My first trip there today. Ordered the«infamous» brown pig. Absolutely delicious! Ordered very berry pie and a pound of the brown pig meat plus a container full of coleslaw. Their BBQ sauce is awesome! Love it! Will become a regular!

This is such a great Family Restaurant. Everyone is Family when you visit and being able to create the same memories of my childhood for my child now is super special. I always«try» to rotate around the menu because everything is great! but as always when you eat at The Brown Pig it’s practically sacrilege Not to order A Brown Pig! I’ve noticed a lot of the kids describe the hot dogs as «sweet like candy» so how can you complain about a candy hotdog! You are always greeted by all the staff members when you walk in the door and don’t be surprised if half the customers also welcome you. The food service is fast, freshly made and always hot. Save room for pie!

I have not personally visited Neely’s, but a friend drove through Marshall, TX on the way home from a camping trip and brought me home some to try. She brought me 3 Brown Pigs. I ate one right after the 4 hour car ride back to town, and the other 2 a few hours later for dinner. I give them 5⁄5 stars even after the drive. They survived the car ride and were still amazing. Good cold and after being microwaved.

I stopped in today for the brown pig sandwich and fries. service was friendly and fast. The sandwich was great and the fries were perfect. I used to eat here 20 years ago when I lived in the area. I’m glad I stopped in — it’s still good food.

Updating my local reviews, and see that this is one of hte ones that has been the longest without an update. That’s probably not a coincidence as time almost seems to stand still at this venerable local institution. The sandwiches haven’t changed in the 47 years of so that I’ve been eating here, and that is a good thing.(But note that I said«ALMOST stands still — unfortunately they no longer serve buttermilk as a beverage. A change much for the worse, IMHO.) The Brown Pig is still the go to dish, but they also make a good hamburger. Not much variety on the menu, but when the star attraction is as good as this, you don’t mess with success.

I grew up in Marshall and didn’t take advantage of this gem nearly enough. The brown pig is my favorite sandwich, every time I’m in town, I have a brown pig. If you passing through stop for a brown pig.

Unilocal thrills again! On the road, out of our area, needing a good bite of lunch… I read Stephanie’s review to my momma and decided we needed to give Neely’s a try! I’m so glad we did! Everything was delicious… Miss Francene and Miss Crystal couldn’t have been sweeter hostesses and we took pecan pie for the road! It is easy to see why this is a favorite in the area… here is hoping for another 87 successful years for Neely’s. PS gave my momma a playful slap on the shoulder when we got back in the car and said«aren’t you glad for Unilocal?!» ;)

The special BROWNPIG sandwich was yummy. It is basically pulled pork on a bun. The size of the sandwich is small, which gives the opportunity to try more :) They have some really good pies as well.

In town visiting my fiancé family and we stop buy to pick up a couple of brown pigs(pork BBQ sandwich). The hours are alittle unusual but nice to see its a family own business that makes you feel like family. They have been open for 85 yrs and after eating there and their customer service it’s understandable why. I recommend that if you near Marshall that you must stop by and get a brown pig.

My family and I have been eating here since before I was born! Always good food, always friendly people. You’ll want to order two ‘brown pigs’ though. they’re not real, real big and they’re just THAT good! Add a side of chili cheese fries and a dr. pepper… mmm mmm. make ya wanna slap ya momma, good!

While technically a BBQ joint, Neely’s is anything but typical. Their signature«brown pig» is a smoked pulled pork on a bun, dressed with the secret pig sauce, topped with shredded lettuce. The finishing touch is that the bun is spread with real mayo. Other offerings include a tasty burger, and other more typical BBQ fare. Do not let the outside appearance fool you, the pig has withstood the test of time for a reason!

For what it is– a super simple road side stop– it has great food and the friendliest people on the planet. I had the brown pig salad and it lived up to the hype. Great spot for a quick bite.

This is a Marshall institution. The quality of the pulled pork really isn’t that good and the portions are tiny. BUT… it is inexpensive and a part of local history. Give it a try!

It’s a small place and many locals order to go from the outside window. Inside we were greeted by friendly waitresses who called everyone«sugar» or «darlin.» The Brown Pig sandwich is not big and we quickly ordered a second with jalapenos on the side. A wonderful East Texas lunch served up by friendly people!

Come to Neely’s and get a Brown Pig — you need to get some barbecue at the same place as Hank Williams and Willie Nelson. The food here is great — and I say that as a person who doesn’t really like barbecue all that much. The sandwhich is like a cross between a Texas style barbeuce and maybe a Memphis style barbecue. Although they serve beef, they are famous for pork and put cole slaw on the sandwhiches, like in the South. I can’t wait to come back and try the Frito Pie!
