Last night I tried to come to Maynard’s, like I do every Memorial Day weekend, and waited outside for 45 minutes while your douchebag bouncer was on a power trip yelling at 60+ people to get into a single file line. When I tried to oblige, he yelled at me «nobody cares no ones getting in until there’s a straight line.» The staff needs to be re-evaluated here because a hot head who didn’t want to admit he was at a loss, lost this bar over 300 $ that would have came from our group.

The bouncers here ruin the whole experience. What kind of owner hires such assholes. Avoid this place if you don’t like to be treated like shit by young douchebags.

I lived in the area for 55 years & always stop in for a drink and food when I visit. The last bastion of how Margate was while growing up. Hope the place remains and never updates.

It’s no wonder they’ve lost so much business over the years. Their staff actually admitted to us that they don’t care about or trust their customers(who says that?). Never seen anything like it. I’m amazed they’re still in business at all with that attitude. AVOIDATALLCOSTS.

Good atmosphere, ok food. Shitty service and rude people working there. For that reason I will not go back.

Food was disappointing, and the music was way too loud !!! Oysters were not cold which was worrisome. Made it hard to enjoy our dinner. Not a good fit for families!!!

Hey man, what happened to the bone loss tenders. Y Father never complains when he comes here but they looked different and we’re very hard. He won’t complain bc it’s the first time he disliked something and was so Hungary he ate most of it any way. Just bring back the tenders is all. For my Dad. He’s a local. Not a shoob like me.

The beer is cheap that is about the only thing good about this place. The food is basically overpriced bar food, and the bathrooms are disgusting. Stop glorifying crummy dive bars.

I live locally, so usually the summer time just brings more traffic and annoyances that go with out-of-towners. But the one plus is being able to meet new people, and this is the place to do it. Awesome spot for a local hang out, all year round. The sauce they use for their wings is good enough to bottle up and sell. If you’re not interested in the AC club scene, then this is the perfect place for you. Chill atmosphere, good people, decent location and good drinks = a win for this place.

We LOVE Maynards! After 5 summers in Margate we must say our favorite Margate spot is Maynards! It has delicious food, is kid friendly, amazing & friendly staff, and awesome entertainment! It’s a laid back island feel at the jersey shore. My fav are the«Lola» wings. Sweet & Spicy deliciousness. Good salads, Burgers, Steamers & Mussels! The night life is another level! The best part of Maynards is the staff who have become family. If you are in Margate head over to Maynards!!!

We were out in the pavilion for the ASPCA’s Yappy Hour fundraiser. Nice place but there was only one server outside(surprised since the event had a decent sized crowd) and he never came to our table. We had to go to bar to order a drink and we weren’t able to order any food. The menu looked decent enough for some bar food but we won’t know what it tasted like because there was no service. Oh well. Great time at Yappy a hour though!

The last place open from the old margate days. Sad. This place has always been great. I have no idea about the food. And I can’t tell u what then have on tap. I have no idea if the staff is good. I just know I used to love going here. The bathrooms are disgusting which is a great sign of a great bar

The iconic Maynard’s, wow, I am finally sitting in Manyards. So just about everyone I know has been here and has made some solid Shore memories. It reminds me of a favorite hat you might have had for many years. You love the hat, it is well worn, a little beat up, but still looks good and has seen so many adventures and good times that you proudly wear it and continue the tradition. There are definitely some fancier places in Margate; this place is for the every man. I could compare it to the OD in Sea Isle, or LaCosta, but it just isn’t. It is classier in an intangible way. It is hard to describe, it just is. The outside looks fun for the warmer months, you are right across from the bay, the inside has pool tables and a huge bar. It is for utilitarian drinking down near the water. The bartenders are great, Julie and Michelle, the beer is cold, and priced well. I did not have anything to eat, but the general atmosphere is a place in which I could see myself spending a lot of time. My cousin and his wife, Bill and Sarah T, were unofficially honored with the title of customers of the year. This is their go to place all summer. Bill and Sarah know a good time when they see one, and even though I have not yet experienced the full measure of the summer fun in this place, Bill and Sarah do not waste their free time or money on anything that is not top notch. Maynards is a 5 star place. It is not Tomatos, nor Sophia’s, it is Maynards, and it is everything it claims to be, an iconic and timeless meeting place for families and shore revelers.

Dive bar right on the water. Food is standard bar food and fried for the most part. Prices are cheap which is great. This place gets pretty lively and has live music most days starting at 6. However, until then it’s silent if someone isn’t dumping a dollar into the jukebox for 2 songs(1 song for newer music and music you search for).

Ah, Maynards. One of Margate’s legendary institutions. Situated along a stretch of bay front nicknamed the«Barbary Coast», it was originally one of the ‘dive bars’ that locals and shoobies alike frequented. Over the years, they’ve added a summer feature — the«Starliite Garden». In its’ early years, this was simply a bunch of tables made from recovered cable spindles with plastic chairs, tableware, and servers running food out from the inside bar. Supplies were stored in two shipping crates at the rear of the lot. We all joked that it could be packed up and made to disappear in 30 minutes should the health inspector come by. Over the years it’s gotten more and more legitimate, such that now they even advertise it’s presence, have permanent outside bars and kitchen. Gone are the cable spindle tables, replaced by bona fide plastic tables and chairs. For a few dishes you get actual dishes and silverware, otherwise it’s still paper plates and plasticware. It’s a popular spot, and on a recent Friday night the Rev. Dr. Steak and I found ourselves waiting for a table, listening to the local band do Jimmy Buffett and Van Morrison Covers(Quick: How do you tell the cover band is from Philly? «I got my toes in da wuuuddderr…») while kids danced, parents and grandparents clapped, and really drunk forty something and fifty somethings on the prowl raised their hands and sang off tune. Very loud place with the band playing, not an intimate-romantic conversation place at all. However, the loudness was all the good time, and the place had the atmosphere of one giant beach party. We were seated reasonably quickly by a spunky hostess and our server came quickly. We ordered burgers, fries, iced teas. No problem. Teas were oddly sweetened, not southern sweet tea, not quite peach. Not awful, but not expected. Served in plastic cups. Burgers were delish, fries were very good. People-watching was superb. $ 24 before tip, not bad for a Friday night on the coast. Cash only. It’s one of our ‘regular’ places at the beach and it has yet to disappoint.

Went for breakfast with my husband and dog! Again, HUGEPLUS — dog friendly! We had the crab eggs benedict and it was delicious. Service was awesome and another plus they have a Bloody Mary Bar! They give you the booze and you make your own with a lot of cool little things. We will definitely go back!

Worst jersey shore bar experience in my 27 years of existence. The bouncers are 19 and on a super power trip. It’s like their first day in the job and threaten to kick everyone out. It was super slow and it took 15 mins to get a drink. I’ve never experienced such poor service especially from such a low end bar. Like get your shit together. STAYAWAY.

Ok so the fact that this place is full douche bags and skanks is just the first off putting thing… It’s vile. Went to the inside bathroom, stinking of puke… Decided to go to the outside bathroom instead… Also a bad idea. No tp and toilet overflowing everywhere. Had to do the ‘peeing outside squat’ which I only did bc I had to go bad enough. I’d rather pee outside in front of a crowd. Moved to Tomatoes and would prefer to spend the extra cash to hang here. Never again ever.

What can I say about Maynard’s? The only vegan friendly thing on the menu is the fries. Their salads all have meat in them, & beyond that, not much more than weak iceberg lettuce. I didn’t ask if the fries were fried in the same oil as chicken tenders, so I’m going to just keep hoping for the best. We somehow(read: beer!) ended up there twice this weekend, and both waitresses’ reactions to my asking for a personalized flatbread were pretty much a hell no, though they both, «somehow,» got it done anyway(the 2nd one more grudgingly than the first, though to be fair, I wasn’t super friendly in the way I said, «but they did it for me just 2 days ago!»). Whatever. I wasn’t there for the food anyway. Beer was good both nights. Live music was great both nights. But c’mon now, it’s 2013, try to at least pretend to care about your vegan & food allergic customers.

Maynards was a nice little, divy’sh bar where we felt right at home. Beers were $ 1.50, that’s right Yuengling too which is awesome. The bar itself was huge and service was really fast. There are 2 pool tables to play a fun game and talk about the waitress your friend met at Tomatoes. Maynards has a small kitchen attached to it where we ordered a small reasonably priced snack from. It was an awesome grilled ham and swiss. «A» LOVED it «M» had no clue, cause like we said the beers were only $ 1.50. Go here.
