This place is the best! The owner is so sweet and kind, brought out some free appetizers to try while we waited and had very pleasant conversation. The food is as delicious as I’d hoped and super affordable. We tried the beef and chicken shish bowls — both meats were tender and cooked perfectly, and the picked onions were a nice treat. I will be back!

A lot of food, but probably my least favorite Greek place in the area. The food just didn’t do it for me, not as good as Mediterranean Blue or Cappadocia or Café Anne’s. I expected more from the place. But the owners were super nice to my wife and my niece while they waited on me to get done with a meeting, and service that awesome deserves an extra star.

Nicest owners ever. I stopped here with my sister for lunch while my husband ran to a meeting. We also had her baby and two dogs with us. We ordered a ton of food – which was all delicious, and then hung out in the covered seating area for an hour or so. The owner brought us dog bowls with water, was very friendly, and checked on us to make sure we were taken care of. Great service, great food, great people. *I do wish there were some indoor seating…

I love Turkish food, this was my 2nd visit and met my son for lunch today. On this rainy day, we sat in the covered area. I had a pita gyro and Gavin had a seafood dish. As I expected it was fantastic! Freshly made food and small café atmosphere. The owners surprised us with a treat of homemade baklava. Omg it was ridiculously good! You have to try this place. I can see them in a bigger spot soon but I do love the small personal vibe. This is more casual dining.

Fantastic! Go there now-seriously. So hard to find fresh, delicious food delivered in an easy unassuming environment. Honestly some of the best Turkish food I’ve tasted. Great quality, fresh ingredients, amazing combination of spices. Nearly everything is made on the spot right there. The kitchen is one room, with outdoor covered picnic tables on the side for self seating. Very laid back. The service is great for such a tiny place. The owner is attentive but not pushy. They genuinely seem to care about how happy you are with the food they serve. He brought us free bottles of water and then treated us with turkish coffee. Pros: awesome quality Large portions Fresh ingredients Great service Easy relaxing atmosphere Cons: seating in the middle of a parking lot, but covered

Hell yeah! Eat here now! The gyro’s are huge and tasty. Ingredients, spices, herbs and whatever other magic potions they put in the food here is amazing. Don’t kid yourself one gyro from these guys will fill you up! Worth every penny. I ‘checked in’ on Unilocal before ordering and received a 10% coupon. So for all of you not on Unilocal this the perfect time to join the club! I would’ve taken a picture of this awesome meal but was quickly swayed by the smell and vision of the spellbinding deliciousness…

The food is fantastic in this place. Very high quality and very good value. Got the beef kebab bowl and the meat was excellent. Then got the cookies with Turkish tea and both were great. Highly recommended. Good place of the weather is nice. People there are super nice and answer all the questions you have about Turkish food.

So pleased to find such an affordable and delish place located so close to my workplace! Went here as it made an honorable mention in Orlando Weekly’s Favorite restaurant’s that opened in 2015 and then the awesome Unilocal reviews(as well as the discount!!) made it as easy place to decide to go check out. Three of us went at lunchtime and ordered the Sampler Platter($ 12); Chicken Shish Kebab Bowl($ 9); Vegan Gyro($ 6.95); Mucvar(Zucchini Pancakes, $ 7.95) and for drinks got water and x2 Turkish coffees. All of this food came in under 40 bucks, after utilizing the Unilocal coupon(Thank you, Unilocal Orlando CM for wrangling this great deal), and we had heaps of leftovers — in fact just finished having some for dinner and there is still enough leftover for lunch tomorrow! The coffee was just superbly fantastic — absolutely the real deal and served with homemade Turkish delight. Each sip was full of roundness and smooth flavours that just slid down the throat. I am not really a coffee lover, and especially detest Espresso, but this coffee — the bean used and the roast was just absolutely to my taste. We all also devoured the sampler and it’s hard for me to pick a favorite among the 4 dips — loved the freshness of the carrot, eggplant and hummus dishes. My mum thought hummus had too much garlic, but I disagreed with her assesment. I think the kisir aka bulgar salad might have won as my favorite by a nose, if I absolutely had to nominate a dip to be ranked #1. The dip that came with the Zucchini pancakes looked like thousand island dressing but tasted nothing like it! It beautifully complimented the pancakes and I asked for another takeaway container as am thinking of re-purposing for use in a salad at home. My Chicken Shish Kebab bowl was a massive thing of beauty — visually stunning and also a delight in each bite. Each component of the bowl just totally complimented each other and the seasonings were spot on. I will so be back again — can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

An excellent place for a quick Turkish delight. The owner is a really nice guy who will instantly make you feel at home. Personally, I would suggest getting a Turkish coffee while you wait for your food. I’ve had Turkish coffee at a wide variety of locations and this is by far the best. It’s an earthy delight that will delight you. The doner is where this place really shines. The pita wrap is nice, but I would suggest getting the bowl, which comes with rice and vegetables served in a bowl of pita bread. Go ahead and treat yourself to this fat bowl, you deserve it. Make no mistake, this place is the shish.

One word: FANTASTIC! I was just passing by the area and noticed this strange little establishment in the middle of a parking lot. Curiosity treated me well as I braced a busy U-turn and headed back towards the restaurant. So a little bit about the place: outdoor seating only so if you can try to go a little later in a day when the weather cools down or just take it to-go. Order up front and take a seat(I went there when it was pretty slow so I imagine if its busy they’ll call you up). Food takes about 10 minutes, not bad at all. It’s all homestyle and well worth the wait. If you can’t bear the time, call ahead and pick up! Also, there’s one bathroom in the back. My gosh– the staff was so friendly and kind, and completely heartwarming! They were the definition of great customer service. Welcoming and patient. One older man(presumably the owner?) and a younger gentleman. I was pretty torn within the choices and they both recommended, basically bragged about how good their chicken shish kebab was(rightfully so), and happily convinced me to order the chicken gyro bowl in two smiles. After I ordered I forgot to mention that I wanted water and the man gave me a bottle on the house. That’s not just any water. That’s kindness water right there. The bowl came with a large lavash flat bread under generous portions of bulgur wheat grains, pickled red onions, chopped tomatoes, some seriously kickass chicken, and a side of tzatziki sauce. I asked for some homemade hot sauce, and if you dig spicy you should too. Guys, everything was so good. Seriously. Whatever you do, don’t leave Maitland without stopping by ShishCo!

I brought coworkers here for lunch after seeing consistently great Unilocal reviews. I didn’t realize the location before coming, but luckily the weather was perfect for outside dining and we beat the lunch rush. You order from the front window of the small stand and take a seat at one of the picnic tables on the side. Although the seating is only outdoors, it is partially shaded with a fan keeping the air circulating. I ordered the falafel and we ordered a sampler platter for the table. Canned sodas are the only drink options available, so although I would have preferred an unsweetened tea, I grabbed a Diet Coke. All of the food is made fresh everyday and prepared to order. It took a bit of time to get our orders. Not excessive, but noticeable. It would have been nice to get our drinks at the first window up front. The food was good. My falafel came on a large pita, topped with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber with tahini on the side. Because I like things flavorful and spicy, I doctored it up with hot sauce(spicy and delicious), hummus(super good), and the other spreads from the sampler. The falafel was very good and I liked the addition of the other favors. All of the items from the sampler platter were great. The only improvement I would note is that the pita that comes with the sampler was really tough. Hard to tear and eat. I prefer the softer pita, personally. It would also be awesome if the falafel could be offered as a bowl or a salad. Employees were very nice and brought out meals to our table instead of passing through the pick up window, which was a nice touch. Would come back!

I’m a huge fan of Turkish food, particularly the delicious version of gyro /doner kebab /lamb cuts that they make. It’s a little bit different from the typical Greek gyro meat you get around town — less processed, more grilled, and very delicious. The meaning of doner kebab literally means«rotating roast» as the stack of meats is cooked via a rotating spit roasted over a fire. Shishco Mezze and Grill is located in a strange building in the middle of a parking lot in Maitland. It used to be Fast Eddie’s Famous Burgers, then a smoothie joint, and a hot dog joint, among others. You order up at the window, kind of like at Checkers without a drive-thru. The spot only has a few picnic tables for seating outside, so most folks might want to take it to go. Mehmet Tanriver and Mehmet Gurkaynak, owner partners of Shishco Mezze and Grill in Maitland started their first restaurant in 2003 in Turkey. Shishco means chubby, mezze means Mediterranean appetizers — put it together you have chubby Turkish appetizers. The partners moved to Orlando from Adana, a southern part of Turkey near the Mediterranean coast, cooking everything fresh with free range beef and chicken. One loves cooking falafel and zucchini pancakes while the other enjoys cooking chicken wings and kofte — grilled ground beef patties blended with garlic, onion, and spices. On a recent visit for lunch, I ordered the gyro bowl, a generous bowl with a large lavash flat bread base overflowing with bulgur wheat grain, sliced pickled red onion, chopped tomatoes, and slices of beef and lamb doner /gyro. It was one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time and would go back again just for this. Go and try them out as soon as possible!

A fellow foodie and I met up here for lunch on 11÷6÷2015… I arrived ahead of my friend and took a few pictures of the place. It is a stand alone building with several long picnic benches and a covered area to sit. You pace your order at one window and pickup your food at the other window. Once my friend arrived, we ordered different things so we could sample as much as possible. I ordered the Doner Bowl, Fried Cauliflower, Shishco, Turkish Tea and some bottled water. My friend ordered the Kofte Bowl, Sigara Boregi, Coffee with Turkish Delight and a side of hot sauce. The wait was not as bad as I expected considering they make everything fresh and we did order a lot of food. It is amazing what two foodies can order for a meal. Because we ordered so many things we just let them send it out as it was made instead of all at once. It gave us a chance to take some pictures of everything. Doner Bowl — Gyro meat served with Rice, onions and tomatoes inside a bowl lines with Lavas. Kofte Bowl — Beef Patties served with Rice, onions and tomatoes inside a bowl lines with Lavas. The Gyro meat was EXCELLENT in flavor but the beef patties were a bit light on the salt and seasoning. The hot sauce helped the patties in the seasoning area but it was still a little flat because of too little salt. Everything else in the bowl was great and the Lavas was very nice. If you have never had Lavas, it is a flat bread commonly served in Turkey. The Fried Cauliflower was very good. I can never seem to get mine to brown this way. Nicely done… The Sigara Boregi or Turkish Egg rolls are Filo dough stuffed with Feta cheese, dill and parsley. They were very good but be warned, you should let them cool a little before biting into them. The coffee and tea were just what you should expect in Turkey and the Turkish delight was the bomb. The Shishco is a cookie that is unlike anything you have had but in a good way. Fair warning… It is very sweet. Doner Bowl — 5 Kofte Bowl — 3(Patties could have been seasoned better) Hot Sauce — 5 Fried Cauliflower — 5 Sigara Boregi — 5 Shishco — 5 Tea — 5 Coffee — 5 Turkish Delight — 5 To say I liked the food is an understatement. The worst thing I could say is that the meat patties were a but under seasoned but everything else was 100% spot on. I am guilty of under seasoning a burger or 2 in my life and will definitely be going back. Some of the other people there had the chicken shish kebobs and they looked and smelled wonderful so I will be giving them a try next. I am also looking forward to trying their Lamb Chops as well. The Falafel is another of the things I wish to try as well. As I wok my way through their menu, I will post some updates. Definitely a place you should try if you like Mediterranean food!

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now after reading the fantastic reviews. This place is kind of like a food truck without the wheels so I would say is closer to a café. There are 2 covered benches available for people to sit down and eat also. Another good thing to know is that you can order and have the order delivered to your house with a minimum order of $ 10.00 The owners are Turkish and you can tell that they take a lot of pride in the way they cook the food. You have a lot of choice when it comes to the menu. You can order pretty much anything from hummus to gyro and salads. The other cool thing that I loved about the menu was the fact if you order any kind of meat, you have the choice of pita, sandwich or bowl which comes with lava bread. I chose the traditional chicken shish kebab pita which came with tzatziki sauce. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I loved the in house hot sauce which was some sort of mildly spicy relish. Like the other reviewers said, the portions are HUGE so you have to come with an appetite. Also, after we were done eating the owner gave us some Turkish cookies which were delicious but a bit too sweet for my taste. The service was excellent, not only did we get our foods quickly but they checked on us more than once to make sure that we were enjoying our dinner. I had an overall great experience and can’t wait to go back.

A friend and I went here for just a bite to eat. It’s located off of 17– 92, next to Lake Lily. The seating is covered outside with picnic tables and you walk up to place your order. This was my first time there. The menu looked delicious and the gentleman that took our order was oh so pleasant and friendly. I got the chicken kebab on pita. They brought our food to where we were seated. The serving size was a really large amount. It was so much that I had to eat it with a knife and fork. Well worth what we paid. It was a little greasy, but after I poured the grease off, it was very tasty and flavourful. We had their homemade hot sauce on the side; which is delicious on the pita. It reminded of a pickle relish but with much more flavor. We also received a little taste of a desert. It was like a cookie and very tasty. The service was great! Everyone was so friendly. I look forward to going back.

Located conveniently near my work, I was excited to see this place pop up. I’m a huge fan of Mediterranean food and always looking to try new places. Located in the shopping plaza on the corner of Kennedy and 17/92, I have seen several other businesses fail in this standalone shop located in the center of the parking lot. Hopefully ShishCo is here to stay! With mostly standard Mediterranean fare to choose from, I went with my personal favorite of a Gyro Bowl with rice. I waited anxiously at the outdoor covered tables for my food. From previous reviews I knew that everything was made fresh, and could take awhile, so I was pleasantly surprised when my food came out reasonably quick. I opened up my box to find all the contents wrapped inside a giant pita. I unfolded the top and there was an amazing platter of meat, tomatoes, onions, and rice(with a couple extra sides of tzatziki). THEREWASSOMUCHFOOD! I decided to rip pieces off of the giant pita(being used as a platter) to make mini Gyro sandwiches. After making about 3 or 4 of these I was too full to eat any more, and still had ½ of my meal left! Everything was top quality and fresh. The service was friendly and quick. The location is ideal for me. The prices were more than fair. What more is there to ask for? I have officially found a new restaurant to add to my lunchtime rotation!
