I came here with a group of 12 people during my trip to NYC. Overall, it’s a pretty cheap karaōke spot that has a good selection of songs. They also let you bring your own food, though we didn’t do that. Alcohol prices were reasonable and there’s a lot of variety. My only complaint was that it got really hot/stuffy as the night went on due to all the people in the room. I wish they had better air circulation or higher AC. Still, we had a fun night!

A bit expensive but a good place to have a good time with friends. Recommend large groups if you want to save some money. Also, drinks are a bit pricey so be ware!

Summary: Some of the cleanest most modern rooms in Manhattan. Some wear and tear on the chairs. great place for a party. English song list is great and on-line. On weekends make a reservation. The Rooms: Actually clean and updated. The benches do have wear and tear, though. However, if you’re from Asia and use to nicer rooms, this will suit you a bit better than some other spots. The sound system: Pretty good actually, you can adjust once in the room. Flat screen TV and mics are both solid. Bev & food: Food is BYOB and ATT does not have great reception downstairs. They do have a selection of menus though for nearby take-out. Drinks can be ordered separately at the bar or serviced to the room. There are some minor snack offerings like chips, etc. Staff: Nice people. Very responsive bartender and staff. Cost: Affordable. They have happy hour on the rooms and the charge is by person.

I took my daughter and 5 of her friends here for her 12th birthday. The kids had a blast! We had pizza delivered and brought our own bday cake. After our 2 hours were up we strolled down to Time Square. It was a great tone, super clean and friendly staff.

The renditions of the originals are dreadful, and you have to struggle to say on key, not to mention the distracting back-up singers throwing me off course. As mentioned by others, the stupid, pointless videos accompanying the song are an unnecessary distraction. The climate control renders the room either stuffy and hot, or igloo cold. And if you are older than 40, trying to find classics or standards is a futile endeavor. If you bill is $ 5.50, they will ask if you want the change-what???

What kind of karaōke place is $ 5/hour during the day and super clean? That’s so crazy. My friends and I went here on a whim when we went to NYC for a day and it was worth. Downsides were there’s not enough Disney songs and no Korean/Vietnamese songs to karaōke to, that’s accessible at least. They have an entire book of songs to choose from from like 2000 – 2015 so there’s a good selection. Use a controller, click buttons, and they pop up in queue, simple enough. This place let’s you bring your own food! We thought bringing snacks were going to be a problem, but nope they didn’t bat an eye to our bags of food. Oh my they even have a bar, how great. If you pick up the phone they even deliver to your room, how amazing is that?! Not sure if they let you bring your own drinks though.

Good addition to the neighborhood but the facility is outdated, so are the karaōke machines. Time to renovate and upgrade.

One of those«sing in your own room» type karaōke places. We came at around 2pm on a Saturday, and not only did they have space, but they didn’t judge us when we ordered tequlia shots in the middle of the day. Everything is standard. they have a bar serving up all kinds of drinks, however its a $ 10 minimum on credit cards. The technology itself is pretty easy to work with, but the song availability is just slightly outdated.

Probably one of the best, if not the best, places I’ve been for karaōke. We had a group of 25+ people and Duet was happy to accommodate. I wasn’t in charge of planning, but the girl who organized had no problem arranging for a large room. We each paid about $ 20 for more than 3 hours of singing, which I think is more than reasonable. Their going rates are around $ 6 – 8 after 8pm. I was especially amazed by the drink prices and quality, which we took advantage of immediately. Cocktails go well beyond regular well drinks(think Amaretto Sours and Gimlets) and are $ 5 – 7 on average. I really wasn’t expecting much from cheap drinks at a karoke bar, but each one I got here was great! Two drinks were strong enough to keep me happily buzzed for public singing, at the very least. Their song selection is extensive, current, and best of all, it’s in English! I’ve been to a lot of places where you just hit some controls in a song roulette of sorts and hope that something in English comes on, but this one was easy to navigate. Perhaps my favorite thing about Duet is that it’s BYO food. That’s right. You can bring in your own pizza, nachos, or whatever else is necessary to fuel your drunken karaōke needs. Overall, a great spot for karaōke, especially for large groups!

After a busy day with friends, we all decided to go karaoking — now it definitely wasn’t my choice to, but I had a great time with friends. Yes, this is the type I’m used to with your own private room and so you can just be embarassed in front of your own group of people and no one else or just be able to sing to your heart’s content. Actually was kind of impressed with how many popular top 40 songs they had on their list of songs, but it is hard to find all of them. The book with all the songs was slightly confusing since there were two books — one with the songs in alphabetical order and one with the artists. The artists one(for me) was easier to use and find songs to sing in. Protip: go with some great friends and just have a good time!

New Years Day. We just finished watching the amazing Allegiance on Broadway. So what do you do after watching an heart wrenching performance about the Japanese internment camps? カラオケ! Karaōke DUET53 was right up our ally to end a fun night out in New York City. This joint is Japanese owned, so many of the music videos in the private rooms will have furigana over the English lyrics. Tucked underground, this joint sports a lavishly long bar and plenty of rooms for you and your friends to sing all night long. They charge by the half-hour per head, and for two hours of singing on New Years Day, we wounded up paying around $ 15 each. While the bar area and hallways are nice, the rooms themselves don’t offer much aside from seating and song choosing. There’s no tambourins or funky disco balls to create some lighting effects inside. Song selection here lags behind a couple of months, with the most up-to-date being September 2015 Top 40. The English song list was expansive yes, but was only sortable by song name and not artists. Better prepare your lists beforehand! Drinks here were good, and we did a couple of sake bombs to start off the night too. Would definitely be interested in coming back here for more karaōke when I’m in town. Prices are much more reasonable than those of K-Town, and managing to snag a room on a Friday holiday night was great! Sing away friends!

I love the Duet but my favorite will always be the Duet 48 because of the fact that a whole lot of Karaōke therapy went on there. In any case I always reserve a room and this place is great for large groups. The rates are also reasonable $ 4 for anytime before 8PM on weekdays and $ 5 after 8PM. Please note that they open at 2PM which means you have to call to make the reservations after that time. 24hr cancellation is required and a credit card must remain on file. This particular location is brand new so that means the rooms are large, clean, and high tech even outlets available for if you bring chargers to juice up your phone after so much hilarious video footage. They have great affordable booze selections. We bought two bottles of bubbly for $ 45 each(La Marca Prosecco my fave). Not bad considering it was only four of us and all we needed help to improve our singing skills(or perhaps to provide auditory enhancement). The location was a perfect common place for my Uptown and the Bronx peeps as well as for my Astoria self. Definitely a happy compromise and much better option than the over populated & over priced Korea town Karaōke joints. You can also bring any outside foods just no outside drinks… It’s cheap enough not to matter:) will be back perhaps as soon as Sunday!

Definitely a good spot for some late night drunken karaōke. Been to a number of karaōke places and this one is definitely on the nicer side, with big, spacious rooms and reasonably priced, strong drinks. They aren’t great quality, but you wouldn’t expect them to be either. Their song list is just okay — some of it is a little dated, but otherwise it’s fine. Prices are cheap and they can accommodate really large groups. I think our group was somewhere between 20 – 25 people. It’s a nice alternative to the ones in K-town if you happen to hanging out near UWS.

Beware of large parties. We hosted an event with 10+ people. We asked the front desk to make sure they collect from anyone who leaves our large party early. After everyone paid up we were stuck as the hosts paying a large bill on top of our individual responsibility. Drinks and bar staff were great. Management was rude and penny pinching.

Decent prices($ 8.50/person/hr on a Friday night). The selection of songs is really great and they have a variety of different sized rooms to accommodate a range of party sizes. Drink prices are alright and the food is alright. The rooms are clean and well air-conditioned. Service is also great! They also take reservations, which is awesome.

I love Duet Karaōke 35. That place fails to disappoint, so I decided to check out this location. It has the same selection of songs and karaōke machine as the other location. They have a large variety of English songs. What I like about them is that they update their songs every month. They listen to their customer’s suggestions and follow the latest music. Rooms are nicely air conditioned. Very clean. I love the spacious rooms. I find them more spacious than Duet Karaōke 35’s. A bad thing about Duet is that you can’t bring your own drinks. At least they allow you to bring your own food though. A odd thing about Duet is that the backgrounds are sometimes so irrelevant for the songs they match it with. My friends sung a rock song and in the background we saw two pigeons relaxing on a rooftop when it had absolutely nothing to do with the song. It was so ridiculous it was funny. I think Duet likes to take scenes from Korean dramas and just put them in there without much thought.

One of the best karaōke places I’ve ever been to! Why I love this place: — OPENSAT2PM! I don’t really know any other places that open this early and as an underage student, it’s great. — Only $ 4/$ 5 per person per hour until 8PM on weekdays! It’s so cheap it makes me want to stay for a little too long. — Clean. Compared to some other places it actually seems a lot more sanitary. — Rooms are pretty spacious. — Air conditioning works great and are adjustable for each room. — SOMANYSONGS. I especially loved how they had a lot of theater songs. Some of my favorites from shows I’ve done and shows I wish I could be a part of(West Side Story, Les Miz, How to Succeed, Carousel, Phantom of the Opera, etc.). I didn’t request for the Asian songs because none of my friends that were with me really knew any of them, but I definitely want to try those out next time.

Found this place from a Google search because a friend wanted to do karaōke for her birthday. I called ahead to reserve a room for 4ppl for 6pm, the guy on the phone was very nice, explained everything and checked ages before we got there. We were running behind and I called to let them know and they made changes up to 10mins before my reservation. Although they got my name wrong lol, my group was able to get into a room as soon as we arrived. LOCATION You’ll miss the entrance it’s on 53rd between 7th&8th closer to 8th(next to a parking garage-their sign is hidden under the parking garage sign). A, C, E trains are closer at 50th St. Station. ROOMACCOMMODATION The room was a decent size for 4 people-it was clean, 2 coffee tables for drinks and song books, dim lighting, and big screen TV on the wall. Remote was not in English, but if youve ever worked a remote in your life you would easily understand the symbols for«play» «stop» and«enter». Song books are by artists and song titles. BESTTHINGS… –Coat/bag hangers in the room on the wall so you maximize the bench spaces –Great selection of songs, wide variety and through the years for certain artists –MARATHONKARAOKE(open-close for like $ 12 per person) –Phone in your room connected to the front desk in case a mic wasn’t cooperating or any other technical difficulties –Bring your own food –Prices are amazing! Anyone can go karoaking on a budget DISLIKES –If you wanted extra time like an extra 30 mins you couldn’t, prob because it was 8:30 pm on a Friday Night –Separate drink bills required you to go to the bar & no BYOB –Not really a dislike, but some of the background videos for the songs were more distracting than connecting with the feel of the song lol maybe I’m over thinking karaōke hehe ALLINALL For a steal like this-«I’LLBEBACK…»

Drop a Beat and not the Big Bucks Service: 4.25 Stars We visited Karaōke 53 on a Wednesday night after much planning and we weren’t disappointed. The service was fast and friendly. They were more than helpful with our constant barrage of questions since we are not your«typical» karaōke crowd. Ordering drinks was a breeze. It was quite surprising since we were a group of 10 and we received our drinks within 5 minutes of ordering them. It was a Wednesday night, but it still is impressive. The cleanliness of Karaōke 53 is a big reason why I will return in the future. Of all the karaōke joints I have been to this has by far been the cleanest, considering the messes people make after getting tipsy and drunk. The biggest plus is the condition of the restroom. That is quite easily the most likely horror story in any restaurant/bar/etc. It was immaculate and seems to be sanitized on a regular basis. Technology/Song List: 3.5 Stars The song list is virtually endless. If you cannot find a song you are looking for, then it is likely extremely obscure and unknown. If you are like me then the song you want to sing won’t be there. They provide a list of the Top 100 most requested songs they received the year before so if you want to sing«Gangam Style» or «Bye Bye Bye» if will be there and easily accessible. There is no scoring system which is one of my favorite parts of karaōke since you can make a game of how bad the scoring is. If there is a scoring system we were unable to find it and too lazy to ask about it. Drinks: 4.5 Stars Beers for $ 4/$ 5, mixed cocktails and wine for $ 6/$ 7 sign me up! Karaōke 53 has a large bar and a menu to match the size of that bar. The mixed drinks are very good. The alcohol is plentiful, not over the top, but more than enough to make it worth the money. Variety is something that isn’t lacking here. There are 16 combinations listed on the men u for vodka alone including 7 premium vodkas which cost extra. I’m certain the bartender would be happy to create another concoction upon request. The non-alcoholic beverages are standard city prices. Overall: 4.25 Stars If you are looking for a clean place, good cheap drinks, solid song list in English this is a nice place to visit. My only complaint is the lack of a scoring system once the song is completed. I know they are regularly inaccurate, but it adds a nice challenge factor for all the singers. Being able to bring your own food is a nice plus considering their limited menu of finger foods. It also brings in an earlier crowd since most people usually do karaōke after dinner. The prices for karaōke are very competitive for the area, especially since most of the competition is in K-Town. Good alcohol is the heart and soul of good karaōke. You’ll find great alcohol here, so I’m certain you know what that means!

This is the newest location of the Duet karaokes. It is extremely clean inside and modern looking. The sound systems are also top notch. As the place gets older and wear and tear sets in, maybe not. But for now, the sound quality here is excellent. A good tip to keep in mind is that you can also lower and raise the volume of the music and the microphones on the unit itself. I came with two friends and we were actually given a very large room. From what I saw walking past the rooms, the rooms here are a good deal larger than the ones at the other Duets. Their song selection is also one of the best I have ever seen. They have all kinds of genres and are constantly updating their library with newer songs. Another good tip is that you can go on their website and look up songs in their library, and you even get the video number to input into the system. It is more up to date than going through the books on the tables. They have a solid menu of alcoholic beverages and some Japanese food as well. You are even allowed to bring your own food as well. It looks like I have found myself a new go to karaōke spot.
