Not what we were expecting. While word-of-mouth led us to believe that this was a great spot, it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. The Ahi Tuna was fishy, the chicken was rubbery, and the service was average at best. I’d like to say I’d be open to giving it another shot, but as of now, I wouldn’t go back. There’s plenty of casual options on the island that do a much better job.

3 stars is kind of a stretch but so many restaurants on Marco are completely average and extremely overpriced — this at least was decent food. Service and ambiance are very good so you at least feel like you are somewhat getting your $ worth. Had the crab cakes and grouper. Crab cakes had a lot of filler — couldn’t taste crab meat at all. Grouper was nicely flavored — we all chose a different variety and Cajun was deemed the winner — mostly because grouper is so bland to begin with. The jalapeño sauce is good. Baked potatoes were only warm and tasted old — almost like it had been baked a day or two before and just warmed but barely. You only get butter and sour cream — no bacon or scallions — did we lose a war or something?

Mediocre. We ordered several appetizers to get a broad sampling of the menu. Never had such dense non tasty hummus before. Chef served it with black olives vs middle eastern olives and Nan Indian bread vs pita — it was all over the place. Calamari was bland no seasoning at all. It came with marinara sauce that chef put parmesan cheese on top of. More like pasta sauce, go figure. The chicken satay and pot stickers were fine but we literally didn’t finish anything. Very disappointing. High points were the delicious bread, service, pricing and deserts but I have to believe there are better places in the area to eat.

I ordered the grilled grouper and it was terrible. The fish had no flavor and looked like it had been frozen and expired. My stepfather ordered a filet mignon and when it first came out everything was cold including the inside of the meat. Thankfully the waitress was very nice and we were able to return the grouper and reheat the filet mignon. Unfortunately the grouper made me sick, but everyone else enjoyed their steaks.

We were a group of 5 on a weekend. Has an island/casual atmosphere, located in a small shopping center. The inside could use a little overhaul — seems like a restaurant that can’t decide if it wants to be a sports bar. The condensation from the a/c was dripping on one of our guests — so probably should have taken this as a «tap on the shoulder» to try some other place, but we stayed. The group ordered blackened grouper w/crab cake, pork chop, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, calamari, filet mignon, baked potatoes, cole slaw. By far the grouper was the best! Filet was cooked perfect, but had a different taste. Pork chop was tough and was returned and sub’d with the coconut shrimp. The calamari was a bunch of very fried batter with a hint of calamari seasoning. Fried shrimp was tempura batter and very good. The cole slaw perhaps was made with an onion juice base? Hey, we’re southern, you screwed this up! The main dishes came with garden salad — cherry tomatoes, cucumber, shreds of carrots and romaine lettuce(not my fav) kinda odd taste. Didn’t like the ranch dressing. Our waiter was good. There’s room for improvement for sure. For these prices I expect better quality food. Don’t think we will go back.

Tonights special was a great Salmon plate with keylime sauce and a choice of sides. Nice flavors. Desert a yummy fried cheesecake with icecream and trimmings. A cocktail suggested by the bartender that he could not make properly because there were no oranges. Really? Their tag line includes«take it slow». From cocktail to main course in about twelve minutes. When I mentioned this, I was told to eat slower. Really? Overall, a B+.

Had the seared ahi appetizer with an extra side of seaweed salad. Plenty of food for this old guy. Tuna was rolled in sesame and seared but nice and red on the middle. Huge portion compared to same dish down the street. Friendly and attentive service and an owner who is on the scene. No wonder it’s a local favorite fir over 20 years. Amanda and Jackie at the bar were great. Nice to feel at home as well as enjoying good food. Brought our own fish unique treatments and delicious came back for the seared ahi AGAIN!

I ordered shrimp scampi and usually you cannot go wrong with it, but for a first time I did wrong choice. It had no taste whatsoever, angel hair pasta was not even salted. My wife’s tortellini was good.

Average food, average atmosphere. We had the sampler seafood appetizer: sushi too chewy, not that great. Crab cakes: average. You kind of get the picture. Lots of TVs

Overall the experience was«ok». Absolutely nothing dreadful or amazing either way. We went on Sat for an early birthday dinner before another event on Marco(5:30) and had reservations for 8. We were seated promptly… Food: Cocomo Bread was delish! Only thing, you pay $ 3 to enjoy the same bread and olive oil you get for free at any Italian place. Calamari was generous in portion of the curly bodies, and tiny little rings. If you enjoy rubbery little O’s, this is your dish. He had the grouper fingers which were the highlight of the dinner! 4 small(but very fresh and tasty) pieces for $ 17.99. To be honest the grouper sandwich was just as tasty but your fish portion is much better value at $ 13.99. The caesar salad(yuck), overdressed in bland mayonnaise. Myself, I had what I can only say was a disappointment. Shrimp scampi… the garlic was the stuff that comes straight out of a jar, so much butter and oil that if there happened to be any wine, there was no flavor. The most odd part was there were literal chunks of fresh mozzarella tossed in the pasta, still somewhat cold. The shrimp were over cooked and tough. We took this home in a to go container… BIG mistake, the garlic from a jar stunk like«old farts» so badly we pulled over to throw it away. I really tried to like it… The Service was«meh». We were in a group of 8, and anything we needed we had to ask for it… no anticipation of our needs. But we were not ignored either. We were celebrating a birthday and the server’s response was so lackluster that we actually started to try to cheer her up. Again, I’d go back only if someone else picked this place. I wouldn’t pick it myself, plenty more places with great grouper.

This was possibly the worst restaurant experience ever. Let me start off by saying the service was great. The server was kind and accommodated all of our requests. Let’s get to the food… it had NOTASTE! None! There were six of us in my party and not a single one of us enjoyed our meals. The food looks like it’s pre packaged and most likely microwave blasted. It was so bland and they tried to cover that up by adding in garlic and spices that just didn’t work. Fix the food and this is an easy four star restaurant

Everyone in our party of five raved about their food and the friendly service. waitress staff is smashing! highs: lobster bisque, broiled and stuffed grouper. was tender and succulent. garlic mashed potato. big portions lows?: spicy crab roll isnt special. salad course very unexceptional, maybe fresh produce down in the panhandle isnt choice?

We had to get the tuna nachos! So good — it’s a must! We also tried the chicken lettuce wraps — also very good! We came in late so sat at the bar. Our bartender was very attentive. We love this place!

My family and I ate here twice on our week long trip to Marco, thinking the first time was a fluke, we tried it again. The first night we ate there for dinner, the fresh catch of the day was yellow snapper, 3 of us ordered that and my fiancées step father ordered the grouper sandwich, the waiter brings out snapper for all of us. My fiancées step father politely said that’s not what he ordered and literally, the waiter fought with him up and down. Yelling, stomping off, and making a scene. So we heard that when you go deep sea fishing they will cook your fresh fish, we went fishing and brought our fish to the restaurant to be prepared. I sat down, and under my feet was the biggest COCKROACH I had ever seen. Needless to say, on our trips to Marco island we will not be frequenting this establishment.

A casual atmosphere with delicious and reasonably-priced food. Really good service, fast timing, and the food is simply phenomenal. I got the spinach tortellini($ 20) which came with a side salad, and it was basically tortellini with spinach, chicken, shrimp, and the most amazing bacon-loaded sauce I have ever consumed. By far my favorite pasta dish in the world. Large portions but great for boxing up and eating later. Child-friendly, group friendly, and food-lover friendly

We ate here on our last night of vacation to Marco Island. This was our favorite restaurant that we visited all week, even though we went to «nicer» and more popular restaurants. The fried shrimp, sweet potato fries, fried onion rings and the chicken Caesar salad(blackened) were so delicious. We loved the peanut butter pie and the key lime pie. All the food was very fresh. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I wish we had discovered Cocomo’s earlier!

This is my first time writing a restaurant review even though I’ve been following reviews on Unilocal for years. Our dinner tonight at Cocomo’s finally motivated me to write something. First, we were meeting friends here and this restaurant was not our choice. We ordered: Calamari– tasteless, salt less and bland. Have had better calamari in Kansas!!! Buffalo shrimp– although the shrimp were large, they were soggy and lifeless. Tuna nachos– they only halfway decent thing we ate. Wait staff were nice but it doesn’t make up for VERY overpriced seafood. There are much better restaurants in Marco for a lot cheaper with WAY better food.
