nice people working there and service is good but the quality is really questionable. presentation is below par and overall look of this place is sad. For such an insane location this place should have amazing food with just a dated building. So many better options this place needs to go.

I recently went to Fusion Sushi on a recommendation of my coworker. I was looking for a fun spot to celebrate a girlfriend’s birthday and he recommended this. I read a few reviews, called them and made a reservation for 12 on a Saturday night at 8:30pm and the rest you can read below ;) Upon arriving, the place is visually pleasing, easy to locate. We entered and the first thing I saw was the full bar. They actually have things other then Japanese rice wine/sake etc! Which is refreshing since most sushi restaurants are not accommodating to this. They already knew we were coming and they had set up a table ready for us to sit even 5 minutes before our reservation time! The atmosphere was very clean, tidy and dim lit. They were placing house music but not too loud to where it’s annoying. It looks like a typical mid-scale sushi restaurant The waitress immediately came over to us to ask for drink orders. She was very attentive the whole night. Mind you, her English wasn’t the strongest but she did her best to understand what we were saying and of course we were courteous as well. We ordered their cold sake special(750ML for 28 $) and a pitcher of beer(20 $). These were not happy hour specials, just normal prices. The sake and beer came out SOFAST. Maybe 2 minutes max? And it wasn’t like the place was empty, there were two other large tables like ourselves and people at the bar. Regardless, I loved it. After some sake bombs, we finally ordered sushi. My friend got three speciality rolls and the rest of us ordered the typical spicy tuna, scallop and yellowtail. Probably one of the best rolls I’ve ever had and I know spicy tuna is nothing special but wow it was delicious. It tasted so fresh and delicious! My friend loved her speciality rolls, I forget which one she ordered but they all looked amazing. When the bill arrived, gratuity was applied(15%) and overall the bill was fairly inexpensive. For two rolls, and a spilt sake and beer pitcher, I paid $ 33. In total, we probably waited about 10 minutes for food and beverages. You guys… is this even real life!!! That’s amazing! I definitely recommend this place for a birthday, friend celebration or just before going out. They were so accommodating to my group, we had a terrific time and I will be back again. Yay Fusion Sushi!

The lunch special here is awesome only $ 13.99 for 3 of any item +rice+edamame+miso soup. So much food for a great price and good quality sushi.

I went to Fusion Sushi Monday night with my family and a friend from out of town. It was quiet and we got to choose out table. Nice! We ordered all sushi and were very happy with the food and service. Attentive wait staff — wish I got his name but the man who waited on us was really nice and informative. Favorite of the night was the spicy tuna. Excellent! Also enjoyed the sashimi(yellow tail and salmon) along with tuna avocado roll. Kuddos for having Goslings Ginger Beer — my favorite and haven’t seen it many places out here. :) Will definitely be back and looking forward to trying the bento boxes at lunch time! :)

Great sushi. Lunch special is nice and the sushi is always fresh. Staff isn’t very welcoming, but is very attentive.

We’ve been coming here for years but unfortunately, this was likely our last visit here. The sushi is good, sometimes great, but the service is very spotty and when you get stuck with the bad waitress(often the only one there, and she’s been there for years) it pretty much ruins the vibe of the meal. My experience today was very similar to Diana C’s, who was there earlier today. The only difference? The waitress(who was really rude and completely disinterested in waitressing) added an 18% tip to our check instead of the 15% she charged Diana. We thought about questioning it but it’s Christmas Eve and I figured if she’s that desperate to automatically include a tip then I’ll let her keep it. The guy that works the front is very nice and friendly, but unfortunately his welcoming demeanor isn’t enough to make up for the rude waitress. As I said, she’s been here for years so management has to be aware of how bad she is and just not care. There are several other sushi places in MB so we’ll head elsewhere next time.

Came in today around 4pm and there was no wait, only a couple tables occupied. We were seated & the woman brought our table edemame & water(thank you). Im not sure if this woman was a waitress or some type of owner but her attitude was pretty bad. We told her we needed a minute to look at the menu before ordering. She comes a minute later with«are you ready?» in a blunt tone. She didnt check in with us at all during our meal — drinks weren’t refilled. The sushi was mediocre. Ive had better & much less expensive rolls at other sushi places. The portions are small & not well put together. Is it worth the drive? No. To top everything off we get the check and there’s 15% tip already applied. When she comes by our table to pick up our check, we ask about the 15%. She looks clueless at first, & after questioning the automatic tip more clearly, she says«its a mistake» are you sure? i really didnt want to be rude, I always tip, but ive never seen an automatic tip for 3 people having lunch. I was excited to try this place but i was not at all impressed.

It’s a restaurant bar, bar restaurant. Bring ear plugs and your own flask because the service is bad. It takes so long to get your drinks and order that it’s almost not worth it. However, when you bite into one of their rolls or order sushi it makes up for most of the bad. There is karaōke in the back with an ‘interesting’ selection of music with very lame videos. Check out the pictures of song selections to get the party started. They need to have a book with a list of songs by artist and one by song.

Great sushi. I had dinner with a party of four and then the next day had lunch at Sushi Fusion. Saturday night we had a half hour wait but having Sapporos at the bar and watching the football games made the time go by fast. To the menu… Small plate orders BBQ beef ribs -. These tasted like they had the Korean seasoning but I still like the flavor and that they were grilled. Calamari Rings — Calamari with light batter deep fried to perfection Sesame Chicken — Chicken with a sesame red sauce. Sushi Rainbow — tuna, salmon, shrimp and escalor(first time I heard of that kind of fish) with a California roll center Fantasy Roll — spicy crabmeat, gobo, onion, cucumber, avocado and shreaded crab Alaska Roll — tuna, salmon, yellowtail and escalor on soy paper All of the fish tasted very fresh. Sushi Fusion also offers 4 sizes of party boats to feed 4 to 10 customers. The service was impressive too, they came back and refilled the glasses of water. I guess this will be my go to place in Manhattan Beach, catchy name with a bright neon sign.

A great lunch option for Japanese bento boxes and rolls. There is always plenty of seating, even for larger groups, and they have TVs everywhere. I usually get the 3 item combo of sashimi, beef teriyaki, and miso cod(a must). The complementary edemame is always nice. I don’t expect omakase quality coming here, but as a lunch option, I think it’s great. They do have TVs all over which is great for those following a game. Inside and outside seating available, dogs allowed outside from what I’ve seen.

Being so close to the beach I wanted fresh sushi. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. Immediately after being seated 3 people walked to my table to bring water with lemon, edamame and miso soup. I ordered shrimp hand rolls and the Monster roll. I wish I would have taken a picture but frankly it looked too delicious and I couldn’t contain myself! I highly recommend this place for the food and service. So happy I was able to give this place a try. Oh, I also asked for extra ginger and the waiter brought out the biggest mound of ginger I’ve ever seen… lol. You get what you ask for here. Thank you for such a great experience!

Found a hair on my plate. Politely Notified the waitress that was near us, she grabbed the plate with the hair and just brought out a new one. The manager never once came to speak to us. Charging an average of $ 15 and up for a roll you would imagine you would receive some decent customer service. Save your money, go elsewhere.

I love this place. Great service, friendly environment and awesome sushi! All the sushi rolls are huge and the sushi piece are pretty large too. My favorite Roll is the Black Spider Roll. And The Rob Roll it’s not on the menu, but ask for it. It’s paleo friendly as well. I eat all of their sushi on the menu and it is all fresh and delicious. I have been going every Friday for the past 10 years. I would never go any where else to eat sushi in the Southbay. They also have several TV’S so any sports people, like myself can eat and watch the game Thanks to the entire staff and management for a great experience every time I come in.

The low ratings confuse me. I have been coming to fusion sushi for awhile and they have never let me down. It’s hard for me to find a place where I’m satisfied with both the nigiri and the rolls. This is one of ‘em! Salmon, yellowtail, halibut, tilapia, uni — all delicious. Zen roll — FAVE Spicy tuna hand roll — a classic I’ve tried many more but those are my top favorites. Must try! I try not to come here on weekend nights; They become super packed and it’s really loud. I don’t like to eat and scream at my company. That’s a no no. But if you come on a less busy time/day, you’ll be fine. Busy or not, the service is great. Most servers are really nice and know what they’re working with! Another plus about Fusion? Full bar! Whaaaat. Yeah. But I think it’s only available during dinner hours. (I usually visit for lunch) Parking is not free but easily accessible! Just park in one of the lots nearby.

I’ve lived in Manhattan/Hermosa for 9 years and this is my least favorite place, hands down. For some reason chicks LOVE to have their bday parties here. It is overpriced, loud as hell, the servers are very short/rude, the sushi is mediocre at best, and the non-sushi items are seriously inedible(I’ve tried all of them). People go here because it’s very loud and the perception is of some sort of weird Japanese club/karaōke bar. There is a room in back for large groups to get robbed of their money by getting them drunk on sake and giving them poor service. You are essentially paying to be able to be as loud/drunk as you possibly can get at a «nicer» restaurant without getting asked to leave. This is the sushi version of a strip club. You go there with excitement and up leaving broke, unfulfilled, and depressed with a headache and nausea. I’m not a huge sushi fan so I’ve tried every non sushi dish. The filet is probably the worst piece of meat I’ve ever had… and I’m being 100% honest. It was nearly $ 40 if I remember correctly and a hamburger patty at Carl’s junior is of a MUCH higher quality. I seriously can’t tell you how bad their beef is. And I know what you’re saying…“who gets steak at a sushi restaurant”? Like that’s some sort of an excuse to have unacceptable things on a menu. Here’s a thought – if something is horrible, don’t even serve it as an option. This review isn’t based on one bad visit, or even a few for that matter. I’ve been suckered into going to MANY group dinners for various reasons and this place always leave me extraordinarily disappointed, I’ve just never took the time to write a review. Don’t go here unless you have to due to a friends bday. And if you do, make sure to get the overpriced mediocre sushi… please don’t even try to get the non-sushi, it’s a horrible mistake:

One thing I love is the free soup and Edamame with your meal and that’s a good deal. I also have to chuckle every time I visit because it’s always decorated for whatever holiday it is. year round. What I mean is that you will see Santa, a snowman a witch and the Easter Bunny all at once in the dining area, ALLYEAR! They keep their holiday décor up in the corner near the roof in the dining area. It makes me laugh but I think I would be sad if they removed them. Kevin is great. He always makes sure we are taken care of. All the food is great. I have never tried the Stinky Albacore Roll, and I don’t think I ever will but I got a kick out of the name! It is probably pretty good if you like Garlic! It’s a roll with Boiled garlic cloves, arugula, truffle oil, and garlic ponzu on seared albacore sashimi. I work close by, so I frequent Fusion a lot and I have never had a bad experience. Their Macaroon Ice Cream is amazing. They also have a private room in back for parties which is really nice. I had my birthday lunch there last year!

I went here for dinner the other night, and I thought it was pretty terrific with great energy, great service, and very fresh fish(a staple for sushi places). Dining with my party of 3, we shared all kinds of stuff: Yellowtail sushi, Seared Tuna sushi, Special Albacore Handroll, Energy Roll, and Caliente Roll. All were spot on, and tasted all the more better with Nigori unfiltered and chilled saki(my fave). Overall, it isn’t the best sushi experience I’ve ever had, but it was darn good. Tip: Park in the multi-level structure and your visit will be hassle-free.

I went for a friend’s birthday and was seated in the back room that has more of a club feel than a sushi restaurant feel. They play club jams so loudly it’s hard to talk with friends without shouting. However, the front room is more of a restaurant and is probably better if you’re just going on a date or with a few friends. The back room turns into a karaōke room later at night which is a ton of fun. Backstreet boys, anyone? The sushi was mediocre – we ordered a sushi boat and I couldn’t really distinguish the flavors of each roll/they weren’t mind blowing. I think I would have to go back again and order a la carte rolls to have a better idea of the quality and taste. Prices were what’s expected for sushi.

FUSIONSUSHI is a solid place, the do offer some specials and deals. They have a Bento Box styled lunch for between $ 11 – 14 depending if you get 2 items or 3 items, which comes with Miso Soup, Steamed White Rice, Salad, and Edemame Beans and your choice of entrees ranging from sushi to tempura, fishes, chicken, beef, pork katsu, or other delights. The portions are okay, not huge, but«the sum of the parts equals a whole» in that it’s enough food to fill you when you get the lunch special, you shouldn’t have any leftovers. With that I’d recommend the 3 item over the 2 item since it’s only $ 3 more for another portion of a main entrée. They do some«couponing» in the local buyers guides sent around the South Bay beach cities as part of the junk mail you get once in a while. So, this is a restaurant who wants to earn your business and try them out, and once you do, you’ll probably return again. I’ve had both lunch and dinner here before and it’s a reliable place to eat at. The service is friendly and accommodating. Parking is as easy as it is for downtown Manhattan Beach. There’s a lot of paid lots and meters as well as some limited(time limit) free street parking(but watch the signs for the rules) if you’re willing to walk.
