Dan is a talented guitarist and teacher. As you would expect, his teaching philosophy mirrors life. I sought Dan out recently because I thought I would finally have time to get at that 6-​string Ovation that’s been cased up for a decade, too. 3 lessons and I found that, in between, I just didn’t have the commitment to pull my guitar out of its case, practice and make it happen.
Learning to play the guitar is not something anyone just «does.» There’s nothing you do that just «happens» by some mind meld. Your fingertips need to get tough, they need to find the instinct that will make the music flow.
Dan’s studio is spacious and welcoming, as is he. He starts you off just where you are, with the basics and what drives YOUR interests. I believe he’s a great teacher but you have to be a good student if you’re going to expect results. He believes that once a week in his studio is a minimum commitment and he’s probably right, but that’s an expensive commitment. Unless you’re already on the UWS, you’ve got to factor in some commute and that’s more commitment, in time.
So I stopped going, but that’s no fault of Dan’s. Dan has all the knowledge, he has the studio, he has the instruments, he has the experience, he’s waiting for YOU. Hopefully, I’ll get to work with him again.

Do not fall for his free intro class advertisements — HE IS A LIAR!!!
After taking what he advertised on his site and on the phone as a free introductory course, he blocked the way way from leaving his studio and told my bf that he owed him $ 100 and that intro’s aren’t free and he had to pay in cash or check. He obviously didn’t bring any money with him since this was offered as free and had to go to an ATM that wasn’t in network and pay an ATM fee to withdraw a $ 100 that he demanded I pay for the free lesson he offered.
Do NOT take lessons from him — INTRO CLASSES ARE NOT FREE AS ADVERTISED. HE WANTS $ 100 AND HE WANTS IT IN CASH RIGHT AWAY.
