Oysters prepared just right! Definitely lives up to the name. Wife and I enjoyed the great service as well. Looking forward to another visit.

I had the burger — good meat, well cooked! The fries are delicious and the staff is attentive and friendly. The bar is well stocked and the atmosphere is great! Definitely would recommend for both dates and casual outings with friends.

Nope! I can say with certainty that I won’t be back based on the customer service, or lack there of, from the bartender. It took him FOREVER before he asked us what we wanted to drink. We waited very patiently. I could see that the bar was busy and I’m certainly willing to wait my turn, but it doesn’t take much to acknowledge your customers when they sit down and to let them know that you see them. A couple of words can go a long way. But to absolutely ignore people is unacceptable. I cannot speak of the quality of food since we were never able to place our order. The bartender didn’t even seem interested. Absolutely zero personality. My first and last experience with Shuckers. And honestly I doubt I’ll try Tipsy Taco or Johnny’s(all owned by the same person) because of my experience here.

I absolutely love the food. The prices are so reasonable. The seafood is so fresh. They have a great guy shucking oysters behind bar. NICK the bartender/manager is awesome. We have been going since it opened I’ve never had a bad meal. It’s one of the best restaurants in Margate if not the best!!!

My boyfriend and I went for lunch on a Sunday as part of their restaurant week special and they were offering us the dinner menu as well. We both chose the three course meal. I had the stew and he had broiled seafood platter. We also ordered other appetizers and oyster(only $ 1.50 each). Great fresh food! I have to say it’s better than Harry’s on the board walk(comparing their clam bake to this stew here). Friendly service. Good atmosphere. Drinks were on point. I would definitely come back here when I’m back in AC.

Been here several times this summer and enjoyed the food/service/ambience. Friday night Labor Day weekend was quite disappointing. Started with New England Clam chowder — it tasted like it just came out of a can! We then had Mussels Diablo. The sauce was thin, watery and didn’t have much taste. Then we had Alaskan King Crabs. The shells were soft and they did not taste fresh. Frozen maybe? For a seafood restaurant in the season the food needs to be fresh and well prepared. Don’t know what happened here but it was not at all up to par and we will not return!

Was in OCNJ with the family at the beach, decided we wanted to hit some fresh seafood. Searched Unilocal and we chose Shuckers. 15 minutes later we were at a table. We wanted to try a little of everything so we ordered a good Amount of food. Started with the N.E. Clam chowder. Lots of clams is the only good thing i can say about it. Seems like they didn’t cook out the flour enough so it Tasted«gummy ». Also ordered the fried oysters. They were really big and seemed to be fried well until I took a bite. The breading is VERY heavy and totally overpowers The oyster. There could be anything in that batter and you wouldn’t know the difference. Why go through all the trouble of bringing in fresh seafood if your gonna coat it in some think overpowering batter. There’s s way to fry seafood and this sure the bell isn’t it. Also very disappointed that there isn’t any non seafood items for kids. My daughter was relegated to pasta with«butter sauce«which basically means a spoon of butter on dry noodles. We also ordered the fried grouper sandwich, it came coated with that heavy terrible batter so it wasn’t good. I took the batter off and the fish itself seemed decent. Really wish I got it grilled instead. We ordered the seafood tower as well. It’s very pretty looking but none of the seafood had any flavor at all. was totally bland and not what we Expected. I gave it 2 stars for service and ambiance, but the food itself was subpar on every level and we won’t be going back. If u happen to end up here DONOT order the fried items … I’m actually still Hungry so I’m gonna grab a sandwich lol

I really enjoyed this restaurant! I will definitely head back I wanna try some crabs! If you love seafood this place is a must at the Jersey Shore… The atmosphere is great and this place was clean! We sat out on the deck and it was a perfect day in Margate NJ … The service was exceptional The she-crab soup was yummy and spicy and the salad wedge was fresh and the dressing was amazing… We shared the littleneck steamers, u peel shrimp, and raw oysters… All were great! Shrimp were a little over cooked but at least they were fresh! The crab cake sandwich was tasty and the homemade potato chips were nice and crunchy The beer was cold and hit the spot on a summer day Enjoy!

My girlfriend and I went to Shuckers for my birthday dinner after spending the day in Ocean City. I grew up going to the Crab Trab restaurant but was dissuaded by some recent Unilocal reviews. Shuckers was the perfect alternative. We arrived around 615pm and were seated immediately. Another plus is they valet your car. Dinner was awesome. 79 bucks for a massive amount of food-Combo platter with flounder, scallops, shrimp, crab cake, and broccoli– a Dungeness crab-and a plate of fish and chips with fries instead. They also threw in a delicious brownie sundae for my birthday. Food came out quick and hot. Tyler took care of us. Will definitely go back. Try Shuckers over the crab trap, you won’t be disappointed.

Wanted to try something other than Steve and Cookies on this night — FAIL. It was something out of the SNL skit«Night at the Roxbury» Very loud club music for an very empty bar/restaurant. Manager doing a peacock dance all around the cute bartender — both of whom have forgotten they were working. We sit down and wait about 5 mintues to be tended to. I order a glass of wine(heavy pour — thank you for that) and one glass of water. We get menus and wait… and wait… and wait … and wait some more … and watch her talk to the manager — the other employees — the manager again — he pours himself a drink — we wait some more. … oh wait — I think I got her attention. We order — Caesar salad with shrimp and crab and an order of mussels in red sauce. We ask if the caesar was enough for 2. She says yes. We get this«salad enough for 2» and it’s literally 2 pieces of romaine ripped in big pieces, 3 shrimp and a clump of crab. To add insult to injury — they use powdered cheese. I don’t even want to tell you what we paid for this«salad big enough for 2» but it should have been a salad for 5 with that price. Mussels were on the small side — sauce was very salty(my eyes were all shriveled up after about an hour). We asked for bread and received very stale french bread slices that have been greased up on both sides. — so stale I can’t even break it in half. I need another glass of wine and my gf a glass of water. We wait and wait and wait and watch this peacock dance again and watch the manager grab some more alcohol for himself and we finally get the bartenders attention. She promptly gives me a glass of wine and forgets my gf’s water. She stays parched for a good 30 minutes. All and all, I’d never go back — food was horrible and service was atrocious.

My fiancé and I ate at shuckers last Saturday night. We have been here once before and know that they don’t take reservations… soooo be prepared to wait during the summer weekends. They have a bar inside where you can grab drinks, which is what we did. We waited 45 minutes and then ate on the side deck. They have oyster crackers on the table but no tongs/serving piece to take them out with, which I thought was weird. So everyone puts their hands in the container? Hmm. Anyway, we ordered the Mediterranean salad(large shrimp, tuna, fresh crab meat plus veggies on lettuce). The salad was large and big enough to share. We then ate the seafood stew in red sauce(mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp, scallops, lobster). The sauce was very good(could have drank it… or dipped my bread in it if I wanted to splurge a little). Good food, fun atmosphere, long wait.

Great seafood at fair prices. No reservations first come first serve so come early or late. If not be prepared to wait. You may be lucky and snag a seat at the bar during prime time. Either way good eats, fresh oysters and all the seafood you can eat without breaking the bank. A must in Margate

I was very pleasantly surprised by how decently priced Shuckers was. When ever I go out to seafood I expect high prices but 26 dollars for a 1 ¼ lb lobster?! I went on a Sunday night and I must say for a day when everyone is leaving the shore they were still pretty busy. We decided to sit at the bar for immediate service. The bartenders seemed a little scattered. It took them a while to take our order and refill my water and we were served by 2 different bar tenders. However, when I found a small broken off stick in my lobster when I was more than half way finished they offered to give me another one. They were more than willing to do everything possible to make sure we had a great experience. This place may be one of my favorite seafood places in the area. Will definitely be going back soon.

Large group with no reservations on a Sunday night. We had great service tried all the appetizers and found they style of service fit our group very well. Had the salads fish tacos and crab cake sandwiches for dinner. A line formed while we enjoyed our dinner. The mango margaritas top the list… The ONLY comment on improving the experience would be on the music…“techno club at 6pm”…we had a chuckle . Will happily return.

Stopped at this place when I was down the shore. The shore seems to have a lot of mediocre restaurants so this was a good find. Great ambiance, tons of outdoor seating, and no reservation needed. Prices are relatively reasonable for seafood down the shore. Service was fine but our appetizers did come out rather quickly which was good. For appetizers, we shared mussels, shrimp cocktail, and coconut shrimp which was plenty for 4 people. Fantastic coconut shrimp: perfectly crispy and good dipping sauce. The other appetizers were decent enough. I got the lobster roll for my entrée and a side of mac n cheese. The kaiser roll of the lobster roll was almost stale so I just ate the lobster inside which was well seasoned. The mac n cheese was surprisingly good. My boyfriend got the seafood stew which had shrimp, scallops, lobster, clams, and a bunch of other seafood in a broth. I tried a shrimp and scallop — both were amazing! If I return, I’d get that again as it seems like the standout entrée here. All in all, a good spot for a relaxing seafood dinner down the shore.

This place was quite good! I feel like it can be hard to find good dinner places in OC area and this was one recommended to us – I’m glad we took the advice. We had the grilled lobster special, Alaskan king crab legs, she-crab soup, New England clam chowder, garlicky shrimp, and the brownie sundae(we got stuck because of the rain, but if that sundae was our punishment I’ll gladly do it again!). The soups were not my favorite thing, I’ll admit, but the shrimp was out of this world! The crab and lobster were perfectly cooked and I’ve already raved about the dessert. I’m only giving 4 stars because for what we paid for the crab they could have thrown in a side of slaw or half an ear of corn – that stuff is cheap. This is a «booty short» shop – pretty much every server is a cute young thing home from college in booty shorts, but they are nice girls. The guys(also cute young things home from college) tend to bring you your food. A little weird, but whatever gets them tips, I guess.

This place is great! Now because it is great & there are no reservations taken its best to get there early or on a week night. Food is delicious they have a daily flatbread and a variety of seafood. The seafood tower is gorgeous and plentiful! We visit Shuckers as much as we can!

Stopped in for dinner. They had a really nice crowd. Waitstaff was very attentive. Started with the mussels and she crab soup… so good! We had the broiled seafood combination, lobster tacos, and«triple tails»(stuffed lobster tails) for dinner. And it’s hard to say which was best! They were all so good! Laid back atmosphere, fast service and GREAT seafood! Highly recommend.
