So sad they are closing this week for good because they can’t afford to upgrade kitchen! Was a great coffee shop but it is now going to be nothing! Was great while it lasted!

The baristas always prepare my(often particular) orders perfectly, and when I have the opportunity to stop in for dinner I’m pleasantly surprised by the specials they have on offer. Any time I’m on the North shore I make sure to stop in for a quick pick me up. If you find yourself in Old Mandeville, The Scott’s is a must.

Love the coffee, love the food, love the staff, love the owners! If u loved Java grotto, growing up as a Mandeville kid of the 90’s, The Scott’s is the perfect modern version. Wine and tapas on the weekends r amazing! Support local business! This place is a true gem!

I go to the Scott’s often. Great place. Fun foods. Ambience is great. The owners and staff make you feel welcome. The tapas menu changes every so often so there is always something new to try. They do fun specials that you can’t get anywhere else locally. Fun drink menu. Try the dirty martini with your choice of stuffed olives. One of my most favorite local places.

Had a great breakfast and coffee at Scotts. Cute, quirky place. Strong local community vibe. Excellent internet. I’ll definitely be back.

Over-priced for small portions. Food and service are both BELOW average. Unfriendly, disorganized wait staff. SMALL menu and the food quality is just unacceptable. The owners should stick with coffee and pastries and not try to be more than they are capable of delivering. Will never go back and will tell my friends to avoid this place.

Great location and really nice ambiance. I love to get an iced vanilla latte and always get the coffee ice cubes. I usually sit on the patio and sip, while I people watch and ponder. This is to the extent that I have experienced The Scotts’, although I have ordered a quiche a couple times to compliment my liquid breakfast. The staff is a little strange, yet I have had a couple nice encounters with particular people. I would be very hesitant to go for tapas and wine because of the vibe I get during the daytime.

INCREDIBLYDISAPPOINTING 1) the order taker(lady) at the counter was not particularly welcoming. It took a LONG time for us to be able to place our order. While we were waiting, another couple came in to complain that their order was incorrect(she wasn’t rude, but wasn’t apologetic or amending, either). The menu is incredibly limited, but offers a daily lunch special and a soup du jour. When I inquired about the daily special, she replied that it was tomato basil soup. When I clarified that I was interested in the lunch special, I was told that they didn’t have one today(Saturday) and were only offering the soup. 2) We ordered a chicken salad on croissant and a grilled chicken with avocado on wheat. 3) We sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and waited. Service is incredibly slow. 4) My companion ordered hot chocolate and said it was the worst he’s ever had. Tasted more like warm milk without any chocolate added. 5) No one came to check on our status, if we needed anything else, etc.(Owners are losing money by not asking if customers would like additional drinks or dessert). 6) MOSTIMPORTANT: The food was really terrible — lackluster. i have never seen such a small croissant and the chicken salad did not cover the entire area of the bread. It was almost tasteless. I could detect a faint hint of tarragon. «Salad» is a misnomer. It was more like chopped chicken w/mayo(no celery, no parsley, no pecans, no cranberries or apples) — just chicken and mayo. Again, LACKLUSTER. My companion’s sandwich was so bad that he took 2 bites and refused to eat anymore. The grilled chicken breast(thin) was dry, tough, hard to chew and, again, didn’t have any flavor. The bread was the best part of the sandwich !! POOR service and POOR food. We won’t be back !

A while back I gave them a try for coffee with friends one evening. The girl working told me she wasn’t allowed to make cappuccinos for us because it was too late. We could only get food and wine. Every other coffee shop sells coffee in the evening.

Will not be back. Very cute little shop. The food was just ok, but it took over 30 minutes to get 3 sandwiches. With no one else there this should have been alot faster. Not to mention we had two young kids with us. They brought out my husband’s shrimp and grits in 10 minutes so he got to sit and watch us eat 20 minutes later. To top it off my 4 year old found a whole plastic bread bag clip in the middle of her grilled cheese. Very disappointing.

Coffee was cold. Didn’t offer to make fresh just ran it in microwave. Was sure to tell me refills were $ 1. Won’t be back.

This is a review of the coffee shop only. I have not tried the food. The Scott’s is a cool and funky little coffee shop in Old Mandeville. I happened upon it by accident when driving around one day, but I am glad that I did. When I first pulled into the parking lot next to the shop, I was a little worried. The clientele sitting out front seemed a bit bohemian and hippy like. Knowing that I am neither bohemian nor a hippy, I worried that I may not fit in. Luckily for me, I ignored those thoughts and headed in. The inside of this shop appeared to be very small with no room to sit. I quickly realized that the ordering area is just a small part of the shop and that there were several adjacent rooms. The rooms ranged from dining room style to a very cool room with a couch and art on the walls. When I come back, that will be the room I sit in. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. My iced coffee was good enough to drink without sweetener, but it may be slightly too bitter for most. They had the gamut of fancy drinks as well, but those aren’t for me. The Scott’s is more than just a coffee shop. Apparently they offer small plates for lunch and dinner, but I have yet to try them. If you are in the mood for a cool, much better than chain experience, head on over to The Scott’s.

I have been to The Scott’s several times for coffee and bakery items and it has always been fantastic. It is a great location with good ambiance to it. With that being said, here is the bad that really prompted me to write this review… I made reservations for the Valentine’s Day dinner for me and my wife as soon as I saw them advertise for it. Being a small venue, I assumed the number of tables offered would be limited and would sell out quickly. Apparently I assumed wrong. We made reservations for dinner at 7:30pm a week before Valentines day. Arriving at 7:25pm there was a brief moment of unsureness as the host, waiter, & waitress were trying to figure out where they were going to seat us; they talked amongst themselves looking at the table layout asking if this table or that table was open. For a brief minute is appeared we would not be seated on time. After being seated we looked over the set course menu where you could choose one of several options for soup, salad, two small entrees, and desert. I know my wife and myself were particularly looking forward to the Butternut and Acorn Squash soup all week. Upon ordering we were told that the soup had already run out 30 minutes prior at 7pm. Bummed, we continued to place our order. It took twenty minutes for our two cups of soup to arrive at 7:50pm. After finishing the soup, we waited an hour and five minutes for the two salads to come out at 8:55pm. During this time, we overheard the waitress tell another table they were down to the last crème brule; another bummer as we had been looking forward to that all week as well. After eating our salads and waiting another hour and fifteen minutes for the first of our entrees to come out, we decided to leave at 10:10pm. At this pace, we would have been there until 1am to run through all 5 courses. While sitting at the table, I observed at least one table also leave due to the wait and the table next to us also complaining about the time it took to push the food out. Having worked in many kitchens throughout the years(to include the only 5-star restaurant on the Northshore), I am familiar with pushing food out of a kitchen. I observed the chefs(there were only two of them who were cooking out of a kitchen mock-up set aside in one of the dining rooms), essentially Round Robin-ing tables by pushing out a few sets of soups to one set of tables, a few sets of salads to another set of tables, a few sets of entrees to another set of tables, etc. This approach severely slowed down the efficiency of the kitchen. I did observe, who I knew to be one of the owners sitting at one particular table for 80% of the three hours we were there socializing and drinking martini’s and standing outside while his dinner service was essentially falling apart. I believe the big fault The Scott’s had was not realizing their own limitations(size of the restaurant, capabilities of the kitchen, etc) and therefore over-promising and under-producing. Many people always joke about taking your date to McDonald’s for Valentines Day; unfortunately as a lack of realistic planning on behalf of The Scott’s, this joke became a reality as I drove through the Highway 59& Florida St McDonald’s at 10:20pm for dinner because we had to pick-up our son from the baby sitters as we did not plan on being out as late as we were. For full disclosure, the soup and salad we had were both fantastic and what we did have was comped by the waitress and we were only charged for the bottle of wine we had. Unless The Scott’s can realize their deficiencies, I will not be back for special events like this. I will return for coffee, but never for special events.

Well… let me start with the good things. Coffee was really good. The ambiance, design and fire pit burning outside on a cold day — nice and inviting. Now the bad things. The food was horrible; bacon was overcooked and lifeless. The counter person recommended the Turkey and Brie — sounded good so I went with it — where was the Brie ??? Skimpy sandwich and poor, poor plate presentation — some chips were thrown on a plate with the very skimpy, bland sandwich. It’s not like the prices are inexpensive. There was no love, care or interest expended in providing a good food experience. Good coffee is not enough to entice me to return.

Went to the Scott’s on a Friday night for Tapas. I tried the Mahi and beef filet– both were amazing. My friend had the lump crab, avocado, and tomato dish which was outstanding– definitely a must try. The real show stealer is the brunch every Sunday morning. The sausage muffin was out of this world, and the crawfish with jalapeño corn bread was equally as delicious. I believe the menu changes week to week. I would come to the Scott’s every week if I lived in the area!

I have been a fan of The Scotts since it opened last summer. I have tried many items… breakfast croissants, lunch panini’s and several coffee drinks and smoothies. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I went on a «date night» for dinner recently and enjoyed several of their new tapas. My favorite(we tried 5 kinds) was definitely the cheese plate with this amazing blue cheese cake included with it. Heard the tamale tapas were good so I’m looking forward to trying that one next time. The ambiance is terrific and the staff was pleasant and helpful in providing suggestions.

Have eaten here for a late breakfast and also they just opened for dinner last night. Went to the soft opening. It is hard to pick between 2 and 3 stars since I’m reviewing for breakfast/lunch and dinner. I changed it from 2 to 3 and back again several times. 2.5 stars would be adequate here. For brunch they do an ok job. My 12 year old loves the smoothies. Nothing stands out as bad or great. For dinner it is served as tapas. When I think«tapas» I think traditional Spanish dishes for everyone to share. The Scotts version of tapas is just very(VERY) small plates for about $ 10 each. They do have a liquor license but the wine list leaves a LOT to be desired. They have 4 red wines. Two are Pinot and two are Malbec. What the heck? Definitely need more variety. Plus they are charging between $ 8 and $ 12 a glass for crap wine. The food was mostly tasty with some better than others. There are 9 dishes(I think) with the tamale being the best from the general consensus of the table. The cheese plate is also good. The shrimp plates were mostly all overcooked with one actually being mushy. They are just opening so I might go back in a year to see what they turn into but it was $ 100 for my family of 4 and we all left hungry.
