We needed a place to have a convenient dinner. I met my family at the Manville Diner on a Wednesday night. There was plenty of street parking and no problem finding a seat is this small establishment. The servers are nice and attentive. My wife ordered stuffed cabbage and we ordered some burgers. My wife’s food was served cold and had to go back for a reheat. The burgers were cooked properly for our request and were okay. I got a Manville special which is smothered by bacon and fried onions. There was a familiar strong taste which was bitter and took me a bit of time to recognize. It was the taste of liver. Then I realized that liver was one of the specials that evening. They must have fried the onions on the same flat top as the liver and added an unwelcome taste to my food. Everyone else said their food was pretty plain. I cannot recommend the Manville Diner. I just couldn’t taste any love in the food. Liver, yes, I could taste that but no love.

With the Time to Eat and Bridgewater diners seemingly in a race to the bottom, the Manville Diner is our new go-to. The food is better, yet still cheaper than the other two. For breakfast, their Country Fried Steak is delicious, and for lunch, their Pastrami Reuben is a winner, with the tastiest pastrami around. The only problems — hence four stars instead of 5 — is that it’s small, so hard to get into at peak times; seating is limited to two– and four-top booths; and parking is limited. So, not the easiest place to get into, but worth it if you can!

My wife and I stopped here for my birthday breakfast. We are new to the area, so we’ve been trying different diners trying to find the one we like best. So far, this is our top choice. Our meal was fantastic. She got French Toast, and I got an omelette. Our portions were big, and well priced. Specifically, my wife commented on how much bacon she got with her meal… Usually she only gets a few pieces, today, it was at least eight by my count. All in all, we paid around $ 20 for our breakfast, including tip. These days, for this area of NJ, and for the amount of food we got, that’s a great value. The atmosphere was great. We love neighborhood type diners, and this completely fits the bill. Service was great as well. The staff was greeting regulars by name as they walked in. We will absolutely be coming here again.

The Food is AWESOME! I’ve been there several times. Try the zucchini sticks! However, beware of your soda REFILLS!!! The last time I went a new girl decided to charge me for each ice PACKED glass! I had 8 dollars of soda on my bill. Because she filled my glass with ice and barely any soda. Other than that, the other times I was very happy.

Place is dirty n the food is gross. Fork had dried food stuck on it and there was something floating in my daughters soda glass. Would never go back. Gross!

The perfect diner. Small. Quaint. Delicious. Cheap. Large Menu. Breakfast to Dinner food all day. We visited this place coming from 78 and the 15 min drive was well worth it.

This little hole in the wall is decorated so cute inside and the food is delicious. Such a cute quaint diner with excellent service. Ordered a belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and it really hit the spot. I was so pleased that the strawberries were actually FRESH and not those artificial ones with that god awful syrup gunk. Love it here.

Neither a dive or a 5-star restaurant, this very small old-ish neighborhood diner is a good place for bacon and eggs or a tuna melt. It has a real retro feel with the old steel dining car exterior and cramped interior space. It’s a reliable go-to of mine, and generally a bit cheaper than other area diners. Don’t go here for a fine dining experience. Go here for a sandwich and coffee and a piece of pie. Street parking, and it would be a challenge to sit more than four people at a table. Edit: I’m looking at the pic above, and I guess they’ve covered up the old steel exterior with a new façade. I’m not very observant!

The portions are huge and food is fresh. The turkey platter was Thanksgiving on a plate. The ribeye sandwich was a full steak with a Kaiser roll, onion rings, lettuce, tomato, onions, cole slaw and a side of fries. The cheesecakes were surprisingly delicious, too.

Very nice place to enjoy breakfast, the portions are very nice, you get more food for your money, and the quality is consistent. . It is a small place, so the seating is tight, but that adds to the atmosphere. . Down to earth place, nice and friendly workers.

The first thing I noticed was how small and cramped it is! Diners came from old boxcars and this sure feels like one! I had a craving for grilled cheese and I knew this would be one place in town that had it. The food was decent.

Amazing French toast. Good corn beef hash. They have a lot of that gross Polish senior’s people food that almost every Diner around here has, but what’re you gonna do… Get a burger! Those are good too. Not a bad diner at all.

Ah, the Manville diner. It’s a small joint located right on the corner of the block, and has that old train-car style feel to it. Mostly booths inside as well as a counter with stools. There isn’t much room within the booths, so beware. The menu has anything you’d expect at a diner. Burgers, sandwiches, specials.etc. NOTE: They occasionally have some polish items as specials that are so good. I’m guessing it’s related to Manville’s polish roots. Expect a massive portion, resulting in you bringing home leftovers for the next day. They pile the food on the plate. Prices are what you’d expect at a diner, but when you look at the size of the food you’re getting, it turns out to be a good value; especially the lunch specials. 4⁄5

As a response to the reviews which talk about the décor. No — this place is not brand new, but it is by no means run down. Its actually very reminiscent of the old 1940’s box car style diner, which I think is great. Most other diners in NJ seem to go for this tacky neon and chrome look — this place is a simple but fun ambiance. The owner is also the chef, and he seems to take pride in what he send out. I was amazed at the amount of food you get for the price — they are definitely not afraid to feed you. It was not a quantity over quality situation either — the food was GREAT. He also let us try a chocolate cheesecake which he made himself and it was amazing. The waitresses helped each other out and both had a smile on their face the entire time, very friendly. I will definitely be back!

5 stars for a good NJ diner. I have lived in NJ for 2 years an have been to multiple diners for a quick meal and have not been impressed by any EXCEPT this one! The servers were friendly and smiling throughout our entire meal here. I had the shrimp in a red sauce, served over spaghetti noodles with pieces of Greek cheese and fresh tomatoes. This also came with a salad– which was much larger, fresher, and had more veggies in it that your standard side salad. Also came with house made Greek dressing and fresh warm bread. Everything was fantastic!

The diner patrons are packed into a relatively small space, but it is not uncomfortable. The service is decent because the wait staff has no where else to go but be right on-top of you. The menu is traditional diner fare. The chicken soup was only ehh. The chicken souvlaki was ok, but not memorable. French friesare broad and bordering on crisp. I would return for breakfast. I bet they make god coffee.

Some of the comments written so far border on mean. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast this morning. It is an older diner and the décor is a bit dated but it does not look run down. Our waitress today was fine for any diner. I saw a second waitress who seemed to be doing a good job as well. At 9:30AM on a Friday, the place was packed. Just after we sat down, there was a line waiting for tables. I had my usual diner order — corned beef hash and eggs, with hash browns and toast. Food came out fast despite the crowd. Corned beef hash was OK and a huge portion. Plenty of hash browns which seemed to be cooked with way too little salt. I took half home for tomorrow. My wife’s eggs were fine. Coffee was OK and refills came promptly. Moderate prices; the bill came to $ 10.90 before the tip.
