Hilton Garden Inn

Very nice building. Very unhelpful customer service.

Location: Manhattan, Kansas is probably last on the mind of most travelers but for frequenters of Kansas State University or Ft. Riley, you won’t find a better hotel in the area. It’s centrally located for folks wanting to visit either the school or the base. You could ride a bike to the campus and the base is a short 15 — 20 minute car ride away. With downtown’s revitalization, the hotel is also close enough to walk to a lot of the new «adult» restaurants but far enough away to avoid the vehicle and foot traffic of both the new downtown scene and the college area buffoonery of Aggieville. In recent years, there have also been quite a few new businesses to sprout up just outside the hotel including a coffee shop and bakery as well as a fine wine and liquor store. The mall is also within easy walking distance with all of its added chain restaurants and shopping.
Ambience: It’s as if someone implanted a big-​city hotel in a small town. It’s warm and welcoming, yet chic. During a recent winter visit, they had a fireplace atmosphere in the lobby that sits near the front desk. A family enjoyed a little time with the hotel’s cookies and drinks before they left for an evening out. They also have a small bar area where a few folks enjoyed some drinks while watching sports. Finally they have a large dining area where in the morning you can enjoy a rather robust breakfast. All these areas are drenched in dark woods, warm overhead lighting and neutral colors for added relaxation.
Staff: The staff was as one expects from Hilton. They were very professional during the check-​in process, with less than 5 minutes spent at the front-​desk. Early preparation goes a long way. The attendant had all the paperwork pre-​filled with notifications for HHonors status choices for things like extra points, wifi and complimentary meals. They also were very helpful with pointing out where some of the hotels common areas are located. The cleaning staff was also very helpful in getting everything squared away so that coming back to the room was a pleasant experience. Check-​out, again, was a breeze. This process took less than 5 minutes with a quick print-​out of the charges and then a thanks for using their hotel. With easy access to their front and back parking lots, we were able to get out of the hotel pretty easily as well.
Room: Although there was a problem with a foul smell in the bathroom this time, I’ve stayed at the hotel many times before and never experienced it. I did make a complaint to the front desk about the smell upon check-​out and given their response to other requests in the past, I can only assume that it was taken care of quickly. Other than the smell, the room was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable for those who enjoy relatively firm but relaxing beds. The temperature was easy to control in the room which is very useful during the cold winters. There is a nice single person chair with ottoman for just relaxing with a book and a really nice desk and working chair for people that want to get a little work done in the room. There’s a flat panel TV with audio/​video and HDMI jacks available for gamers. Additionally, the bathrooms are well appointed with glass showers and a nice vanity. Again, throughout the rooms are dark woods, neutral colors and faux granite countertops in the bathroom. On the many visits that I’ve had to the hotel, it was always clean and well-​maintained.
Drinks/​Food: I’ve never actually tasted the food at the hotel but on my last visit, let’s just say that I was jealous of my family’s breakfast spread. Their breakfast offerings include any-​way prepared eggs, waffles and a variety of juices among other standard American breakfast offerings. It looked delicious and my family didn’t complain as they enjoyed the food. The hotel’s bar also included a variety of wine and spirits which seemed to be pretty standard.
Overall: I think that the Hilton Garden Inn is the standard for hotels in Manhattan, Kansas. The location, rooms and staff are unbeatable. Moreover, they’re reasonably priced for military members and for most of the year outside of the football season. If you’re going to stay in Manhattan, Kansas for any length of time, this is the place you want to start looking.

This Hotel is very clean, comfortable, and the staff is very polite. They make it a point to assure that you’re well taken care of. A Little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for! Worth it. Beware of the «complementary» breakfast though! It is miss leading on what is complementary and what is not. We paid for a hot breakfast that any other average Hotel would’ve Compted! Have Fun & enjoy your stay!

What I couldn’t understand is why this hotel is only bringing in 3 ½ stars. It was a very clean Hilton property with a nice and friendly staff. One of the easiest check-​ins I have had in a long time. Now it could be very clean because the property is fairly new and time hasn’t caught up with it yet, but from the pool, gym and my room I couldn’t see anything that was maintained or cleaned. It is located in a fairly good location about 2 miles from K State and 1.5 mile from aggieville to grab drinks. There are several restaurant options within a couple blocks and of course the in house dining. If you have little kids and it is warm out there are fountains across the street from the front door that they can play in. My only complaint was that the gym didn’t have any accessories to their weight machine,

So far fantastic! Housekeepers are amazing, especially Sue. Super helpful and upbeat. Breakfast down stairs is fantastic, especially the omelettes. Lots of fresh fruit and it’s just fantastic here. My only complaint is the room service has a better menu than the downstairs menu and they are closed at 9pm. ugh.

Looking at the pics online while making reservations for dinner it did appear to be a restaurant, but is actually a bunch of seating arrangement made in lobby of the hotel!
They team out of food we needed to order and they really need a real cook.
Chicken was burnt, had bread slices toasted on the side (the kind your buy in grocery store) the appetizer chicken wings where the kind out of frozen bag and heated up:(
The Thai noodles where a shame on Thai food .
Overall not a place to call a restaurant.
And the breaking deal was the person who got appetizer orders quoted the price of the dish when we ordered it, hello we had the menu with the price.
Don’t get fooled by the online menu

Stayed 2 nights this week. The room was nice as you would expect. But I feel the hospitality was poor. The deadbolt did not work on my room. The shower was either cold or hot no in between. The housekeeper left the door U latched while I was at meetings all day. I also ate at the restaurant and was served warm food not hot. I will not be staying here on any of my returns to Manhattan.

As I have stated many Hilton Garden Inn’s across the country, this one ranks as good as it gets — in other words it is a five out of five on the Hilton Garden Inn Unilocal rating spectrum! The woman who checked me and was kind enough to make me a coffee I went and checked the room out! She was extremely pleasant and accommodating for an employee working on a major holiday. The amenities are just as good as any other Hilton Garden Inn in the United States. If perhaps, you’re traveling across country and need to spend the night or a day or two in the Eastern part of Kansas, in the city of Manhattan, this would be a good choice! Better than any other place in Manhattan Topeka, Salina and/​or Lawrence — all cities in the eastern part of Kansas before hitting Kansas City.

Clean hotel with a great desire to please there customers. The hotel far exceeds any if the competing hotels in Manhattan. Bar and restaurants are a little slow. Not a whole lot to do in Manhattan — we were ther for a wedding and spent most the time at Tuttle creek lake/​wildcat Marina and had a blast.

The hotel is new and attractive and well-​located near shopping and attractions. Our room was nothing special with a decent view of the plaza below. We could hear doors slamming, people talking in the hallway, as well as the baby next door crying. Not exactly what you’d expect for a hotel of this quality, or for this price.
Since I wasn’t familiar with Manhattan, I went with the hotel brand I knew, but once in town I saw there are several hotels nearby, and I’m assuming cheaper alternatives to the Hilton Garden Inn.
At least parking was free — if you could find a spot — but the pool was small and over crowded as was the jacuzzi. I think a family invited their extended group of relatives to come by to use the pool — grandma and grandpa and a dozen cousins — and that’s the calibre of the guests.
To add insult to injury I booked through
and didn’t get any Hilton Honors points or credit for the stay.

A nice hotel and staff, but is located in the boring Manhattan, Kansas

This is a beautiful hotel, and one of the few 3 star hotels in the area, however I stayed here the weekend of August 18^th to move my son into college and after a long exhausting day, I sat down on the bed only to be told from my son’s girlfriend to get up because something was moving across the sheets. I jumped up and there was both a dead bed bug on the sheet as well as one crawling along the side of the mattress. We called the front desk and they apologized and offered to move us to another room which was ok with us and they offered to reimburse the 30 000 hotel points we used for our stay that evening. We were very satisfied with their solution and now today we received a letter that since there hasnt been any other complaints they wont be giving us our points back. Shame on them! My husband does a far amount of travel and we will no longer be using the Hilton. In the mean time I will share my story with as many Kansas State families as possible. I assure you they were noticable bed bugs. My mistake not dragging the front desk up to see it!
