I really wanted to love this place, but it did not impress. For those who know what real French cuisine is, this is not it. The duck confit had two sad mushrooms on the plate, the foie gras was poor and veiny, and the brioche toast in came on was soggy. The pomme frittes were hard and inedible. Service was good, and the wine list was impressive, however the food was a disappointment and I would not return.

I am reviewing this restaurant because we have dined here many, many times and find it great. I also decided to write this review as I saw some negative reviews that can’t be for the same restaurant we have been to so often over the years. My wife and I go to many fine dining restaurants and know our way around. We have eaten at the best New York and the surrounding tri-state area affords. We always like this restaurant as the food is top rate, the service is great, and we can be so much more casual then other places. The mussels are great, foie gras is the best(sorry Le Panitierre!) and the venison is the best I have ever had. Steaks are great and they are always willing to substitute side dishes if you want something else. You must have the pomme allumets– the best French fries ever. The drinks are a little small, but portion control and controlling pours are the only way to survive in the restaurant business. If you want a great French dinner experience without all the fuss, come here!

Dinner here was great. They had a laundry list of special which our waitress impressively rattled of by memory without missing a beat. Emma was great, perfectly attentive without being overbearing. The wine by the glass was good but nothing amazing but the food was delicious. I had the angus steak that was cooked correctly and the peppercorn sauce was good, enough pepper for taste but didn’t drown the steak. We spent almost 3 hours for dinner as it was a business meeting but they didn’t bat an eye. Great experience and would recommend.

I have been here a number of times for lunch and dinner. The food is always top notch and the service is on point. The muscles are great, as is everything else. Enjoy!

Chairs were very uncomfortable. Service was very slow. I actually thought the waitress was rude. Food took a very long time. 30 minutes for appetizers. Appetizers were delicious. Very overpriced but delicious. Entrée — steak — tough meat cut, too much pepper in sauce. Entrée — pasta — very good. Sadly because of the rude waitress I most likely would not dine here again.

Probably the best restaurant in Mamaroneck. Excellently prepared food. Comfortable setting. Typical french bistro dishes with outstanding flavor. Nice wine list with various price points.

Had a fantastic dinner here last evening. Overall, the service was great and the food was truly amazing! Really would give them 4.5 stars. The foie gras appetizer was perfectly cooked and delicious. It was a generous portion and enough to share. Next, we opted to take a chance on their version of Bouillabaisse. They were up against some serious competition having just enjoyed Bouillabaisse in Cassis, France. While it missed the mark on a few specific French ingredients and traditions, it was full of seafood-lobster, shrimp, mussels, fish(all perfectly cooked) and was a wonderful meal. No question, it will bring us back there again for more and to be fair, it was half the price it was in Cassis. It would have been nice just to add a few more croutons like they do in France which helps soak up the delicious seafood broth! To close the evening, we enjoyed some great deserts which again hit the mark on every point. As this was a birthday dinner, they surprised us with a special desert and candles! To sum it up, the evening was full of savory moments and definitely we will return for more.

All the French energy in Mamaroneck! Le Provençal is a funky French Bistro with tons of flair. Interior design at Le Provençal says French from top to bottom: yellow walls, French doors and windows with that extra umph that says French country glow all over. Wow, for a quick second, I felt as though I was in the French countryside. Le Provençal was poppin, absolutely loved the free– flowing energy, not uptight whatsoever. Tom, received us warmly and made sure we had a pleasant dinner. Appetizers and main courses were fabulous and cooked to perfection. For me, dinner has to be great, but what rings my bell is a delectable chocolate dessert. However, I’ve been holding this too long, and gotta b*tch this one out . The table next to ours continuously asked the servers(not once or twice) about whether certain items were«gluten free». Please, call ahead and ask all the 50+ necessary dietary questions– especially since tables are at close proximity of each other.(I thought it was very annoying and disruptive). Please don’t think that I’m insensitive to anyone’s dietary needs, because I’m not, but do call in advance to address your concerns before dinner. Altogether, we will definitely return to Le Provençal.

Le P is one of the rare outliers of lower Westchester fine-ish dining that opts for French over Italian or steak-‘n-seafood. They do it quite well, and mange to be liberal with spices and salt shaker when others will tend to bland. Hard to park on the street many evenings; use the station lot.

Sunday night dinner to celebrate a birthday. We had a very large party of about 15 adults and 7 children,(not an easy accommodation or group to deal with), however, the service was extremely competent and friendly. We were very well taken care of. Food was very good and well served… a bit pricey for what it was and portion size, but then everything in the area is. All in all a good experience; we will be back. Thanks for making the night a success.

Wow! What a find. Was up in Mamaroneck for a weekend class and stopped in on Saturday for the brunch. Service very friendly and efficient. Light airy very French atmosphere. Ordered the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Eggs cooked to perfection, delicious fresh salmon and a wonderful side salad with home made dressing. $ 16. Great varied menu. Worth it and hope someday I can try for dinner.

There are few real bistros left. French provincial cuisine has been swallowed by Millennials’ endless appetite for comfort food and the«green of the year» like kale. Fortunately Le Provençal still respects moules frites… and the like… plus if you desire for comfort food overtakes you… the burger is great. I suggest you try the Crabe Louis starter… and don’t waste your time speaking French… only the lady who owns the place does… Andy M.

I hosted a wedding luncheon/shower for my daughter-in-law-to-be at Le Provencal on Saturday afternoon, and the event was perfect. PERFECT! From my point of view as hostess, every element of the event was superior: ambience, wait staff and, of course, the menu. Derrick(chef/owner) designed a menu to cater to every taste(free range chicken, pasta with fresh basil and tomato, mussels, eggs benedict with salmon), and every single guest raved about their food — which I’ll review in another post. But, as a hostess, suffice it to say that this restaurant has a great vibe from the moment you walk in — The dining room is beautiful and simply appointed, you are welcomed without pretension or snootiness and are served by a friendly and professional wait staff(including Hazel and Ben), and savory dishes are creatively presented. My guests were delighted with the venue, and I plan to book this restaurant for another event in the fall. .

Had a lovely brunch there with friends. Waitstaff is low key to the point of wondering if they know you’re there, but the food is creative and good. Omelets are super yummy; french toast is a bit overly sweet. The cappuccino is about the best I’ve had in Westchester.

We were there on a Thursday night and had a lovely dinner. The service was exceptional. Our waiter was knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was very good. The boullibase was delicious! The hangar steak was well cooked and the frites crispy and yummy with the perfect amount of salt. The pasta was really good. The wine by the glass had great variety and we got more than a full glass, a great value. The ambience was very nice as well. Overall a great experience! I guess the other reviewers that rated this restaurant poorly went on an off day. It is mostly an older crowd, but we didn’t feel uncomfortable with our two young children.

We went here last night for dinner with high hopes. One of our group has been there many times and was eager to bring us. She muttered on the way out, «Won’t go back there again.» Here’s what happened: Nice dining room, good table, great artwork on the walls. There were some bigger tables with groups. A good start. The wine list is puzzling with the glass prices being cheaper than ordering the whole bottle in some cases(@4.5 glasses per bottle). We ordered glasses. There is a corkage fee of $ 30 and a shared plate fee as well. Clearly, they are concerned about some type of crowd there — and squeezing where they can. One serving of bread allowed at a table — which for us meant 4 thin slices of baguette. Two of us ordered the lobster risotto, one beef bourgioine, and one duck breast. The risotto was served in a gigantic plate with a mini ramekin sized portion in the center. Two small pieces of lobster. $ 34. Ouch. We asked if they had accidentally split the portion. «No that’s the way it has always been here.» They offered some mash potatoes. Seriously? Wow — insult on injury. I had the beef. It tasted as if the meat had been cooked separately and frozen — then added to a mixture. This was not BB, but some presto cooking method of petrifying beef. Ironically, the potatoes were good. The beans(and the side of spinach we ordered) were over– garliced to the point of painful. I can’t speak to the duck as the person who ordered it was so horrified by the lobster — she wouldn’t speak. Italian profiteroles for dessert were full sized. Still not sure how the most expensive entrée was so pathetic. If you go here… enjoy the artwork and the glass of wine. For the rest… I can’t recommend it.

This place was excellent for a family brunch. The décor is quaint and classy and the waitstaff is pretty decent. At our table we had Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros and we enjoyed everything. The Profiteroles we split for dessert were fresh and delicious too. It can get a bit pricey paying per Mimosa but we thought overall it was worth it.

I am not a connoisseur of French food, and I have not eaten at many French restaurants. However, I dined here tonight and found the entire experience to be very pleasant. The atmosphere is very fresh, with bright colors and clean lines throughout. I started with a mesclun salad with dried cranberries and walnuts. They were not generous with the walnuts or dried cranberries and I found the salad to be too simple and not restaurant quality. My main dish however made up for it, and my dessert was delicious as well. Overall a pleasant experience; I would definitely come back again.

Delicious escargot! Also one of the best Bouillabaisse I’ve ever tasted outside of France. Sit in the sunroom area — it feels like you are in Provence. My preferred dishes: Bouillabaisse, Escargot, lobster salad. The soup du jour is always a good choice. Perfect for date night and lunch with the girls.
