Had dinner here last night with my family. I have to commend the one guy who works as a cashier, busboy and server all at the same time. He’s helpful and friendly. We ordered 3 mega chicken, one gyro(don’t remember what kind my son got), shrimp dish with rice and salad, two garlic feta fries, iced tea and 3 bottled water. I’m not the type who eats fries a lot but their garlic feta fries were delicious! My order of mega chicken was good, too. The plate of shrimp with rice and salad was just okay, not memorable at all. Our dinner came up to almost $ 100. This place is tiny. There are only a few tables outside, none inside, so when they’re all taken, you have to eat in your car. Parking can be a problem.

After going through Unilocal for a Mediterranean food spot that’s not my usual The Mediterranean, Yanni’s popped up with great reviews. I was greeted with cheerful employees who were helpful and really friendly. I ordered the chicken kabob plate that comes with rice and salad. But you can always mix and match the sides with fries, all salads, etc — the options are endless! So filling! But not in the«I feel like lard» feeling — the chicken was super tender and seasoned perfectly. The rice had a hint of lemon and the salad was served with olives and a delicious dressing. The plate was more than enough for sharing too! The food and employees are really great, but it was SOHOT inside! It was about 113 degrees outside and it didn’t seem like there was any aircon :(I would order for take out next time I visit.

Really surprised I haven’t written a review yet. Found this place once I moved to Martinez, about 4 months ago and I LOVEIT! The employees(owners?) are extremely friendly. The food is always delicious. Just discovered that they’re opening a spot up in concord near Todos Santos, which makes me happy for them! I get chicken gyros or chicken over rice with veggies. So. Good. Must try!

I came here for lunch the other day. Three stars for the super friendly staff but the food was disappointing. I love gyros but this one was lack luster on the flavor. I have eaten way better gyros from the food trucks in Oakland.

This place is incredible. The people who run it are great. They even stayed open late as we showed up at 8 thinking it was open till 9. Ive had Gyros all over the world including Greece and Yanni’s is my favorite. If youre looking for a fantastic Gyro you found it.

It’s my favorite Greek restaurant! They are so tiny, but so good. They only have two tables, and a couple of outside tables, so it isn’t a great place to take the whole family for a sit-down dinner. But I highly recommend it for a quick bite or take out. They make the best falafel I have ever had.

I got the classic Gyro, left off tomatoes and added lettuce. Thought it was good but not the best greek food I’ve ever had. I think Kebab Burger in Lafyette is better. The gyro was very filling and I did not need any sides. The meat was lacking flavor in my opinion. And to sit inside the restaurant seemed uncomfortable. For a filling lunch to go seemed to fit the bill but not a place I can imagine myself craving.

Fantastic authentic gyros! Best I’ve had in the area. And probably the the best balaclava I’ve ever had. Zero ambiance, more of a take out place. Owners are very nice.

We had a subpar experience here. The soup was nothing more than a lemony chicken broth. I have had Avgolemono Soup at lots of places and this was by far the most disappointing version I have ever had. No rice — nothing. The gyro lacked tzatziki and the tomatoes were old and rubbery. We were not at all impressed.

Some of the best Greek food you can find in the Bay Area. The classic gyro is incredible and even my children love all the food here(their favorite is the kebabs). The baklava is house-made as well and a favorite of my wife. All-in-all, Yanni’s is a nice little hole-in-the-wall that is great for lunch or dinner. Expect limited seating with a majority of the tables outside. Very friendly staff here. They even have us pay after we finish eating!

First time back in a year Wasn’t impressed the flavor quality and texture of the lamb/beef in the mega gyro(pita, meat, veggies) we ordered wasn’t nearly as tasty as I remember. Requested the gyro cooked with no oil as we used to– was told either use oil or veggies will be served raw. –the amount of vegetables were scarce and the veggies were drenched in oil. Our gyros came with salad and rice –They forgot the feta on the salad there was a small amount of feta on the gyro along with the Tatziki sauce. –Tatziki Sauce and the side of Lemon rice pilaf were tasty. The entire pita was dipped in oil then grilled wasn’t a fan and didn’t eat Our last visit was far less oily and the gyro was much more flavorful

I am a fan of Yanni!!! My coworker and I come here during lunch. The gyros are typically around $ 7. Their garlic feta fries are to die for. They cooked our meal right on the spot and the cashier brought our order to us as we sat outside. The gyro was filled with flavor and very generous. Overall, this is DELICIOUS Greek food!

I’d probably do 3.5 stars if I could but bumping to 4 stars isn’t a stretch. They have great greek food. The portion sizes are decent and the chef is accommodating, we don’t eat bread so we got some dolmades with hummus. The gyro meat is great, though a little salty. With the platter you get rice and some sauteed vegetables. This is well seasoned and definitely filling. I enjoyed the dolmades as well. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here. There are not very many tables here though there are more outside than inside. Probably best for takeout but there is space if you want to stay.

Best gyro I’ve had since leaving the east coast, where good gyros are in abundance. Stop in for a mega and you’ll be just as hooked as I am. Highest ratio of lamb/beef in the bay most likely. Don’t be afraid to take home a few skewers while you’re at it. You will NOT regret it! P. S. You don’t pay until your order is ready, so don’t go pulling out your wallet after you’ve ordered like a newb. Order your piece of Mediterranean heaven like a pro. Now, go!

Very yummy food, nice staff! They always cook your order as you are waiting so you know it is fresh and hot. They have killer baklava! They use fresh veggies, rice, meat. They give you generous portions. Very small place. About 2 – 3 small table outside and 1 or 2 inside. Most people get it to go. Parking can be a pain if the Gym next door is packed.

Hands down the best Greek restaurant I have been to, and it makes me question why I have not been here sooner! I’ve always been a fan of Greek food for its fresh, lean and vegetable-focused eats… I’ve frequented other Greek restaurants in the area, but didn’t know this one was right down the street across from Virginia Hills. And boy, do they do Greek food right here! Everything is made fresh to order. The friendly woman and man team seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. If you order in, the lady is kind enough to bring the order right to you. The gyros typically go for around $ 7. I initially settled on the Veggie Gyro and made it a plate, which has the option of added salad and rice or fries. I opted for the side salad and upgraded my fries to the Garlic Feta Fries, since I’ve only heard rave reviews about them. Their gyros are definitely one of a kind. Generously sized and PACKED with flavor. Best yet – made FRESH. For a Veggie Gyro, the vegetables were nicely sautéed and fried, with some feta and fresh tomatoes in it… It’s packed enough to make it DRIP(just like those Carl’s Jr. ads, you know it’s good)! The Garlic Feta Fries are delicious – not too garlicky and not too heavy on the feta, just a noticeable feta flavor with a hint of garlic to taste. The fries are also nice and crispy with a good bite to them. The side salad is the perfect complement to freshen up the meal. I am usually way full after eating and can’t finish my gyro in one sitting. Overall, I love this place. They deliver some of the most DELICIOUS and fresh Greek food. Apart from the local Pleasant Hill chains Yalla Mediterranean and Gotta Eatta Pita(both decent but both quick-service and not authentic) to Walnut Creek’s Babalou’s(which is delicious as well), this has got to be the BEST Greek food I’ve had in the area. Friendly staff, small little window space, but a quick, tasty meal that’s worth the price and taste… I’d choose this as my staple Greek offering in the area any day.

It is not often that I have Greek food, so I would not say that I am really one to rate it with strong conviction or a refined taste. I got the mega gyro and thought that it was really tasty. It is very large and filling. Also got the side of pita and hummus which was tasty as well, but could have used more pita for $ 3.50. The owners are very friendly and aim to please. It is not cheap, but it is tasty. What did I learn today? Just a bit of a heads up, you have to eat it hunch-style so that the grease does not get on your clothes or down your arms.

I love lamb. Dont think of consequences. I love lamb. I ordered the Lamb Skewer’s with rice and salad. It sounded good and from the Unilocal photos it seemed a great choice. I then ordered it and it smelled amazing!!! Did I mention that I’m a lover of lamb?! While it was cooking it smelled amazing. And then I got it in a to go box and it was fantastically delicious! The rice alone was one of the best things I’ve ever had in my mouth to date. However, the salad was bland and the dressing was way too sour. What ever they did to the lamb they had it nailed and it was so goooooood!
