This place is located in a building. Definitely had walls and the beers were served in glasses. Yum! I can’t not forget to not mention that I was not left not satisfied. Perfect food for people who like beer that tastes like food. The bartender was present when I ordered. The food and beer were delicious, but it was humid outside so I’m hesitant to leave a 5 star review. Definitely dont come by if you don’t not like not liking your food. 10⁄10 would bang again get some

Top notch food. The pulled pork sandwich I had was on point. My girlfriend had the honey mustard chicken salad and the honey mustard must be made in house because it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. But the dessert was the best part. I had the caramel macchiato crème brûlée and it blew my mind! I’ll be back here this summer, while either biking on the trace, or hitting up the beach at Fontainebleau

Fantastic! Everything was great across the board. We tried all their beers, got a couple of delicious sandwiches, chatted with the waitress – everything was top notch and awesome! They even had the bread sandwich bread I’ve had in quite a few years(and I used to run a bakery!) I highly recommend this place to anyone even remotely in the area. It’s worth the trip!

Reasonably priced and delicious food. I ordered the chocolate stout beer from their in house microbrewery and I was pleasantly surprised. Their beer is worth trying even if you aren’t an avid beer drinker. You can get a 5 oz serving for cheaper than a soft drink– an absolute bargain.

Draft beer was $ 5.25 plus tax. We tried two of the house brews. They were ok. This review is only in reference to the beer prices and flavor. We did not try the food.

During a recent jaunt to the Northshore, I had a hankering for good food and good beer. Where else but Old Rail Brewing? We stopped in during a big LSU game, and we were pleased to discover that no one here cared about the game. The place wasn’t overly packed and we were seated quickly. As I looked over the menu, I decided to start with a Seven Sisters IPA. It was quite tasty and not heavy at all and made for a perfect start to the experience. For an appetizer we decided to start with the Bleu Chips, which are chips topped with melted blue cheese. They weren’t anything super special, but they really hit the spot because we were starving. For my entrée I got the shrimp and grits. Now, if you follow my reviews, you know that shrimp and grits is one of my all time favorite dishes. This particular dish came with heads off shrimp with grits, okra and cauliflower. The shrimp were delicious and the sauce they were in was amazing. I would have liked it if there were more grits and if they were a bit creamier. I had to mix the sauce into the grits in order to have them not be as stiff as they were. I personally like my grits really creamy, but you might not. While not the best shrimp and grits I have ever had, this was definitely a solid dish. After dinner we decided to stick around for a while and try some more beer. I got the Pumpkin Express and, on a friend’s recommendation, their Cow Catcher Chocolate Milk Stout. The pumpkin beer was perfect– not too much pumpkin taste and just enough spice to not be overwhelming. The chocolate beer was out of this world! I am a huge fan of chocolate beers and I love stouts. This beer delivered on both levels and managed to be smooth and flavorful without being too heavy. All of the beers I tried here were definitely«wins». Don’t judge me, but we did so much chit chatting after dinner that we ended up with a bit of an appetite again. We ordered a small side of mac and cheese to munch on. The carb/cheese combo definitely hit the spot and I loved that they were generous with the cheese. All in all I loved it here and I would definitely return if I found myself in the area. Solid beer and solid food makes me wish that they had a Southshore location.

Worst service ever! Never have I ever had such horrible customer service. You should never be in a hurry or be rude with your customers… Or say«Well, I can’t do everything?!» when we are the only table your waiting on… It was dinner time on a Thursday and no one was there!(Except the bar!) It’s sad because this location and building is perfect. It’s disappointing that employees like her can ruin a business. I came here once before and it was great. Kitchen needs help though. Food is cold or soggy when delivered and they need to be quieter in the kitchen. When you start talking behind the customers back, make sure they can’t hear you! Also, it’s not professional to play«grab-ass» in the kitchen! Disgusting and just plain unprofessional. Hope the right people see this to make a change. Would love to see this place flourish with the right staff!

My last stop in my New Orleans trip was one of the best. Recommended by a local brewer, this spot has a small but delicious menu along with interesting beers on tap. Small crowd for a Sunday afternoon and easily got a booth for three. Ordered the French Dip sandwich with bleu chips($ 12ish) and the seven sisters IPA($ 5ish). Sandwich was large and the bread soaked up the au jus really well — making a very flavorful combination. Bleu cheese chips were incredibly potent, so wasn’t able to finish. With the server recommendation, finished the great meal with a creamy pumpkin ale. Service here is fast and friendly. Easily the best place you can go after crossing the causeway.

Perfectly placed along the Tammany Trace, Old Rail Brewing is a perfect rest stop while riding up to Covington. A huge selection of beers and food but the star here is the burger. It is excellent with flavor and cooked to perfection. They have house made fries or chips I recommend the chips if your a chip person they are great. They also have big salads and some local items. I ordered the house special burger which was stuffed with pimento cheese and jalapeño topped with bacon and hot sauce on a Hawaiian roll. When riding the Trace this is a must stop.

Nice atmosphere. The food was good. The service started off decent then fizzled out halfway into our meal. I am a beer guy. When I go to a restaurant that brews their own beer, I usually like to try two or three different beers during the meal. I didn’t get a chance because our waiter, Peyton, disappeared halfway through the meal. I finished my IPA, which was pretty good, then proceeded to nurse my water because my waiter was no where to be found.

I actually came here twice before posting my review. I wanted to try some things and see if this place would be consistent. It was. The place looks great and the wait staff is always on top of things and pleasant. But both times we did come for lunch, so that is what I am basing my review on. We’ve had an Irish sounding guy as our waiter and also a very pleasant motherly hostess that made sure all was good with us. Five stars there. The appetizers… We actually got the same one twice and are blown away. The Blue Chips. It is so flavorful and feeds two very well. We saw the Alligator Bites going by for another table and that also looks super yummy. But it is hard to order anything other than those chips! Five stars. For entrees, we have ordered 4 different things by now, between beef/alligator&pork burgers, a French Dip and a shrimp po boy. All of them have the exact same problem: no flavor. It’s pretty incredible that a place that serves an appetizer as flavorful as the Blue Chips can mess up their entrees. The side fries are good, though. 3 stars. We did not try beers as we had our son with us. But we definitely want to come here on a date and try a few, they look awesome and very promising! Bottom line, this place got a solid 4 stars out of 5, and I would recommend this place for beers and a few appetizers instead of entrees.

I went with a group and we got a little of everything. And I must say. That EVERYTHING was amazing. And I don’t say that often. The fish spread. On point, the pimento spread. Fresh and perfect, the blue chips. Homemade and scrumptious, the mac n cheese. Unctuous with a homemade hot sauce. Soups and gumbo. Among the better I’ve had in awhile. The ambiance has is casual, open, clean, and has character(with its railroad tracks as foot hold). Oh. And don’t forget the beer! The IPAs are oh so good(didn’t try others). Beautiful and fragrant nose with a smooth(not bitter) finish, wonderfully balanced IPA. This brewery is a treat for the beer snob, foodie, football fan. Really, just anyone. This place has it all.

Great spot for a brew and/or dinner. Old Rail brews their own beer on site. Ask for the sampler. Absolutely the best shrimp and Grits I have ever had. Reasonable prices, friendly staff.

NOMNOMNOM — Old Rail Brewing Co where have you been hiding? You are absolutely delicious! All three of us ordered lunch at this place and kinda shared our meals, we ordered: Corned Beef on Rye with cole slaw Overstuffed Poboys — Shrimp with fries Portobello sandwich with mac and cheese Everything was delicious and the Portobello sandwich was so juicy I was imagining it was meat, the macaroni paired well with the sandwich. We also ordered a flight of beers and ended up enjoying the cow catcher chocolate stout the best — and we do not like dark beers– I am a Blue Moon Girl!

Waited until this restaurant could get settled in until I tried it out and finally got the opportunity! The 4 stars are for an overall decent experience with a couple of misses. Got the 4 beer sampler and split it with my boyfriend. Left the choosing of the beers to the waitress and she came back with some pretty good ones to sample. Good amount of beer tasting for $ 7. Next, we ordered the Blue Chips for an appetizer, which was the best choice we made all night. They were fan-freaking-tactic! Great flavors with the home cooked chips, topped with yummy blue cheese, PICKLED red onions(yum!) and some kind of aioli. For an entrée, we were both feeling sandwiches for some reason. I got the French Dip and he got the Reuben. This is where the misses continued to occur(service was a little slow) The french dip was underwhelming, as I expected it to be as incredible as it was described on the menu. I saw that there was mustard on it, but must have just thought they knew what they were doing. No! Mustard does not belong on a French Dip! Ok? Just no! At least not in this case. The roast beef was a little bland and the au jus needed way more salt. The Reuben had mustard on it too, which I tried but didn’t mind it much. Overall a nice experience, but I was expecting way more from the pictures and reviews. Next time I’m going to try the Shrimp and Grits or the Alligator sausage entrée. When and if I return to try these other entrees, I will update. Until then 4 stars for a great try!

Cool atmosphere. We only stopped by to try the beer and we also got the bread pudding. The bread pudding was incredible. It was just the right texture and it was topped with strawberries, chocolate and rum sauce. I don’t know about the other food options but the bread pudding was great!

I will always give 5 star rating on a Brewery when the Brew Master will come out and describe his brewing procedures. The one beer I questioned did not have any written notes on it. He came out and described in detail the brewing process for this beer. The restaurant had a great feel and the food was above average. All employees were courteous and helpful. Our bartender even described the old train tracks that were behind the brewery. The taps are all rail nails and the foot rest at the bar is a railroad rail. Good selection of craft beers and great environment

There’s a reason locals give Old Rail a perfect rating. It just so happens to be pretty much… perfect. I’ll start with the superb service. I came in as soon as they opened. My waiter(wish I could remember his name, but he was a dark eyed blond haired cutie) was great. He brought out samples of the beers on the menu so I could decide what to have. He was such a sweetie it was hard not to slip him my number. Just kidding! But really, he was such a nice guy. The space is just absolutely gorgeous. The patio has seating that is to die for overlooking the lake and that is awesome in and of itself but… if a restaurant is even more beautiful inside… well, you know. Perfection. The Brisket Sloppy Joe sandwich. *sigh* no words, y’all. No words. Their fries are so great too. Hello Old Rail. So pleased to meet your acquaintance.
