Closed! Again this spot stays vacant quite often. Not sure why but I feel bad for the owners who come in and give it their heart and soul for it not to turn out the way they want it to be. I love eating local and we have the best food around, especially in this whole state.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 New Orleans, LA
I am on a quest to find the best roast beef poor boy in the metropolitan area. Since I was off the day after an elite event, I decided to try a place that I not only hadn’t been, but didn’t have a presence on Unilocal. The only way I knew about Pop’s was from passing it on my way to and from the Abita Brew Pub. Now that I have added it, maybe others can find, and try this restaurant. My standard by which poor boy shops are judged is their roast beef poor boy and gravy fries. Pop’s version is called a «big beef boy». While I hate the name, the sandwich was very good with one exception. The roast beef was of the shredded variety with a very good gravy to meat ration. The gravy had a very good flavor and both the gravy and beef appeared to be homemade. The one issue I had was that the bread did not seem to be traditional New Orleans style. It was soft instead of the slight crisp I am used to. That is normally a huge dealbreaker for me, but the beef was so good, I can overlook that. Because of the very good gravy, the fries were also very good. Besides being very good, the food was cheap. It was only around $ 10 for the poorboy and fries. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant has a very down home feel. Due to the distance from my house I don’t think Pop’s will become my regular poor boy joint, but you can bet I will be back. Note: There is no website, and the only menu pictures are on Facebook. I do wish their menu was available online because the Facebook photos just don’t cut it in this day and age.
