This explination is long but I felt you needed to know the full compass of the issue and all the players involved BEFORELIVINGIN A TAFTPROPERTY or COVERSTONEPHASE1 in MANASSAS We are now having an issue and it should be covered under our insurance!!! I reported it in Sept. After fighting with BOA, TAFT, OCC, QBE, CAU it came full circle back to Taft. I sent a long letter this time so they sent someone to look at the damage where we sawed into the drywall on the ceiling of the lower bath he noticed right away that this was from the previous owners having jerry rigged the plumbing and conecting a brass and plastic pipe together. He informed us this would have been a sudden loss due to the packing coming lose and all the water having no where to go but through the drywall. My husband and I were also informed that this would have happened inevitably and was no fault of our own. He also stated the water pooling was due to the deterioration of the foundation which was why it was pooling in the house and in the closet but not the entryway. Since this visit w/the matinence personnel, I have called the office every other day between 10 – 3 and no one has answered ANYOFMYCALLS!!! If I am suppost to direct messages and calls to Taft but can never get a live person on the phone, or leave messages in which no one responds I am at a loss of what to do now. At this point I sent an email 3÷5÷13 since everyone refused to answer my calls. I requested that the only option would be I need direct contact information for the Board that watches over our HOA or a point of contact on the board. This is honestly ridiculous if the offices and those employeed by Taft are the sole point of contact I have been given and never seem to be available during your posted hours of operation. I also expressed they could feel free to have a member of the board contact me directly if that would be more simple, according to our by-laws we are allowed to submit requests directly to the board or through Taft. I explained I would like to know how to do this through the board at this point. We have since hooked up a commercial grade humidifier and need to get this resolved. On Monday or Tuesday I tracked down a number of a member Council of Co-Owners for Coverstone Phase 1 and spoke with her pleading the sitauation. She got very loud and aggressive on the phone started making excuses as I was reading off the exerpts from the insurance policy and the by laws that show this is a viable claim. She continued to yell, scream and use very profane language with me over the phone. She is the pillar of the community being she acts like the police in the neighborhood forever telling residence what they can and can not do. I also began explaining how the remodel by the previous owners would have needed the boards approval being it would have been over 1000 and that was needed for any interior changes over that value. So that means the previous owners violated the HOA and bylaws set forth and when the HOA and Taft did the walk through at closing should have noticed such a dramatic alteration which was not noted, or that the owners did get an approval and the permits were not cheked correctly being this plumbing was makeshift at best. So either way this was something they knew about and never made know or followed through with. She them continued screamin at full volume at me about how we were responsible. It was ungodly unprofessional. She then abrubtly stated, :I have to go the baby’s dad just got here you can call me later. CLICK” I was beyond flabber gasted this is the conduct of a prestigious member of the community and the way«A BOARDMEMBERISALLOWEDTOCONDUCTTHEMSELVES.» I was APPALLED!!! She proceeded to call me back a few minutes later at 3:15 on 3÷5÷13 according to my caller id. She continued to scream at me how I was wrong, she was very agressive, defensive and accusitory. I then explained the coverage of walls, floors, plumbing, removal of mold and how this is cover for certain types of loses from water and how wouldnt they at least want an adjuster to comelook and decided if it would or would not be covered. She explained she was not aware of interior coverage I then asked her if she’d like me to email a copy of the master policy with the two other pages explaining the types and items covered and types of losses and reasons a deductible could be applied. She yelled«I am not giving you my email address.» I said I could bring a copy to her house, which she said«I am not getting involved.» She then said that the board would meet they would not approve this and it would probably go to their lawyer. I them said if we are throwing lawyers around I will skip the middle man retain one of my own and we could go from there. She yelled recanted saying«I am not saying that it wont be approved I am saying I am not sure.» I have retained a lawyer, Beware of all things TAF
