While writing my review I was waiting for dessert. I ordered the vanilla tempura ice cream and it was amazing. I had never seen this on a sushi menu. If I can’t find this dessert anywhere else, I will come back for just the dessert. Then I get the bill and it was not that expensive!

Just encountered one of the worst dining experiences regarding service and payment. I.e. prices being outdated by $ 4 and not being told until after I receive the bill, being given tea for 3 people without ordering it, then seeing it on the tab for $ 9, etc. Food is okay, pricey for what you get. Go somewhere else.

sushi was fresh. they also had very simple nigiri, no uni, which is my fave. Yellowtai and salmon were both fresh and buttery. However, the service was extremely and painfully slow. There was only one other table that night(Saturday night) and it took us a little bit over an hour to order, eat, and pay. They had 1 hostess and 2 waitstaff, so it wasn’t like they were understaffed either. Everyone just took their time and disappeared. However, the waitstaff was friendly. The rolls were good, but I have had better.

Loved it when it was an AYCE Sushi place. Walked in for lunch & was informed it no longer was an AYCE. Very disappointed. Service was slow, waiters uninformed and Mexican sushi is just wrong. Rice & salsa doesn’t match. 5 people on a week day at 12:30p. With crowds like that, they won’t succeed. Whomever decided to eliminate the AYCE, made a mistake. Aji AYCE Sushi was something new & unique in Manhattan Beach. Won’t be back.

Alright so Aji is no longer AYCE. I was kind of bummed but now they’re going for a Mexican fusion feel. And boy is it good! I had the ceviche roll, tap out roll and I think it was the caliente roll(spicy). All these rolls were very tasty. Two of them were deliciously spicy. I was sweating. They offer spicy dipping salsas as well. It’s like sushi with a touch of spicy mariscos flavors. Love it. You can also find the regular rolls no worries. My server was great. If I remember correctly I think it was Heather. Sorry if I am wrong. Great service. Down to earth and friendly. I hope these guys get more support. They have a great vision here! Will continue to go and enjoy this new makeover at Aji.

Went a few times when it was AYCE and it was just ok but worth it. Service was horrible at pretty much every time I visited. There was always an excuse and an apology. New people… new on the shift… sorry sorry. However, I didn’t mind too much as you pretty much could get a table and enjoy the evening with your friends. However, I recently went back and the AYCE is completely gone. Should have been a sign when I first walked it when there was NOONE there. We looked over the new menu and it made no sense at all. Is it a sushi restaurant? I am not too sure. There wasn’t even miso or a salmon on the menu. What kind of sushi restaurant doesn’t have miso? So, we left and as we rounded the parking lot, I found the wait staff. The two of them were sitting on a bench, smoking. I highly doubt this place will be there through the summer?

Great fish quality for the price. It is AYCE, the service is good, and they must have at least 80 different items on the menu for you to choose from. Definitely much better than some proper sit downs, and for the value, it is a must try. I usually try and get sashimi with only a few nigiri pieces. The rice is medium/long grain and it’s a bit heavy and under-seasoned hence the 4 stars instead of the 5.

First things first — don’t come to an AYCE sushi joint expecting 4 or 5 star quality sushi. It’s a good place for happy hours, groups, want some variety or have a big appetite! Or all of the above of course. Aji Sushi serves AYCE sashimi during dinner in addition to everything on their entire menu. Soft drinks are included as well(no alcohol). The sashimi slices are pretty big, but not the freshest. But more importantly, you won’t get sick! I have dined here twice and while many might be wary of eating raw fish at an AYCE joint, you’ll be A-ok here. I love their desserts, which consist of several flavors of ice cream(black sesame!!) and a mango pudding that’s on the sweeter side, but delicious nonetheless. For $ 24.99, it’s a pretty good deal!

We tried this fairly new place on one weekday. Do not order Sashimi, especially tuna. The waiter was so attentive that I don’t even want to leave any negative reviews. I would say that they offer a deal breaker menu that nobody will complain. Well, at least I won’t. Come on! All you can eat for less than 30 dollars? Just don’t order Tuna!

ayce lunch price is $ 18.99 but if you want ayce sashimi it’s $ 24.99(dinner price). I was extremely disappointed with the ayce sashimi option. They had about 6 different types of fish for sashimi. –salmon –yellowtail –butter fish(white tuna) –tuna –snapper –albacore I wanted an eel with avocado hand roll and was told they don’t make that?! Come on, we’re paying for premium dinner price during lunch hours. They had other choices like octopus, squid, eel, but won’t let you do sashimi. It had to be nigiri – with rice. The quality of the fish was terrible. I thought the fish at Nijiya market taste better! Definitely not coming back.

Came here for lunch with the partner in crime because we wanted fish but didn’t want to pay a ton of cash for like 6 pieces of nigiri. Enter Aji sushi. $ 18.99 lunch not bad but 24.99 for sashimi. Remember that. The salmon was good but albacore and tuna was dry and a little too warm. The maki rolls were terrible sans the warm salmon one which was just average. Highlight was the grilled eggplant! That was simple and delicious. The pizza sushi wasn’t that great either. Particular low was that the spicy tuna wasn’t spicy at all! Huge low for spice lovers. Service was the only thing saving from one star. Not the best ayce by any means. 2*

I was excited about a new AYCE place opening up nearby me because I always had to drive far to go to a decent sushi place. Sadly, this place was a disappointment. I was surprised not to see yellowtail or scallop sushi on the list. The rolls were nothing special and the sushi rice was very bland. The udon was super sweet and the tempura was undercooked. Honestly, the dessert was the best part. I totally regret wasting my money here and I am definitely not coming back. I am only giving two stars because the staff was very nice but the food was very bad.

There is a parking lot that you can enter off of Manhattan Beach Blvd. Great sushi place if you want good price for AYCE. It’s $ 18.99 for lunch AYCE(discounts for seniors and children) and $ 24.99 for dinner(same discounts apply). Dinner offers a few more rolls than the lunch AYCE. The fish is pretty fresh. Go here if you want relatively simple rolls and a large menu of other items. The AYCE offers appetizers, soups, tempura, salads, dons, chicken dishes, hand rolls, regular sushi rolls, nigiri, desserts… I’m probably forgetting some other items as well. The rolls are simple, but good. They don’t offer as many special rolls as other places do, but for the lunch price, it’s a great place to go. Service is pretty fast and the servers were very nice.

AYCE dinner for $ 25. You get your choice of soda, appetizers, soup, salad, udon, fried rice, skewers, sushi, rolls, dessert, and sashimi are all included. Service was good but feel it could improve a little more. :) Bf and I will definitely be giing back and take our friends and family soon!!!

Excellent place! You will certainly get a bang for your buck. Food: Since this was an all you can eat deal, I was expecting the sushi to taste like it was prepared at Ralphs. However, everything was prepared well and tasted fresh. The mango yogurt was made from scratch and is definitely worth ordering. The udon and the salmon teriyaki maki were the best out of everything(we ordered so many items). Service: The service was way above average. Everyone seemed genuinely nice, and they were extremely attentive — the host, our server, and servers from other sections. I really appreciated how our server explained the menu items, and made suggestions based on his personal experience. Other: Parking was easy. The ambiance was pleasant and clean. There is a promotional 10% off discount as well. It covered our sales tax!

The hubby and I headed here on a well needed date night based on Unilocal reviews and a craving for LOTS of sushi. It did not disappoint. The hubby(Caucasian) liked the fact that all the staff are Asian. It made him feel the restaurant was going to be authentic, LOL. We got the AYCE dinners and were pleased that they included drinks. The hubby also got a $ 1.99 happy hour beer. I didn’t expect the sushi to be as good as it was. We ordered too much tempura. Skip it and start your ordering from the back of the menu to the front. The back page rolls are HUGE, so don’t order too many. The red dragon was both of our favorites. It has salmon on top and shrimp tempura inside. Yummy! The butterfish sashimi was soooo good. The salmon nigiri was delicious too. The tuna was a skip it, and it is usually my favorite. The spicy salmon was also delicious. The snapper was chewy and not a favorite. The albacore was pretty good. The hubby said the yellowtail was good, but I don’t care for yellowtail in general. I am glad we stuck to mainly sushi, sashimi and the back specialty rolls because we were beyond stuffed. It is very easy to over order here, so best to start off very small. Our food came quickly and everyone was superbly nice, especially Phong. I can’t wait to go again on another date night. We have even devised our strategy for maximum eating enjoyment the next time around. We managed to stuff in 4 orders of red bean and black sesame seed ice cream. Overall a wonderful experience! Update: I have been informed by fellow Unilocalers that this place has changed ownership and is now a strange Asian/Mexican fusion place.

This review is for their delivery service and food. I love the ease of ordering online through Unilocal/Eat24. I’m a bit out of their delivery zone, but I was still able to order. It came within 40 minutes as it says on my confirmation. Chris, one of the staff who delivered my food was so nice and polite :) As of the food, I had. –CHICKENKATSU — Very tasty and not greasy. Wished it was a bit thicker though. –SUSHICOMBO D– Came with 2 salmon, 2 shrimp, 2 crab, 6 california maki, 1 spicy salmon handroll and six daily sashimi. Supposed to come with miso soup and salad, but they forgot. Aw man. The sashimi were thick, but the tuna smelled a bit fishy. I only took a bite. The rest are very good especially the salmon hand roll. I’ll try their other specialty maki next time.

The location is kind of hidden and parking is a little hard to find. Regular customers to that building told me parking at Wells Fargo was perfectly fine with never any problems. I wanted to try this place with my wife after i was referred by a restaurateur that tried their other location in Rowland Heights which was said to have very great tasting and fresh sushi for«all you eat» Instantly when walking into the Aji Sushi Manhattan Beach, We were friendly greeted by the servers, bartenders, and even the managers. Our server Phong was very attentive and tried to explain the menu as clearly as possible. Its understandable that since this place is new and the grand opening has not even happened yet, minor problems or confusion is expected. But Phong was excellent introducing himself and thoroughly went through everything and answered all my questions. I felt like I was at a super high end restaurant receiving top notch service. I decided to move to the bar after I was told of the happy hour, and a stunningly beautiful server named Brittini gladly moved us cracking jokes and making my transition as comfortable as possible. $ 3.00HOUSEWINEAND $ 1.99DRAFTBEERFORASAHI, SAPPORO, ANDKIRINISUNHEARDOF!!! ALSOALLYOUEATSASHIMI!!! I decided to just get a la cart because i wanted to fill my self up with beer after a hard days work. I was instantly blown away by how extremely good-looking the bartenders were. They looked like they could have came straight off a fashion magazine. I caught my wife staring at the male bartender but i didn’t care because it distracted her from me eyeing the other female one. On top of that, the chemistry and interactions between the two bartenders was hilarious and pure comedy. The whole environment and experience of Aji was great. All the other servers, including the bus boy were all really fast and attentive even though their English was not good. I saw other people order the AYCE and i seriously don’t know how this place makes money. Everything is quality fresh made to order which had a large selection and variety I have never seen before.

Well the service for sure deserves a special star! Super nice and attentive great people there. The sashimi was great too . The all you can eat comes with a drink and dessert. The sushi is kind of generic, the green dragon roll was good because the shrimp was still nice and warm and the avocado was ripe and delicious ! They have grilled eggplant that is not always easy to get, it was good! And then they serve all kind of salmon pieces including the head, we tried the belly, nice. As desert the waiter told us we should try the sesame ice cream and that was a great idea!

The service here is excellent, very attentive and proactive from the front door through the service staff and management. They opened up in November 2013, and are(maybe by the time folks read this, it’ll be a past tense of «were») having a Grand Opening with discounts of 10−15%. They do have special pricing for children and seniors as well as a Happy Hour Drink Menu. AJI has an AYCE(all you can eat) option that’s not just limited to sushi. The menu is robust(reminds me in part to «Midori Sushi» in the Valley) where you can get nearly everything. I’ll post photos of each menu page to show just how diverse the selection is. The AYCE comes with a free drink too(nice added touch where a lot of other places tack on an added fee for drinks), with of course free refills on the tea and soda/soft drinks. The food quality is good. I tried a little of everything, including the pork cutlet katsu, tempura shrimp, beef udon, gyoza, fried tofu, sashimi, sushi, hand rolls, cut rolls, and they even have deserts like Ice Cream(Green Tea, Mango, Red Bean and a Black Sesame Seed) and Mango Yogurt(not sure if that’s like Chinese Mango Pudding or not). The price is about $ 20 for lunch and $ 25 for dinner +/-, and they also have menu items, so light eaters don’t need to do the AYCE when eating here as well. ACYE lunch ends at 3pm and AYCE dinner begins at 5pm. The sushi is good, it’s not like Sugarfish or Nobu of course, but for the price and the«All you can eat» aspect, it’s a great value. They have a robust bar area too with imported spirits. For the South Bay Beach Cities, this is a great Japanese AYCE restaurant. There’s a lot of Chinese /Asian AYCE buffets(self service) like Vegas Seafood, Grand China, China Buffet, etc. and none do sushi right. There’s a lot of Korean AYCE restaurants where you grill your own meat, but it’s usually just meat. So, this is a good place to go for quality Japanese food as opposed to the Asian buffets that feature what they consider Japanese cuisine. Also, the décor and ambiance here is more conducive for a nice night out like a date, so it has some nice curbside appeal and polish above it’s peers. This is located in the best part of Manhattan Beach, up a short distance away from the beach area, so you’re not going to have huge issues with parking or traffic. This is located near Sepulveda Blvd(PCH) on the same side as where«Hot TARGET» is and right next door to the Wells Fargo Bank. AJI has their own parking lot, it’s a slight sharp turn, so obey the speed limits and you’ll find it easier.
