Really nice place on park Avenue. I fully recommend this sushi restaurant, specially because they are the only place in town that serves the true Temaki like in Japan. Very tasteful sushi and miso soup.

I have never payed for sushi that was too disgusting to eat. Until trying this place. Don’t spend your money here!!! 30 minutes for my 2 hand rolls and 1 sushi roll. That was fine since I had an errand to run. However the food was terrible. The sushi was not fresh, the roll was falling apart, they even messed up my very simple order even though I was literally one of two people in the place. I was very hungry after missing lunch, but this was too bad to eat. I took 3 bites and couldn’t tolerate any more– and I hate being wasteful. I usually will eat what I chose to pay for, but in this case I actually couldn’t stomach the idea. Also, I agree with other commenters that the payment situation is awkward. The guy swiping my card didn’t even mention the fact that the system automatically selects the 18% tip option. I will not be returning, and am kind of in shock that this place is even in business.

The website menu drew me in and when I asked where the lunch combo was the answer was oh we don’t do that anymore ! Update your website people!!! The service was good and friendly. The Tuna roll I ordered was really nothing special. I agree with others that said it had a feel like fast food burger place. Not a totally negative experience but I won’t be back.

First off, we enter the place(it was empty) and the server was sitting down on a table, looks at us with a blank face, and asks us AS she was sitting down if we were going to eat there. Then we continued to sit at our table as she comes up to us and yawns in front of us and asks us what we want. We had never been and since its a new concept, a little of information about the place would have been nice. We decided to go through the reviews on Unilocal as we were there, which almost made us walk out and regret coming in but decided to give the place a chance. We got two sushi rolls, and two maki hand rolls. The rice wasnt cooked right, but it wasnt as bad as we expected. When we were done and the server brought our check she stood their and waited until we got our cash out instead of giving us the time and space to figure out our bill. This place needs a lot of work especially with service. Its in a very nice location, if it doesnt get better I dont see it staying there for much longer.

The server was nice but was not knowledgeable of anything on the menu. All I ordered was two hand rolls, a salmon and an escolar. I had to repeat my order to her 2 more times after the initial order of my meal. This would be somewhat understanding if it were busy in there but I was the ONLY person there. After getting my order right it took them over a half an hour to make two hand rolls. They are lucky they have no business otherwise no one would ever get their food. After receiving the food I was underwhelmed. The escolar was mediocre at best. The salmon had zero flavor which is alarming considering raw salmon has a very distinct flavor. I cannot imagine this establishment being open much longer. Management needs to train the staff in the front and back of the house.

Below average sushi. The hand roll was disgusting and missing ingredients. Every other place on the street was packed and we were the only ones there. It was like the fast food version of sushi

Being the only customers in the whole restaurant we received slow service between both the Sushi chef and server. My friend and I got two hand rolls each. It took about 30 minutes to get all four of our hand rolls out. Understandable if they were busy, but this was not the case. The server forgot my Miso soup and straws for our drinks. He took forever to cash us out. Everything was through a hand held iPad and I felt like it slowed down the ordering and cashing out process. For the sushi It was standard and I felt like the sushi rice or whatever rice they use was low quality. Very mushy. The fish was standard. I ordered the crispy tuna and the three fish hand rolls. Overall it was o.k. Not happy with my experience mostly because of the customer service.

It’s easy to find low calorie options here. Servings are small but satisfying. Prices are good, which make ordering more possible if the serving isn’t enough. They’re a quick eat. Because of the tamaki’s packaging,(it’s a cone, in cardboard containers) it’s a good to-go, carry food. No fountain drinks, but they have individual beverages for purchase.

First I’d like to say that i’m not the type of person to write a terrible review but this place is a tragedy. Absolute garbage. I don’t cook or know how to make sushi, but I probably could make it better myself. I’m all about sushi but unfortunately this place is misleading with it’s hand rolled sushi. Everything about this place made feel like i was in a wendy’s or a burger king; better yet I felt like I was inside a lunch box. It’s fast food. Who in their right mind would want seafood that looks like a waffle cone? I’d made the mistake of choosing this sushi place over it’s neighbor across the street. Even the paint is coming off the walls from where people are rubbing their chairs against it. How long has this place been open? A couple of months? I should’ve seen the signs that on a busy weekend afternoon on park ave; every restaurant should be full, or at least have people in it. This place had no one! Make a decision and skip this place and drive onto a certain supermarket that starts with a «P» for sushi. It’s better. Or go across the street… Now, let me tell you about the service, piss poor. When we were there last week, we had our server telling us that this isn’t that busy of a place and there’s always more people at Burger Fii(next door). I’m surprised on how candid he was with that statement. So, I happened to glance at what I thought was the manager & all I saw was stress and/or worry. Can’t blame’em, this place is awful. Not to mention that I thought sushi was supposed be fresh, then why was the sushi guy taking tuna out a bag? Going out to eat should be an experience, this certainly was. I was absolutely furious when i left. I will never be back. Oh and the sauces look like hand lotion. Poor. For those who venture, you’re a brave one. Good luck waffle cone makers.

Fantastic — absolutely fantastic. I had two 3 fish mixed temaki — for only $ 12 bucks. Great quality and an awesome price given the quality of food. Bottom line: Forget Umi across the street and go here.

Very disappointed. The waiter was extremely inexperienced beyond just being new to this restaurant. That aside my 12 piece mixed sashimi for $ 14 was served on a small bed of shredded iceberg lettuce with a tiny amount of sliced ginger. The small pieces of tuna, salmon and white fish tasted ok but after paying over $ 17 I had eaten 3 Oz of fish at most(no rice!) and was still starving. My friend had 2 fish«cones» which were meh. We left still very hungry and had to go down the Avenue for second lunch. Tablet payment method is awkward, having to sign and tip with the server standing over…

I thought it was okay, Three stars because I didn’t like one of my rolls and they were nice enough to make me another one, and also really good customer service. I ordered the Miso Soup, Hot Tuna Temaki, and the Tonkatsu Temaki. The Miso Soup was a bit overly salty, the Hot Tuna Temaki was the highlight of it all, and the Tonkatsu was the one I did not really like. Once I took one bite I knew I couldn’t eat anymore.

Really delicious hand rolls at a great price point! The miso soup is some of the best my mom has ever had, and makes a great side since one hand roll is not enough if you’re super hungry. I love that there is Eel Sauce(Tare Sauce), Sweet Wasabi, and Wasabi Soy Sauces on the table so you can add as much as you want. Will be back again!

So happy to have another sushi option on Park Avenue! The temakis were unique and had a decent variety of choices. Like others have mentioned, avocado was typically extra. In addition to the temaki and sushi rolls, they also have salad and rice bowl options. I would recommend getting at least two temakis($ 5-$ 7 each); both of us thought that one would not have been filling.

The menu said kani(real crab), but everything was kanikama(fake crab). The california rolls aren’t actual california rolls, and you have to pay extra for avocado. When I asked for a tempura roll, they ROLLEDITINPANKOBREADCRUMBS, of all things. Have these people never heard of tempura batter?! Also, almost everything they serve is covered in cream cheese. In short, Not crab Not california rolls Not tempura Not coming back.

I had such high hopes for this place! I absolutely love sushi and I love eating with my hands, so this seemed like a great place for me. The place was clean, trendy and service was great. Quality of fish was ok but also very limited selection. In short, it seemed to me like a fast food joint, but at higher end pricing. The first thing I’d like to point out is that this place is based loosely on Japanese style sushi called temaki, or hand roll. However, a short conversation with the staff revealed that this establishment is actually a franchise of Brazilian origin. I was disappointed to see the selection of fish to be so limited. They had variations of salmon, tuna and white fish(escolar). Google escolar or white fish and you’ll never eat it again. No seriously go look it up. Go ahead, we’ll wait. I got 2 types of salmon rolls and at first glance they seemed awesome! Lots of little cubes of fish. I love geometrically perfect food so I gladly bit into it only to realize the entire back end was full of rice. And I don’t even mean really good sushi rice, I mean generic short grain rice that was made last night, impatiently cooked and stored in the fridge. The centers of the rice was still kind of hard, implying it wasn’t cooked enough, but the outsides of the rice was really mushy, implying it was stored in a damp environment for too long. My salmon crunch roll had little crunchy ball things in them that reminded me of miniature non-chocolate coco-puff cereals. Kind of weird and felt out of place. Also, a lot of their rolls have cream cheese in them, which is eehhhhh… My other gripe with the place was the price point. I feel that even in established sushi restaurants like Kabooki, Shin, or Hanamizuki you can get a hand roll for less than what is being charged at Maki. My two rolls came out to $ 14, a pot of water with a teabag came out to $ 6. After tax and tip, my portion was already over $ 25 and I was still hungry, so I went next door for a burger. In the end, I think this place has great potential. I love sushi and I’d love to be able to eat a hand roll while walking down the street. If there was a hole in the wall place on Park Ave that sold hand rolls for $ 5 with a decent amount of fish and good rice, then I’d do it every time I’m in Winter Park. However, I guess with this restaurant’s overhead and rent in the area, they can’t justify a $ 5 roll.

Cute urban spot located on Park Avenue. Nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon for lunch with friends or family.
