Wild child gallery is loaded with wonderful artists, too bad the owner is a complete monster. Just in my own observation, I noticed that the owner not only verbally abusing her employees, but her artists and customers. Not to mention the racked up prices on artwork. don’t be fooled, she may put on a nice face, but it’s your wallet that she really wants.

Artist and artwork, great! Owner of the gallery Peggy McTeague, most unprofessional business owner/employer out there! Don’t get fooled by her mask she puts on when you come visit this place. Absolutely not a local business you should support. She has no sympathy for anyone unless you got big bucks to spend. In this case the Devil does wear Prada…

One of my favorite galleries in Matlacha. Unlike some of the others, this one seems to be filled with artists creating art inspired by their passions as opposed to art made to sell. On this visit I was especially taken by painter Mimi Little’s work. Every piece had a unique quality, yet her style is distinct. I also love how good this place smells! Every time…

We visited about every shop/gallery in Matlacha, and Wildchild was the one that won my heart, and that I would return to in a heartbeat. Read: this is an art gallery, not a souvenir shop. While you can certainly buy souvenirs here, and while there might be an item for every budget(although less selection for lower-budgets). this place seems to be an «Artisan First» location and the prices reflect that. They carry a great variety of both the realistic & the whimsy end of the art spectrum. I wish I had had more time to browse, & now that I am back home, I wish I had made a small purchase. The staff was«kind of friendly,» yet seemed a little self-absorbed, so this is one offer for improvement. If I’m back in the Matlacha area, I would definitely return to Wildchild Gallery to see what their current selection is.

When you visit SWFL make sure you take a trip down Pine Island Road! Every building is painted and decorated, with this being one of the most extravagant. Art from several different artists and use of several different mediums is displayed. Come on a nice day and they may even have artists out working in the back! Although it is pricey, it is beautiful to walk through and gander. Make sure you pick up some lovely smelling home-made soap that they sell. Try«Trippy Hippie» — it is our personal fave! We have a family member ship it to us regularly since we live up North and can’t visit the shop as often as we’d like.

This art gallery represent a variety of artists. Some of it is kitschy Island Art, but a lot of it is very nice. There is a variety of media, such as pottery, paintings, jewelry, and wood inlay. I saw one piece made of recycled scrap metal that I rather liked but was about $ 100 than I could possibly pay. They do have some cheaper pieces and jewelry, so if you are only stopping in one place on Matlacha I would recommend this one.

WildChild was my favorite gallery in Matlacha, sporting a plentitude of art and artists. The place is happily cluttered with lots of gorgeous art from serious to whimsical. I found it hard to move for want of looking at everything. The clerk was very knowledgeable about the stock and the stories that come with the art. Prices were high(and rightly so) for some original pieces. Their website can give you a preview

Pricey art gallery for the area. Many paintings, jewelry. Some pottery. Owners are a little pretentious. Nice items.
