Visited twice on vacation for lunch. 7 – 14&7 – 17. Well portioned sandwiches. Large chip bags. Very popular with locals and construction crews. Can be busy. Zip line to send orders to prep was cool. Would visit again for lunch.

We stopped into Big Al’s on a Wednesday at around 1230. We tried to go earlier in the week on Sunday but they were closed on the weekend from what their sign said; which was a bummer. Needless to say, I needed my Big Al’s fix. I have been coming to Big Al’s for at least the last 5 years whenever I visit the Island. I was told by a lot of the locals to give it a try back when and I’m glad I did. Big Al’s is your standard sandwich shop. Big sandwiches, neutral décor, family friendly and a good staff that is happy you are there. The girl at the counter was very upbeat and seemed like she enjoyed her job, definitely a plus going into any establishment. I have always gone for the large meatball sub and this time it was no different. The sub is HUGE, has homemade meatballs, red sauce and parmesan cheese. I’ll admit it seemed smaller then I remember the last time I went but man it is delicious and enough to put you to sleep. They serve Boar’s head meat and cheese selection which is wonderful, as my girlfriend’s sister enjoyed a roast beef sandwich, which she enjoyed. My girlfriend ordered the BLT which had some seriously good bacon. Overall, Big Al’s may not blow the socks off everyone but I feel like it is MUCH better idea to head here instead of any sub chain or fast food joint on the island. Good food, good people, good times.

The food is solid, however the wait for food is very long. Our wait was over 30 minutes after ordering for basic deli sandwiches

What is this place? Best BLT on the planet. There aren’t enough pigs to keep up with the bacon in this bad boy. Best chili in Florida. Big Al’s can’t enter any chili contests because there would be no more contests, everyone would go home in tears. Free drink refills. Very fast service. The nicest owners you can imagine. Always packed with local contractors, real estate agents, city employees, politicians, regular people, plus the occasional tourist or visitor smart enough to read Unilocal! So take the whole family. Show up anytime — most days you’ll have to wait in line, wow, all of 5 minutes max — order a great lunch, and eat in, or eat outside, or take out. Phone in your order if those 5 minutes are important to you, get it down to 1 minute. Lunch only, call before you go if it’s not in-season(they take extended vacations in August and September) or ask me. I have their schedule taped to my refrigerator.

Amazing sandwiches! Bread often makes it breaks a sandwich, and Big Al’s delivers. My wife, two young boys and I left completely satisfied.

Great stop for lunch. It was a bit pricey, but I thought totally worth it. I had an egg salad sandwich my husband had pastrami and we shared potato was all homemade, fresh, and good! Definetly recommend for a quick stop for lunch!

We were blown away by how good the salads and sandwiches were from this place. Prices are a little on the high side, ~$ 6 for a 6″, ~$ 10 for a 12″ sandwich… But it’s worth it. If you’re on Marco and want a serious sandwich, Big Al’s is the place to go.

Simply amazing. Always crowded on a weekday for lunch, so you might wait a little bit. The Reuban is my favorite and I have never had a better one. Small, deli-like, and quaint. I would recommend to anyone wanting a quality lunch sandwich.

Excellent sandwiches, soups and salads. Very popular. They use boar’s head meat. Big lunch crowd. You order your sandwich first and then sit and wai for them to call your number. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. You can also call ahead and order your sandwiches to go. Try the Sun Wrap(Turkey, sundried tomatoes and goat cheese melted)…very good! That being said… Way understaffed! One girl packs up orders, rings people up & takes phone orders. Phone orders never ready on time. This makes the Line ridiculous! Unorganized! Geez just hire someone in season!
