Captain D’s is one of the best fast food type seafood restaurants. Their service is always great and their sweat tea is always delicious. You can’t go wrong eating here for lunch or dinner.

This is my guilty pleasure! I love fish and chips so when I have a craving for some fried fish this is where I come! The girl that works the front is super friendly and nice. I really do adore Capt D’s!!!

I don’t know why I stopped here. Every time I do, I am disappointed. The idea of Captain D’s makes me drool. The greasy, bland food and the hideously long drive through wait times should permanently reside in the back of my mind so I don’t stop there again. I use to frequent the C-D’s in Fairfax circle quite often when I worked in the towers across the road.(It’s since been torn down.) I remember enjoying my food there, so I am not sure if it’s THIS location — or if my food expectations and standards have elevated with my age.(and Unilocal-iness) I ordered the clam strips and two piece fish special with green beans and a side salad. The salad — brown lettuce with quite a bit of water in the container. The green beans — really tasty but a bit over salted. None the less, they were my favorite part of the plate. The clams, soggy, rubbery and basically tasteless. The only saving grace here was the tartar sauce, even though it was warm. The fish was the same, overly greasy and tasteless. The only real taste I got was that of saltwater. The hushpuppies that came with the meal were pretty delicious — so at least I had that going for me. The window staff wasn’t very pleasant. It was a straight transaction of «What would you like to order?», «Is that all?», «Please drive up». The speaker system was ungodly loud. I heard everything that was said to the cars in front of me as well as behind me, they might want to think about turning that down a notch or two. I get this craving for fish and chips(well, really just the fish) every once in a while, but I don’t think I’ll be back to get it from Captain D’s.

I remember eating at a Captain D’s when I was younger, and I remember it being really good. So I swung by this Captain D’s drive thru for lunch. There was one car ahead of me, but they were at the window. I pulled up to the speaker and was asked to hold for a minute. I spent a solid 5 minutes at the speaker. I looked at the menu though in that time since I hadn’t been There in a long time. Decided on the 3 piece battered fish fry. I got a side of cole slaw and fries. Total was $ 7.29. That’s a pretty decent price. I pulled up to the window and spent another five minutes there. The woman at the window was really nice, and polite. And I saw she was the only one there working both the counter inside, and the window. That explains why it was taking ten minutes at a drive thru when I was the only one in line. The food was GOOD. it was a pretty big amount of food for that price. I’m sure it isn’t all that healthy for you, but it was delicious. They should hire more workers.

One of the worst fast food I’ve ever had, the batter is very thick and I mean really really thick, the food is oily and disgusting.

I use to go all the time before they changed their menu. Back when they had the fish and shrimp scampi. Then the menu changed for the worst and the selection is now limited and horrible. Now I understand changing the menu is a corporate thing I get that, but food quality is not. I got the whitefish and shrimp, and the fish was absolutely disgusting. I couldn’t take more than 1 bite of it. It tasted oldand expired, like it had been frozen for 100 yeasts and they decided to defrost it for my meal last night. The green beans that used to be so good and flavorful were now bland and tasted like it just came out of a can and put immediately on my plate. The whole dinner was absolutely gross. The food was so inedible I had to make me something else for dinner.

1st time there, but For a fast food sea food place it did pretty good, I am surprised. Cuz it’s fast food and the quality was actually ok/good. But I was not a huge fan so I won’t be going back there. But again. It did better than I expected. I believe I ordered the supreme meal.

Better than I was expecting for cheap fast food seafood. I give it 4 stars based on a fast food scale. value, price, and friendliness were all in attendance. would i give it 4 stars as a sit down restaurant? No. but for fast food, what the heck… The lady working the register was nice. The meal was 5 bucks for fish and 8 shrimp and fries and coleslaw and 2 hush puppies. That’s a lot of food for 5 bucks. And for it to be seafood, that’s a pretty dang good deal. The shrimp were my favorite part. They were decent sized butterfly shrimp. Malt vinegar for the fries makes me smile. I won’t go into great detail beyond that… don’t expect to get your socks blown off or nothing… but in a pinch, it will work for a cheap seafood fix if you happen to be in the area looking at used cars… or whatever else you do in that area. Probably looking at used cars.

I enjoy their food, especially the hushpuppies because they are amazing. Unfortunately the last few times I’ve been there the customer service has been disappointing and could certainly use work.

Oh my gosh, where do I begin? After living in Albuquerque with a Captain D’s that was neglected, had poor service and terrible food,(eventually got shut down), this one is a breath of fresh air. The staff is polite from the couple of times I’ve been here the food has been great. Love the fried okra for a side… Don’t come here if you hate fried food though. I got a special that had three types of seafood along with the breaded okra and oh my, it was all so tasty… I need to run a few miles on the treadmill now…

My wife and I had dinner here on Friday night. It is a fried food restaurant so do not look for anything healthy. I had a 2 pc fried fish and 6 pc fried shrimp dinner. It includes 2 sides and hush puppies. I had fried okra and macaroni and cheese as my sides. The fried fish was flaky and moist with a very good flavor and the shrimp were small but butterflied and fried nicely. The okra was seasoned and battered well but was a bit slimy inside. The macaroni and cheese was very good, very similar to Stouffer’s. My wife had the surf and turf. It was shrimp with pieces of steak. I was surprised at how good the steak was. It is not Morton’s quality but it is surprisingly flavorful and tender. She had a loaded baked potato that came with cheese, bacon, chives, and sour cream. She also had green beans that she said were good. Overall we really enjoyed our meal for what it was. The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is typical fast food. We will definitely be back for a fried food meal in the near future.

Captain D’s is a guilty pleasure for me. And it’s a bit of a polarizing place. Some people love it, some won’t even think of coming here. I grew up in a family that was, and still is, in various aspects of the seafood business. I know what great seafood is. My brother grows some of the best damn oysters in Virginia. And I know that Captain D’s is not great seafood. However, Captain D’s does provide a really good value for the dollar. When you are frying seafood, frozen product is just as good as fresh as long as the product is good. And when you are frying seafood, the quality of the product takes a backseat to how well you time the service of the food. Captain D’s fries their food to order, so their meals come out piping yummy hot. Their catfish feast is tasty, and I love their clam strips. However, keep in mind that frying to order means that — despite their appearance — this isn’t necessarily fast food. I’m typically expecting a 20 minute turn around time going through the drive through there. Fried seafood not your thing? They do offer grilled options as well. My wife really likes their grilled shrimp skewers. I’ve had the steak skewers and they’re not bad. And Captain D’s has great sides — the mac and cheese is better than KFC, and the fries are tasty. Plus, where else can you get fried okra on a whim? But wait, there’s more. Let’s say that you’re driving through M-towm and have a hankerin’ for some mozzarella cheese sticks or fried pickles, but don’t want to sit down at the local sports bar and wait for them. Captain D’s has you covered there too. Their mozzarella sticks are pretty good, and WAY cheaper than you’d get at a traditional restaurant. Captain D’s ain’t really healthy eating — even the grilled shrimp skewer seems to be loaded with butter. But it sure is tasty, and cheap. And the last time I checked, cheap and tasty is pretty darn good.

I’m in a be honest here — the food here may taste good, and the portions are pretty substantial. However, I can’t say much about the cleanliness of the place. And that makes me on appetizer towards the food. It’s a fast food restaurant though, so what do you expect? This isn’t a high scale establishment or anything. You get what you pay for.

My honey has RAVED about Captain D’s for YEARS, so when we finally found ourselves in Manassas, we had to make a stop. Captain D’s offers FRIED seafood galore for a ridiculously low price. Is it the next Coastal Flats, absolutely not… but for a $ 4.00 meal of seafood, it’s worth the visit. They offer large quantities of food to engorge yourself with, and you can leave with a bit of heartburn… but that’s why anyone would go to a fast food join in the first place ;)

Stars are based on value, not pure quality. It’s a fried fish fast-food joint. Given that, there’s nothing outstanding and nothing awful about it – it’s pretty good for the money and gets 3 stars. What’s there to say about a place like this? I don’t go often but find the food tasty for the money and a nice alternative when I’m trying to eat relatively cheaply and not impressing anyone. I like the fillets and the friend shrimp. The fries are OK. I don’t like hush puppies anyway, so I just don’t eat them. The tarter sauce is OK. I mean, what do you want? It’s fine, no problem.

First of all, don’t complain about fried food as one other reviewer mentioned. That reviewer shouldn’t be eating fast food first of all if you get my hint. This is fast food and I don’t do that often. They do have a grilled menu selection. However, I have my breaks from my exercise and healthy eating once a while. I’ve driven here the past 2 years and finally tried it one day. It looks a bit run down but the food is fried well. If you know anything about deep fry, it has to been done with good timing and perfect temperature. My plate came out without a drip of oil. That impressed me as I know my cooking but not a pro. It is a next step up from long john silver and under red lobster. Cole slaw was good and fresh tasting. Fast food is not good for you but just gotta do it once in a while. Customer service is good. Very nice ladies who work the front compared to other fast food joints. The place seems old but it is clean(even the restroom).

Very Popular American Seafood Restaurant I went there one time. This is the type of seafood restaurant where almost everything is deep fried. Deep fried fish, deep fried shrimp, deep fried french fries. Deep fry it, have some dipping sauce made from horseradish and sour cream, cover it with butter and salt and wash it down with a sugary soft drink. All you need is chocolate sauce. Eat there once a week to guarantee a heart attack by age 30. In fairness they do have some grilled fish, but I didn’t try it. My friend’s wife works at this place, and he says that she comes home smelling of grease. He says the first thing she does is take a shower when she gets off work. I mean, the place is greasy. I’m American so every now and then I like to eat something that is deep fried in grease. But Precious got very sick from all this grease so we don’t be going back. Restaurants in this area have come and gone. Right next door a place went belly-up. It’s a tough business in this economy, but this place is very popular with the locals.

The food here is delicious! Some of it may be a little greasy but not everything is drenched in grease. You can order the fish«country style» which is not as heavily battered/greasy as the classic style. They have other types of fish such as salmon which I’ve never tried because I love their classic style fried fish. My favorite is the 3 piece classic style fish dinner with fried okra and green beans. The service is always friendly/respectful. If you join the Captain D’s club or look through coupons in the mail you can usually shave a few dollars off your bill which is already fairly priced.

After the unsatisfying experience at Las Brujas De Cachiche Restaurant — I walked next door to Captain D’s — still hungry. I’ve never been to a Captain D’s — but I reasoned anything had to be better than what I just experienced. Captain D’s is all about fried everything: fried fish, catfish, shrimp, crabcakes, chicken, oysters, hush puppies, fries — you name it. The place was pretty busy — so I thought that was a good sign. I ordered the Crabcake and Fish combo platter, and a side of fried oysters, and a Diet Coke. After paying, they hand you one of those coasters that light up when your order is ready. Only a few minutes passed and my order was ready. I sat down, grabbed sides of Catsup, Tartar sauce, and Cocktail sauce, and proceeded to dig in. Fries were crispy and decent — with a light coating of some sort of batter. Everything was piping hot. And greasy. Did I mention greasy? The oysters were small and greasy. The two pieces of fish were greasy. The crab cake was greasy — although not as greasy as the fish and oysters. The Diet Coke had this strange unpleasant, almost metallic flavor to it. I ate about half the food, threw the rest out, and left. I noticed the strange taste to the Diet Coke as I pulled out. I pulled over and dumped the soda out the window. I won’t be back.
