order them again. As far as the Sangria is concerned, just order something else. It was basically orange juice and wine with garnish. I chose to order off of the Bite30 menu and others chose to order off the regular menu. Ordering off this menu gave me a choice of soup or salad, appetizer entrée and dessert. I chose the salad, tuna flatbread for my appetizer, beef sukiyaki and the Godiva Chocolate cake. Everything was wonderful! The salad was fresh and the dressing was not your typical orange ginger dressing. I had never had Sukiyaki so when they brought out a hot plate along with raw meat and veggies and eggs I was confused. Lol! Let’s just say it’s the Japanese version of fondue. Your waiter cooks it all for you at the table. What I found most interesting is that you dip your cooked items into a raw scrambled egg to cool it down. I was skeptical but it was delish! I was so stuffed that I ended up taking my dessert home. It was good but nothing that I haven’t had before. I definitely recommend this place and I will be back soon!
