This should be a 3.5. Hostess desk was very friendly and energetic. I did call ahead to make a reservation just in case. They were polite and accommodating. The sushi was very good considering the only places around to get any is the grocery store or from Chinese buffets. It tasted fresh, pleasant combination of flavors, and had a large selection of options. My husband ordered the hibachi. In his words, «it was nothing to write home about.» The biggest negative was the server we had. I had read other reviews related to this, but I’m always willing to give the benefit of the doubt especially when it comes to online reviews. It was not super busy as we came in before the dinner rush yet we weren’t checked in on a regular basis and even when we were, they were always so quick to scurry away before we were finished ordering. Also a beverage had been completely forgotten about that was ordered shortly after sitting down until almost the end of the meal. All in all, we will probably be back for the sushi, not the service.

After many people asking how the cooked portion of their menu tasted, I decided to part ways with the sushi and«raw» section of their menu. Tried the filet mignon hibachi and was blown away by its freshness and sauces that accommodated the meat. Delish. Veggies were fresh and the rice was amazing. Wait staff was stellar and prompt this time. They are learning their ropes and meeting our needs.

This restaurant really impressed me when my food was served. I’ve had all kinds of sushi in every big cities almost, from east coast to west coast, US to Japan. I didn’t expect to have such a nice sushi when I drove through this city. Very impressed much recommended. And the owner is pretty and gorgeous by the way. 10⁄10 will come back next time I am here in this city.

For the Manitowoc area the sushi was good. Nothing we need to go rushing back for. Didn’t take long to get our food even though they were really busy. Just a warning to be careful because the floor was extremely slippery. We could not walk normal in there, you had to glide like you were ice skating. The restrooms were even worse!!!

So much more than sushi. Large menu of unique choices. We were extremely satisfied with our meal. Only complaint was that our entrees came out at different times — almost 10 minutes apart.

We been in this restaurant twice already. And I will give this place 3.5 stars First was on Sunday lunch and everything turn out good we start with miso soup and edamame both dish was ok. And we ordered 5 different rolls of sushi(shrimp tempura roll, eel avocado roll, salmon roll, Romeo&Juliet, Tokyo roll) all rolls is well prepared but sushi rice is a little bit hard feel like an overnight sushi rice but overall we think is ok for Manitowoc tho. Went back again on Saturday evening for dinner, This place is packed so we wait for table around 40 mins, 10 mins later first sever take our drink order 10 mins later drink came another 15 mins sever back to is to take our order so this time we ordered 2 salmon nigiri, 2 eel, angry bird roll and ocean roll, 30 mins later food came out. Sushi roll are very good but the salmon nigiri is the worst! I don’t know how they let this out of the kitchen by far this is the most horrible job for slice salmon filet full of fat and fish temperature is warm yuck! So my conclusion is I will go back again because this is the closest sushi place for us(23mi) and I will go for sushi roll on lunch time, no more nigiri on weekend! Recommend roll: ocean roll, angry birds, Romeo and Juliet

I love sushi, and this place is the nearest place to go get sushi. It took a little while for the food to come out, even though there was only three other tables. Our sever never came back to refill our drinks, not that he was busy with other customers but he was standing by the bar joking around and talking to his coworkers. The food was average, it’s not top of the line sushi but it’s better than buffet sushi. The sashimi. After the first bite, you can tell it’s not the freshest. Over all, it’s an average place for sushi.

For this place just opening there sure are a lot of high reviews. Yes, until now, the only way to get sushi in Manitowoc was to buy it at the local grocery store! Im sure we are all glad that we can now get quality sushi locally, so I do understand the excitement. But This place is not a 5 star sushi restaurant. Quite frankly I think the comments about it being better East Coast, West Coast, Chicago, Vegas and all other parts of Wisconsin to be a bit fishy. Especially because most of the writers have on one review… I give this place a 3.4 at this point, but I think they have the ability to get better! We went on a Friday night and they were way understaffed. When we tried to order sushi, we were told upfront that it would take 15 – 20 longer than any meal on the menu. I think they only had 1 or 2 sushi chefs and the orders were way behind. I’m sure this will get better, or would not be a problem on week nights. I ordered chicken teriyaki and it was good, but the waitress forgot the fried rice. Instead she gave me extra white rice. The sushi did come later and was good. Well prepared and professionally presented on the plate. Worth coming back! The restaurant is a welcome addition to the area!

Sushi — YES! Very much recommended. The spicy tuna is on point. Angry bird is amazing! Rainbow roll was something different but you could taste all the fish in this one roll. Eel and Dragon roll were refreshing(and creamy because of the avocado). The shrimp tempura was just right; nice and crunchy. I’ve been here three times now in less than one month! Pricing — Compared to places in Chicago and St. Paul, even Milwaukee and Madison, it’s such a steal. The lunch rolls especially, you get 2 rolls for $ 8 or 3 rolls for $ 10 – 11. NOWTHAT’S A DEAL! And you even get miso soup and salad. Staff & Service — The hostess is so friendly she remembered us from the very first time we(my wife and kids) ate here. The waitress was very accommodating and even though she got one of our orders wrong, she came back to apologize. She was great with our kids as well. Hibachi — I have yet to try and look forward to it. Maybe I’ll go today! All in all — very good sushi for a small town like MANITOWOC!

I’ve been here at least once a week since it opened. I love it! Great rolls and sashimi. The menu is very big and just about everything is delicious. The quality of their ingredients is excellent as is every member of the wait staff. I highly recommend the sushi sets under the Sushi Bar Entrées section(my fav is the salmon lover). I only wish they had spicy spider maki rolls…

I was a little skeptic at first it being a sushi place in Wisconsin since I’m a huge sushi fanatic from Los Angeles with very good sushi places so I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious I can honestly say. Not to mention the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We are here visiting from California, when I’m back here I will definitely visit again. The manager was also very sweet too.

For those of you that know me. You know I eat a lot of sushi in Chicago and Vegas. I’m not saying this place is that good, but for Manitowoc it’s a step in the right direction. Everything was fresh nice presentation, clean and great service. Menu is huge with a variety of rolls and hibachi dinners. I will go back!

Excellent authentic Japanese fare. I’ll be stopping here again to try other items on the menu
