Great service and decent food for a little café. The breakfast sandwiches were good and the bagel & lox platter was really impressive.

I was here for the Pikes Peaks race and needed a place to get some work done. Spice of Life was perfect – reliable internet, reasonably priced(and delicious) coffee/tea and the chicken caesar wrap was delicious and only $ 5. I wish they could open a location in Boston!

A great find! The people were all really nice, and THEYKNOWWHAT A DEMITASSEIS!!! Do I need to say more? Well, yes I do, actually. The espresso my husband got in his demitasse was near perfect; he let the barista know, and she was glad for the feedback because she’d been tweaking the setup on the espresso machine. How cool is that? We had a nice little break in the middle of a very hot day in this place. We will come back again, and we’re going to try to catch their breakfast. Super kudos to Spice of Life!

What an adorable coffeeshop. The people there are super friendly. The place is clean, inviting, and has great places to sit and talk. My daughter and I enjoyed a nice game of chess, using the wonderful board built-in to one of the tables all set up for you to play. My wife didn’t want a drink, but they brought her an icewater. What wonderful and thoughtful service. Did I mention the free Wi-Fi and an outlet for charging my iPhone. Definitely recommended.

Great little place in Manitou Springs! If your looking for a good foudu place with wonderful environment, this is the place. Try the package menu to get a variety of experience. Wild game is wonderful. Walk around before dinner because looks can be deceiving as the portions will fill you up!

The two women who work here could not be grumpier, unfriendlier nor more blah. We felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. Their inhospitality colored our/everyone’s whole experience here. So much so that I am contacting the owners to alert them.

The espresso machine was broken at my fave spot so I brought my out of town family into the café to grab a quick coffee. I’m always confident bringing visitors to Manitou because of the grateful business owners and friendly service. Sadly, we felt like a huge inconvenience to these merchants. The coffee was great but I will not be back.

The man who took our orders didn’t listen to them, however that turned out to be a good thing because our iced lattes were terrible. I ordered the smoky foam white top(or something) and my best friend ordered the Michaelangelo. Her’s tasted like pure sugar and water– nothing else. And she likes sweet coffee. Mine, on the other hand, tasted just like the ocean. Not even kidding. It was puckering my mouth two sips in and we had to throw them away. I’ve never had a worse latte in my life, especially for the price point. I’ve never even left a bad review on Unilocal before. We got coffees somewhere else. They were successful.

LOVED this place!!! The food is fabulous! My mother and I stopped in for a coffee drink while touring Manitou Springs and then realized they had more than just spices, coffee, etc. They have an expansive menu. And the owner, seeing we were maybe rethinking our choice of just having coffee, suggested their tapas dishes. SO glad he did! We sat on the patio outside… enjoyed a wonderful tapas dish and a glass of wine. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a few days later and had a different tapas dish… and more wine! Of course! I plan on going back as many times as I can while I’m in town. Great way to take a break from walking Manitou. Do yourself a favor and stop by this place if you’re in the area! You’ll be glad you did!

Good gelato, HORRIBLESERVICE. Barista making my drink was extremely pissy when I requested nonfat milk. It wasn’t the end of the world but he acted like I had just wasted his life. If someone is that upset over making a drink, he should find another line of work. Too bad too, its a small shop but I can see why it was empty on a Saturday.

When I lived in Colorado Springs, my friend and I would take an extra long lunch once a week and treat ourselves to a delicious sandwich. Glad to see its still around.

The greek sandwich was good, but not good enough to endure the rude and disrespectful treatment. The guy at counter was so incredibly mean to me and my cousin when asked for recommendations on what to order. We were close to walking out — had we not been on a tight schedule we would have. Again, i have never been treated so poorly.

No I didn’t buy any specialty spices, tea or coffee they sell. So why am I reviewing them and why 5 stars? Three words… Hot man Sammie… if I could marry a sandwich it would be this. I may have said that in another review, but I take it back. The hot man is the one to beat now. Now I have never been a sandwich person… Subway-blah– Quiznos– blah… Schlotzsky’s blah … You get the idea, but the hot man sandwich had my love of Mexican and Italian food/flavors all in one. The intoxicating taste of jalapeño peppers, layers of mortadella, Genoa salami, capicolla, and a chipotle aioli on sourdough bread. This is the sandwich to compare all other sandwiches. Spice of life… Great job. People of manitou springs run… Do not walk… Skip Mona Lisa fondue, famous new York pizza and all those other places to eat and here. It’s cheap… Quaint… And above all delicious. When you enter Spice of Life on one side of this small store is the spices, the middle has tables and chairs, the other side is the register and kitchen area aka where the magic happens. You order at the register(very nice and helpful staff) take a seat and wait for them to bring you the food… Then people you just devour. Don’t think … Just pick your hot man up and succumb to some amazing food. Finish and then promptly order another one … What… I can’t be the only one that did that???

Ate lunch here at around 1pm and was suprised there were no other patrons. Not just a restaurant but also a small deli/market. I really, really love bulk spices so I think I’ll go back at some point to pick some up. There were also, what looked like homemade cookies and locally made«tree hugger» type granola bars. Not knocking them, just the best description. I had an italian sandwich which was very good and tasty. Served warm with seasoned oil on the side which, I think, added to the yummy-ness. Condiments(mustard, mayo) were optional but I just wanted the oil, I think it was a good choice. The meat portion was fairly generous and the provolone was good. Lettuce, tomato and onion came with and was not too much or too little, just right. The potato salad I chose for the side was disappointing as it seemed like the standard institutional style potato salad all the restaurants buy in gigantic tubs. If it was made in house, it’s a real let down. Very mustardy and a bit on the grainy side.. .. .. if you like that, go for it. Not grainy from the mustard either, which would have been a good touch. There were other sides as options and I’ll try those next time. The wait staff seemed friendly and quick in just the right portions, for me(Not overly friendly or overly bothersome, I personally don’t like too much interuption from the wait staff, just my own thing) Keep in mind, this is Manitou so it’s going to be spendy-er.

Ambiance: Nicely renovated older turn-of-the-century building. Also doubles as sort of a food store, with a large selection of coffees, lose teas and spices, and some gourmet and imported food items for sale. Order at counter, and food is brought to your table. Service: Arrived at 1230 for a weekday lunch, and there was a queue about six people deep at counter. Just one person working counter, and one person in the kitchen area, who also delivers the food to the tables. Expect a wait. Food: Kind of surprised with some of the reviews like«best sandwich ever». Although good, and much better than chains like Subway and Quizno, this is on par with the kind of sandwiches I slap together at home. Typical deli meats and cheeses, nothing out of the ordinary. Ordered their chicken noodle soup that arrived in a mug. It was good, but I’ve had better(the chicken noodle soup you buy fresh from Costco beats this hands down). Overall, attractive and fun place to grab a quick bite. Decent food, though nothing extraordinary. Good if in the area, but certainly not a «destination» place to dine.

Oh YUM. Cute whimsy place to grab a bite in Manitou. Sandwiches are a bit on the pricier side starting around $ 7.50 or so but well worth it. Fresh ingredients and innovative sandwiches. You can pick a side of chips, 4 bean salad, potato or macaroni salad. However, note that the service is sooo.sloooooow. Mind you we are in the mountains and it’s run by hippies. But have patience my friend-for you will have one of the best sandwiches you’ve ever tasted here! While I was waiting I got to peer around what they had for sale. They offer tons of teas, herbs, and other imported cookies and snacks. I got an italian soda with my turkey/bacon/avocado croissant and it ran me almost $ 14. I am not complaining though since I loved every bite!
