Double Take Café is a nice, little BBQ place in Marietta Square. They’re next to Kiosco, on the South side, near the railroad tracks. They are open for lunch only on Tuesdays and Sundays. They are closed Monday. They have a simple menu. I tried their Smokin’ Sammich. It comes with some home-made pickles in a jar. It also comes with a huge pile of tater tots. The bun looked okay. But in between the buns, they give you a ton of meat. I tried their smoked pork sammich. It was pretty good. I thought the pork was tender and had great flavor on them. The sandwich comes with tater tots and slaw. The tater tots were okay. They give you a ton of tots. In fact, it’s so much, it spills out of the plate sometimes. I’m not a big fan of tots in general. I wished we could choose the side for our sandwich. They also had slaw that came with my sandwich. I liked the slaw. It had a nice, tangy taste to it. I liked the pickles they gave with my meal. That was a nice touch. The portions seemed generous. They were a very friendly bunch as well. It’s another nice place to eat lunch at Marietta Square.

My fiancé and I happened upon this place tonight after looking up restaurants on Unilocal. We saw that it had five stars with twenty reviews and simply couldn’t resist. It definitely lives up to all the hype. It’s tucked inside a little nook behind the Marietta pizza company. With its artsy feel, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff it was the perfect place for dinner. We ordered pretty quickly and received our beverages right away. We passed the time asking each other trivia questions that they provide on each table and in no time our food was ready. I ordered the beer battered beef stew and Luke ordered the brisket sammich with yellow sauce(they have white, yellow and red) with a side of cole slaw and tots. They even gave us home made pickles that were so delicious that I had to get the recipe! All of the food was cooked to perfection and tasted like heaven on a plate. My beef stew was super tasty and Luke’s brisket was the best I have ever tasted. The tater tots were phenomenal, the spices that were on them made them extra scrumptious and coupled with the white sauce… Let’s just say they didn’t last long between the two of us. The best part of the meal was dessert. We split their apple cobbler with what had to be home made whipped cream and caramel sauce and it was gone before we could blink. I would go back just for the cobbler. It was THATGOOD! Besides the food, the staff was amazing. They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and well taken care of. This place is a hidden gem of deliciousness and I highly recommend you stop by and try it! You won’t be disappointed.

Short version: these guys have southern bbq dishes with a creative twist, excellent service, and good value for money. Highlights: for me, having people at a restaurant that can tell me where they get the ingredients of their food, and the subtle differences between their sauces is invaluable. From the minute we sat down we were treated like friends. Loaded tots appetizer were huge, even for 4 people. We ordered one app, 3 entrees for our group of 4 and a few sides, and we left with full takeout boxes. Quality of meat was unbeatable, 3 types of bbq sauce are brought to the table so everyone gets what they want. Best parts for me were the grits, which were coarse ground and made with herb infused cream, and the pumpernickel bread pudding. Just going that extra mile to use a special grind on those grits was perfect! Texture was amazing. I liked the grits so much, they sold me a package of them from their supply, since they source them locally and get them ground extra coarse, I’d never have found these at home. That’s customer service! Atmosphere is super casual, friendly, and clean. Next day we fried eggs on top of our leftovers and had some great bbq hash! Room for improvement: they don’t have a beer and wine license yet, but said it’s coming next year. 2 of our party loved the collard greens, 2 didn’t care for them. They were sweet and spicy, I prefer mine just bitter and buttery. This is an example of their creative twist on traditional dishes which isn’t even a con, it just means you’re doing something brave. But don’t pick this place if you can only eat things the same way you have seem them prepared elsewhere.

Great food, cozy atmosphere. Everyone was really nice. Ordered the BBQ Pork sandwich with cole slaw and tater tots(and bread pudding to go). Prior to my order coming out, they served homemade cut pickles that still had just a slight cucumber taste. Everything tasted great and the portion sizes were generous. The bun was big enough that I thought I should probably just eat the meat and leave all the bread, but it was a very delicious bun! Prices weren’t dirt cheap, but moderately priced for the quality/quantity. They were trying out some new menu items when I was there, and I had just ordered off the menu. It probably wouldn’t have hurt to ask if they had any specials, because it looked really good too.

Some of the best collard greens and potato salad I have ever had. And the owners were so hospitable. This would be a great place to reach out to for catering a casual get-together.

All the things I look for in a restaurant I want to share with all my friends and family… Locally owned. Eclectic decorations. Amazing entrees. Excellent desserts. Friendly waitstaff. I wholeheartedly recommend the butter bean hummus as a starter. The BBQ pork sandwich with the gold sauce is my favorite. You will get more tots than you know to do with. The collards are also great. They put a bit of sriracha in it which give them a nice kick.

Toni got me hooked on DTC’s Tater Tots when she shared them with me at the Marietta Wine Market. Last week I got a order of loaded tots. BJ even walked them over to the shop for a group of us to share. OMG They were delicious. Plenty for the four of us. Paired well with a red wine we were sipping on. Best Tots on the Square !

Ehhh. Our orders were: brisket«sammich» and grilled cheese. They sandwich comes tossed in one of their three(color coded) sauces. I chose the«Carolina gold» mustard sauce and regretted it. There was zero depth to the flavor of the sauce and I might as well have poured plain yellow mustard all over what would have been good brisket. I had to ditch half the bun too because it was monstrous. The grilled cheese was ok but again, there was too much bread and the ingredients did not come together very nicely. They tried for an out of the box grilled cheese and came up a little short. We asked for samples of the other sauces since I wasn’t impressed with the gold sauce. The white and red sauces were equally boring. While offering a variety of colors, the sauces left a lot to be desired. I don’t necessarily ask that bbq sauce is spicy, but I do want something with a lot of FLAVOR. These lacked big time on flavor of any kind. Finally to go along with our average food, the dining experience was not helped by the people that worked there. Unfortunately I could smell our waiter’s sour breath from across the table. And since it was a slow night we were the only people in the already tiny dining room. It was only made to feel smaller by the employees sitting talking really really loudly a few tables away. I wanted to like this place but the food and experience were very average. I probably will not be back.

We love this place! Intimate, simple menu but not simple entrees. Great service, great art, cool location, and huge servings. 3 of us went and had 3 different«sammiches» and we all had leftovers. The pulled pork was to die for… The chef Stoney was out talking to us. We had a wonderful evening and dining experience. No room for desserts but they had great specials on those.

Let me start by saying… I really do not care for anything related to BBQ… that being said, I was very, very impressed and happily surprised with the unique taste of DTC! Not only does DTC give regular BBQ a run for it’s money,…but they truly have given their take on BBQ a pizzaz that I feel was missing from EVERYBBQ place I’ve ever had!!! Truly a savoring and tantalizing experience for your taste buds! They also have an amazing assortment of desserts that change frequently, which is nice in my opinion. Specially since dessert can sometimes be the perfect way to end a meal! You’re constantly surprised at what they are cooking up for that day!!! What I Ordered: Their Pig Sty(which is one of their specials).OMG.my tastebuds were very much appreciative of the amazingly sweet and tangy taste of the pulled pork and the sweet potato combo! It comes with a wonderful dollop of Sour Cream, and I ordered mine with chives. AMAZING! Also. if you are any kind of baked potato person… you’ll absolutely love this! I like sweet potatoes, but have never been obsessed… this has changed my outlook on a very seriously underrated food! The mixture between something so simply, with an American Classic(pulled pork) is a wonderful change to the typical food. Highly recommend as an entrée, VERY filling! I also ordered their Farmer’s Favorite Salad with HOMEMADE ranch! …THEBESTHOMEMADERANCHDRESSING/STORE BOUGHT(lol) RANCH I have ever tasted! And I love some Ranch!!! What was even more wonderful about this delicious experience was the subtle, yet perfect amount of ranch on the salad. It was just enough to allow you to not only appreciate the ranch, but also the salad ta boot! For anyone who can also appreciate a «beautiful salad,» this too will make you happy with all the colors! Desset…(keep in mind I don’t have a big sweet tooth) All I can say is… if you don’t order dessert(even if it’s just for togo)…you’re truly doing a disservice to yourself!!! TRULY!!! The ambiance is very laid back, and welcoming! A great place for a family lunch/dinner to a great party! The location is kind of a hole in the wall, but those are usually the best. and it does not disappoint! The staff is simply amazing! Very welcoming and polite! One of my favorite touches most of all… is they have a little book shelf of books you can enjoy while you’re there, along with Trivial Pursuit on every table. I though this was a WONDERFULANDREFRESHING take, to your typical communication at dinner. I feel it gives you the opportunity to really enjoy your surroundings and to get off your phone and have fun! We will DEFINITELYBEBACK!!!

These guys are amazing! The bbq sandwich was spot on and the staff was extremely friendly. I also loved the atmosphere and local art on display. The homemade pickles are worth coming back for alone, as well as the fried mac-n-cheese balls

This small BBQ is just a few doors from the pizzeria on Marrietta Square… It’s in the old Kiosco bakery. The ambiance is bright, casual and fun. There are about half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside too. The place was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their choices. I ordered BBQ plate to go. I opted for brisket(you can choose chicken or pork also) with tater tots(in lieu of beans) and Texas toast. See my pictures for their menu /add’l offerings. Their brisket is braised not smoked and you can choose sauces(NC mustard/vinegar, GA red or Bama white). The co-owner was friendly and was welcoming. He was very accommodating to allow my substitution of tater tots and gave me all 3 sauces b/c I couldn’t decide. It was just over $ 12 with taxes and the amount of quality edibles I got — the price is reasonable. The beef was tender and lean… perfect with the sauces. The tots — OMG — so comforting crisp on the outside and soft in the inside… I think I ate a dozen before I got to the square. Their portions are generous and DTC uses quality ingredients. Texas toast — they told me that they use Plugra. I’ll be back to try their chicken and pork and more tots. So yummy! DTC is worth a try if you are a carnivore like me. Powder Spring street off of Marietta Square is great with MPC, wine shop, Kiosco and now an awesome BBQ.

On Sunday afternoon, we had the Caesar and the Farmer’s Favorite Salads, both with some of the best smoked chicken either of us had tasted in quite some time. The salads were incredibly fresh and beautiful, and extraordinarily flavorful without being overly intense. The smoked chicken prepared fresh daily in the kitchen(according to the Owners who were kind enough to take care of us personally) is amazing. I would order it by the pound. Amazing new fun spot just off the Marietta Square, great staff, and did I mention the food was WONDERFUL. Will return many times!

There are no pictures because I ate everything; the housemade pickles, Mac & Cheese fritters, and farmhouse salad with pulled chicken, everything. Barely stopped to chat with my boyfriend as I shoveled the deliciousness into my mouth. I even tasted a few of his tots and snagged bite of pulled pork in GA red bbq sauce. The seasoning on the tots makes them special, the meats were tender and flavorful. The salad has fresh greens & shaved vegetables making it crunch delightfully against the silky pulled chicken. I couldn’t figure out a way to save room for dessert, but the descriptions made me salivate. I’ll have to come back & try them soon.
