Just left this place for lunch and the food is absolutely incredible… Got the chicken wings which are a lot like the local Wendell wings but in my opinion, much better… And the ribs were to die for — falling off the bone with a great flavor. We had the burger and that was great and big… All around the food is wonderful… The outside is deceiving to what kind of place this is — but it’s delicious. You won’t miss coming in here…

Date of service: June 5, 2015 Meal: Dinner, dine in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 6 Food to Spend Value: 6 Quality of Service: 6 Overall Rating: 6 I love trying new places, especially BBQ places. When searching for some new spots to try on Unilocal,Tasty Ray’s popped up. They had pretty good reviews and had a number of BBQ items, so I decided to go with my father in law for dinner this evening. One look at the menu told me this was not a BBQ restaurant, but rather a bit of a smörgåsbord of everything. In fact, I don’t think I have ever quite seen such variety on a menu before. Based on recommendations we ordered 2 appetizers to split: Stuffed Jalapeño Peppers and Ann’s Bacon Wraps. The jalapeño peppers were stuffed with sweet sausage, marscapone, and peppers. They had a very unique presentation and flavor and were pretty good, but they were not amazing. Ann’s Bacon Wraps were essentially bread, bacon, and cheese melded together, which sounded pretty awesome. They had a pretty interesting flavor, though quite a few of the pieces were a bit overdone, so again they were only ok. I felt like they had so much more potential, which was disappointing. Since I went in with BBQ on the brain, I decided to order the Fall Off the Bone Baby Back Ribs. I changed up the sides and got panko crusted macaroni and cheese and asparagus. The ribs were alright but didn’t really taste like they had their due in a smoker, and though they were tender there weren’t as tender as the name implied, leaving a lot to be desired. The asparagus was pretty average, as was the mac and cheese. In fact, average is a pretty good way to sum up the entire meal. Tasty Ray’s is small with a very casual feel. The service was quick, and the food arrived quickly. The quality of the food varied and was never bad, but it was never great either. I was definitely disappointed given my initial high expectations. Turns out that Tasty Rays isn’t as tasty as I had hoped, and I don’t think I will go out of my way to visit again.

Unfortunately — the anticipation of going to Tasty Ray’s was higher than what we experienced shortly after they opened in Mansfield — next to Café on the Common. We had heard great reviews and opinions about the ribs and barbecue from their catering business and was expecting to have something like this in the restaurant. We went there for a Sunday Brunch — the buffet was simple — but had some variety. I was not impressed with many of the selections(traditional eggs, potatoes and other Southern touches) and was disappointed that they did not have any ribs or barbecue items on the buffet(huge miss). However, when I mentioned this to the waitress; she was nice enough to go to the owner and brought us out a plate of ribs with our meal. Honestly — that is what saved it from being a total flop and disappointment. The ribs were fantastic, hot, falling off the bone and packed with smoke and flavor. Overall — I did appreciate the fact food was hot in the buffet and was fresh. The bread pudding was my favorite. We have not returned because of this experience. The business does not scream barbecue — which surprises me. The location could use a style upgrade to better match the food being offered(several other business have been in that location). Tasty Ray’s clearly focuses more on the catering portion of their business(as it took them over 6 months to open) — as the kitchen is spectacular and I assume meets the needs of the catering business. I was hoping Mansfield could have a good rib and barbecue place — but Tasty Ray’s fell short for me and I have heard nothing on the street that would encourage me to want to come back in to give them another chance.

First time visitor on the recommendation of a friend. Had the bacon cheeseburger. Good size and juicy. Also tried the bacon wraps and those were incredibly good. I heard from two patrons that the kale soup was really good and my son enjoyed the bruschetta as well. Small place but clean and friendly staff. Will be visiting again.

Went here with my wife based on the great reviews. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the expectations. The décor is unassuming. Basically just looks they set up some tables in an old house. There wasn’t any music playing and the lighting was a little high. We went on a Friday night. A party was leaving and we were the only people in the whole restaurant. It was a little strange without music and the host/server standing 10 feet from us. It felt like she was in on anything we discussed. The host/server was cheerful and nice, but a bit absent minded. She forgot our beer order and had to re-ask and forgot to bring silverware to our table even though no one else was there. For the food, we got the bacon wraps which were highly recommended and the BBQ plate. The wraps were pretty gross. I think they had been microwaved because they were very hard and difficult to eat. The BBQ place was decent, but nothing special. We left disappointed, as we’d hoped to find a new little favorite spot. I don’t think we’ll be returning.

Ray’s a great guy and and even better cook. I think I may have just gone on an off night. Next time I’ll stick to the ribs.

Great little restaurant with all around great food. My husband and I both really enjoyed it. I had the steak tips, mashed sweet potatoes and the grilled corn, all unique and delicious! My husband had the NY sirloin, roasted red potatoes and the mac n cheese. Some other reviews mentioned the good music and I have to agree, loved the playlist they had on!

Food was amazing. There was a round of applause when the ribs, mashed potatoes, and veggies were presented on our table. I personally went with the bacon cheeseburger and asparagus, big time recommendation. It was if our waitress was reading our minds — she had the service dialed. When I thought things couldn’t get any better third eye blind came on which made me realize how many great songs they already played. All around great place!

Great food and lots of it. Highly recommended steak tips, ribs, and their fish and chips. Favorite sides include mashed potatoes, polenta, and French fries! Wear your stretch pants cause you will leave full!

This restaurant looks simple and unassuming, but the food is fantastic. I had the Pork Alentejara, infused with a delicious marinade that also forms the dish’s broth. Other family members had the roasted short ribs and the skewer dish, both equally delicious. You can judge the quality of a restaurant’s fare by the attention given to side dishes. The crispy french fries, the Portuguese rice, the polenta, and all the vegetables are delicious. This place is great and we will be back!

Stopped by this place on a whim and, to my disappointment, it was horrendous. The server was cordial enough, but nothing spectacular. I say this because I finished my drink early and she never once asked if I wanted a refill. At the same time, I never requested one. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was burnt and the soup tasted like it came out of a can and was gooey as though it was loaded with preservatives. I tried to taste the grilled cheese, but all I could taste was the burnt taste. My date got the chicken, broccoli, and ziti dish. The dish was doused with olive oil and that’s all you could taste. It was supposed to be a wine sauce, but all you could see and taste was the olive oil. Needless to say, nothing was edible. Having left after one regrettable bite, I am thoroughly disappointed.

Went to a comedy show last night and stumbled upon this place just by its close proximity to the Xfinity Center. On the outside, it looked more like a sandwich place, very unassuming and the paper menus further added to its unpretentiousness. Dinner options consisted mostly of meat based dishes here but there were still a handful of great seafood choices. I went with the baked stuffed shrimp as suggested by our server and couldn’t be happier with it. The shrimp was freshly made and seasoned just right. The short ribs with their Portguese rice also gets a seal of approval. Thumbs up for both entrees. If you’re around the area, pay a visit to this hidden gem. Guaranteed to be the best place closest to the Mansfield town center and the service is warm and welcoming.

Delicious Delicious Delicious– Finger-Licking– Mouth Watering– You have GOT to eat here– food. The service was helpful and cheerful.(thanks, Maggie!) The wine was plentiful(Mark West Pinot Noir): the Bloody Mary was spicy, and the reisling was cold. My family met at Tasty Ray’s for Father’s Day Brunch, a wonderful mix of breakfast foods, and finger-licking ribs and lobster mac-n-cheeses. — My boyfriend and father had dinner at Tasty Ray’s two nights before, and loved it so much that my father went back for Father’s Day reservations. Thank you for a wonderful celebratory Father’s Day.

Stopped into Ray’s at the suggestion of a local friend and was sooooo glad I did. Brunch was amazing. My travel partner and I each just stared at eachother after taking bites of our panko topped mac n cheese. So good. Like– CRAZY good. As a matter of fact — literally everything I piled onto my plate was outstanding: turkey meatballs so juicy and flavorful they would make my Italian mama cry, chicken/spinach/pepper and cheese rollups to die for, and that mac n cheese? Lets just say Im still thinking filthy thoughts. I was told Rays is still a new establishment– I predict a long and fruitful life if the food stays this fantastic. If you havent been — GO! I may drive the 9 hours back to Mass just for another plate :)

We had lunch at Ray’s yesterday. We started off with a buffalo chicken artichoke dip that was delicious. My wife had a delicious turkey wrap and I had a turkey burger. We also had onion rings and sweet potato waffle fries that were delicious. Our waitress was great, the servings were generous and the atmosphere was very nice, up to and including the art on the wall. We’ll definitely be going back.

TR’s was great! Didn’t know it had opened. The pistachio cheesecake was incredible, as well as the buffalo artichoke dip! The service was friendly and the inside is cozy and clean. Great little spot to grab a bite. Great food!

I have had Rays catering several times before but had never been to the restaurant. Went last night and dinner was delicious! I love kale soup so I started with that. It was decent, lacking in kale and a little salty but over all good and helped my sore throat and cold! I love Ray’s steak tips, we had him cater some food for my daughters 2nd birthday and I ate so many steak tips that I ended up making myself sick, but I still crave them so often that I ordered it for my meal. They did not disappoint. I don’t understand how he makes them so flavorful but they are amazing. Cooked perfectly! I had mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli on the side. Broccoli was alright, nice that it was roasted and not steamed like most places. But the mashed potatoes were out of this world. I don’t think I’ve ever had mashed potatoes that were better than that. Also, the waitress brought us complementary fresh baked rolls soaked in bitter before our meals came out. Oh. My. Word. So delicious. I could eat those for breakfast lunch and dinner. I also got crème brûlée for a dessert, it was just ok. Ray’s not known for desserts but man those steak tips are amazing. My husband for the special, ribs and steak tips. I’m not a huge rib person(neither is he) but these ribs were amazing. The sauce was spot on and the ribs were so big and thick and the meat slid right off the none. The restaurant itself is nothing special, kind of like a hole in the wall. No bar, no TVs, no booths, just tables. But Ray is just starting out(the grand opening was in Dec) and I think it’s smart to start small and be known for your food, first. Great job Ray, as usual! Just before I started writing this I ate two tips cold out of the fridge and they’re still delicious!

We had such a great dinner here. Definitely try the bacon bread appetizer — never have had anything like that, so delicious. Also the chive polenta that came with the swordfish was good enough to eat as a meal. The service was great, I loved the pandora station they had on, and the food was truly delicious.
