There is a sign outside of the Mobil gas station located on the corner of broad street and west middle turnpike, that says they are selling SUGARSHACK donuts. I’m sure they are more expensive but if you need a fix, that’s where you can get it.

donut man wherefore art thou? these are bad times… donut man is gone from the italian joint on broad. that’s a fact. I’ve gotten from good authority he’s gone stone cold rogue and he’s underground. then I heard he opened a shop in another town and closed it. I don’t know how true this is but it seems to me he had to go somewhere — the artist must create! SHANE…COMEBACK!

Closed. You can find their donuts down the street on Broad St in an italian bakery now. Same price but not the same selection

Total dive, friendly service. I came at 3:00 in the afternoon which may have affected my visit. There was no such thing as a banana donut, or cherry cake donut, or oreo donut. But there was an amazingly delicious maple donut and toasted coconut donut. Then there was the so-so powdered sugar donut. And then the terrible raspberry jelly filled donut that could have easily been from CT’s favorite chain donut shop. The maple donut and toasted coconut were so good, that i’ll go back, but it seems I’d better get there earlier.

I confess. I’ve never met a donut that I didn’t like. Glazed, cruller, chocolate, jelly, cream– I’d happily eat anything served my way, but since this is Dunkin’ Country, the bulk of my experiences have been in unremarkable chain shops with donuts that deflate upon first bite. So I want to take a moment to rave about The Sugar Shack in Manchester. Initially, I really just went there for the name alone. What I found was indeed a shack, your quintessential hole in the wall on the corner of Center Street. Inside, there were rows of the usual suspects– glazed, cinnamon, powdered sugar donuts– as well as some less common fried dough delicacies, like the banana frosted donut and sour cream donut. I selected a glazed cherry cake donut while my roommate chose a plain donut covered in cinnamon sugar. Both were wonderful. These homemade old-fashioned donuts are dense & flavorful, almost like mini coffee cakes. I guess it depends on your preference– whether you’re more inclined to opt for the old fashioned cakelike texture or the light & spongy consistency more typical of a Dunkin Donuts creation. What else? Friendly & welcoming employees, drive thru, $ 1 per donut. A great place to pick up a few donuts if you’re in the area but it’s not terribly conducive to lingering all morning if you’re looking for a café atmostphere.

You can not beat their ‘on location freshness’ on bagels & doughnuts. I try to buy their bagel combo with coffee for only $ 3.23!!! This includes a melted cheese & sausage & egg on a toasted fresh bagel. There coffee is very good as well!!! You can’t go wrong folks!!!

Im surprised the building is still there! Its been pumping out sugary confections as long as i can remember. Now that its the home of the Sugar Shack, i have found myself wandering in a little more often. Im not sure if its because of the Bag of donuts for $ 2.50 or the cute little blonde that serves them. Its a bit cluttered with a couple booths but thats it. The seating outside isnt the best but its more than whats inside. The parking is tight and awkward. But you will not find a better donut anywhere else, hands down!.The coffee could be better and it seems its never hot enough too.“Do you want it in the microvave hun?” I can never pass up a cup of Snickerdoole though. lol

If you’re going to die from heart disease or diabetes, shouldn’t it be worth it? As everything fades to black, your fat ass sprawled out on the floor, the life choked out of it by years of inactivity and overeating, wouldn’t you like to die with the peace of mind afforded by knowing that for every pained dying gasp you’d been adequately rewarded with the BESTGODDAMNDONUTSEVER? The Sugar Shack has those donuts. Dunkin’ Donuts does not. (Fair warning: The coffee is pretty crappy)

After a long night of being the designated driver and driving my drunk friends back home… i stopped at Mobil in Cromwell for gas, when i went inside they had just stocked the donut case, and they looked amazing. Asked the clerk where they were from and he said Sugar Shack in Manchester… These were some of the most incredible donuts ever… beats anything else in the state hands down.

Come early in the morning when the donuts are fresh. You’ll never go to Dunkin Donuts again.

It’s the dive bar of coffee joints in Manchester, which I love. Service is always friendly, they use fresh eggs to make breakfast sandwiches, and the coffee they serve is from a delicious local roaster. If you’re looking for a super casual local business from which to get your caffiene fix, this could be a good place for you!
