Think you lay it down like Nas, or are you more old school, Run DMC style? Are you chill and kick it like Tribe, or do you be putting Mot%erF*#kers on blast like Dre? Whatever you’re into, Hip Hop Karaōke got it. They do a show about every 6 weeks at various locations in Manhattan(Mercury Lounge, Irving Plaza type venues), although the last two shows have been at Brooklyn Bowl. They provide the stage, soundtrack, and audience. You provide the lyrical styling’s of your favorite rap artists. Always a good crowd, these are the true fans of rap, usually between 30 – 40 years in age. Some of the performances are solid, and some fall off, but either way, you know all the words and rap along. This isn’t your typical Karaōke, there’s no screen with the words for you to read off, it comes from the heart, but they will provide print outs of the lyrics if you need a safety blanket. The best performances are groups of two or more, my favorite was a group of 8 that destroyed Wu Tangs Protect Your Neck. 300th Review!!!
