Maui Spa Retreat

Excellent location with great views. My husband and I received the couples massage this morning and would recommend it to anyone who visits. Off the beaten path slightly up the mountain, just enough to enjoy the cooler breeze

My wife and I love this place! This is what a spa should be. It’s located in a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful setting; the atmosphere is just about perfect. Allison and Chelleigh (I hope I got your names right!) were an absolute pleasure to work with, and the fact that you get a cottage all to yourself for the duration of your stay is awesome.
We did the 110 minute retreat and got lomi lomi massages. The massages were excellent, and we booked a little extra time afterwards to relax, enjoy the views, drink some tea, and ready ourselves for our return to civilization.
Overall, a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend to anyone, and that we will hopefully get to do again soon!

This was the best Massage I have ever received!

This property is so beautiful. Such picturesque views. My husband and I booked a couples massage here and the massages themselves were fantastic. What’s nice is that your time here is very private since they only book one appointment at a time. Instead of doing the sauna portion we opted to use that time afterwards to shower and freshen up in the dual outdoor shower at no additional charge. I’m not sure how they would expect anyone not to shower after a massage, so I really think that if they are going to offer the sauna portion with the massages they should automatically allot time to shower after without any additional charge and without forcing customers to choose one over the other.
Overall it was a pleasant experience and like I said, the grounds were beautiful and massage therapists great. One of the best massages I’ve had, personally. However, the mood and relaxation is slightly spoiled by the fact that you feel so rushed after you get your massage. They tell you how many minutes you have left when you’re freshening up and you just feel like you’re in a time crunch the entire time. After the massage it would have been nice to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view for a bit but again, time crunch. In order not to feel rushed, you have to book (i.e. pay) for extra time.
This is a nice retreat away from the busy resort areas. But if you’re looking for a place with spa facilities you can use and stay all day without paying an arm and a leg, this is not the place for you.

So I dont know how to really rate this place.
The grounds is beautiful, but were weren’t shown around as some other people were. When we got there, we were greeted right away by Jennifer. She took us into the massage room promptly, and we did the aroma bar… which wasnt what we expected. They kinda just waved different scents in front of us, asking to chose what we liked and didnt like. They smelled wonderful, but it was kind of awkward. We selected one and was taken to the dry sauna… which was wonderful. We spent 20 minutes there and then took a refreshing outdoor shower. I loved how private it was, and how we could do it together as a couple.
We got back and we got our couple massages. the massages itself were wonderful. Perfect pressured and really focused. they ended it by placing my hand in the hand of my husbands. We paid for some extra time afterwards to get ready since we were going out to a nice place for dinner. But it wasn;t worth the extra dollars for this.
While we tried to enjoy the view on the patio, the ladies were cleaning up. so that wasn’t very private at all. We got ready in one of the lower bathrooms, which had a collection of different hydromists.
When we got ready to pay, they had some trouble with their machine, and I got like 4 mosquito bites while waiting. Not that it was their fault, but it took away a little of the experience. I ended up getting the massage oil and a hydromist cause i did enjoy them.
I dont know if the price we paid was worth what we got. Yes the massage was good, but had other massages that were equally as good for less of a price. I guess you pay for the privacy, but then again the ladies were there, cleaning up and having their own conversation.
I enjoyed the experience, but I’m not sure if I would dish out that kind of money again for what we received.

After writing this review, I was contacted via email by Maui Spa Retreat, apologizing for our experience and offering to refund some of the money we spent and offered to send us free samples (full sized) at no extra cost. They were sincere in their apology and wanted to make sure we understand how disappointed they were that we did not have the same 5 star experience. What I appreciated the MOST about this, is how they stated «Due to your review, we have made some changes in our policies». That’s great! I love how they took this experience to improve the packages and the experience for their next customers. I think that adds a lot of value to a place. I had given them 3 stars, but changed it to 4 due to their value on customer service and speedy response.
My husband and I hope to visit them again when we go to Maui and see the changes that they have made. Without a doubt it is a beautiful place, and knowing that they care about the experience makes it a must stop.

On our family trip to Maui I planned a solo «Mama’s day out» to actually get some relaxation in during vacation! I was not disappointed :) In the morning I attended an Aromatherapy class at the same location and loved it. I got to see the distillation process from start to finish even picking some of the flowers for the final product, a hydrasol of Lavender, Lemon Verbena, and Rose Geranium, myself. I got to take some home!
Then in the afternoon I received a Lomi-​Lomi Massage and completely relaxed. It was one of the best massages I have ever had. and I’ve had a lot! My therapist was incredibly intuitive, nurturing, and kind. And the space is amazing with probably the best view of any massage room on the planet. I returned to my family refreshed and renewed.
I highly recommend visiting them on your next trip to Maui!

Wonderful people, a beautiful facility and everything you need to totally relax. If I were you I’d make this a priority during your visit to Maui.
