I tried this place last week and I got the jerk chicken lunch which came with sauce on the side, rice and peas(beans), and cabbage. The rice and peas as its called was very good and so was the cabbage. The jerk chicken was dry and small pieces of meat. I am mixed about my feelings about this place. I miss the Jamaican food in LA cause the Jamaicans can really throw down there in LA. This place in Matteson didn’t even have festival bread and gave me one hard piece of wheat bread which I threw away. I am not going back there either. I think I will try the other Carribean food on 159th on route 6 between south holland and markham next time.

I’ve seen this place for a while since I live nearby and finally decided to give it a try. The customer service could’ve been better. I say that because the woman was behind the window eating her food, seen me come in, greeted me… but didn’t come take my order until she took another 3 – 4 bites of her food. I ordered the jerk wing dinner. it was great! Best jerk rice I’ve had. Plantains perfectly cooked. I will be returning. Best Jerk Chicken in the south burbs. I hope the Customer service is better the next time around.

please check your food before you leave I spent $ 35.93 I ordered 1 shrimp dinner 1 chicken dinner and 3 piece catfish. I was asked what side item I wanted I asked for yams for my shrimp and yams was printed on the receipt I didn’t get my yams. I called and was told the shrimp has onions and peppers so that’s my side item. At least when they did not put the yams in my bag because it was a mistake as they say at least inform me and apologize at that time and I honestly would have bought an order. Also grub hub says $ 14 the store charged $ 15. I had my heart set on some yams and nope didn’t get them. Honestly that’s why I decided to order from them because they served yams otherwise I would have ate at another restaurant. After putting up a fuss I was told to come back and get them but then my food would be cold and nasty. I was told his son made the mistake. The chicken and fish was good though that’s the reason for 2 stars even though I’ve gotten more chicken at other restaurants you got more plain train and Mac and cheese than meat for a half but it was good though. The shrimp was just ok boiled taste with jerk sauce put on them. Maybe I shouldn’t compare their shrimp to jerk villa because there’s are the best and for the American price you get to chooses your own 2 sides and the shrimp has peppers and onions even if ordered ala cart. Despite the fact I didn’t get the side I definitely would not order the shrimp again even if I did. I should have just waited and tried ya mon like others had suggested at least there I wouldn’t have expected yams because they don’t serve them. If I do order from here again it would definitely be out of pure desperation. I know I should probably give them another chance but probably not. Also they were pretty empty but you won’t keep customers when you try to be skimpy with items. Portions too small for the price. Maybe you should move to the Gold Coast where it could possibly be expected. Well ya mon. Here I come with my money. I apologize for not listening to everyone else. Wish my experience was more pleasant. So potential customers: Check your order. restaurant: please communicate especially when you charge someone and print it on the receipt if it does not come with it say something that’s how you lose trust and patrons.

True, this place isn’t much of a sit-in, dine for two. First visit: The whole jerk chicken is good. Comes with side sauce and Jamaican hard tack bread(thicker consistency of white bread, great for dipping in sauce). Ordered small cabbage(which they got down pat) and small beans and rice. Order was around $ 18. Service, on the other hand, is sub par. Second visit: They say they open at 11, however, the owner came out and asked if we could give him 10 minutes so they could set up. That was fine. But when we walked in at 11:40, they said the cabbage was not ready,(so we couldn’t order that) and the whole chicken was also not ready(only ½ dark chicken). The whole would take 1 hr to cook. 1 hr! The food is good, but not THAT good to wait for an hour. Head down the street and drive a little further to Ya Mon. They’ll have your food out, better quality, with a smile.

This place has the worst service, the food was awful and if you complain to the women who work there, they will become rude and disrespectful. WORSTPLACEEVER. Too many other places to eat than waste your time and money here. POORCUSTOMERSERVICE.

Contrary to what everyone else has said, the people in this place were super polite. They were singing and having a nice time. I appreciated the authentic feel. Plus, they have Ting. I will add that the jerk chicken was awesome. Their sauce has a citrus taste to it that I loved with a great kick of heat to it. Very enjoyable. I wish it was closer because I would be a regular.

It was a long day for both of us and on the way home decided to try this place. It’s small and it doesn’t have a warm or inviting feel to it. Small tables if you want to dine in. We decided to take it home. We both got the jerk chicken dark and asked for the candied yams for our side. They were out of that as well as the mac-n-cheese, which was our second option. This was a bit disappointing. The lady behind the counter finally said that they only had cabbage, corn and string beans for the sides. We decided to get the corn. We liked the spiciness of the sauce that came on the side, but it is in a small container for the dinner size. The chicken is good and so was the rice and beans. The corn was from a can with seasoning, but it wasn’t bad. My husband was missing his plaintain, but wasn’t too upset because he has never had it before.

I am writing this review based on poor SERVICE alone prior to even tasting the food. I just happen to be traveling through the area and saw the restaurant and figured«I’d give it a try» for lunch and support a small business. I showed up prior to 3pm and waited in line behind a person paying for his order. Even by the time I got to the front of the line my AT&T iPhone 6 said 2:59 but I was refused the ability to order from the lunch menus(which ends at 3pm). It’s not even the fact that I was refused the ability to order off the lunch menu as much as the dismissive way that the person«helping me» turned me off. A different lady brought me my food and she was at least more cordial… Little does the restaurant know that I am a medical sales rep and could have easily brought them additional business on service alone but now am hesitant to do so… If I weren’t so hungry I would have walked out the restaurant yet even still I gave them a chance and order the dinner combo. It would have to be darn right amazing for me to return as there are too many small businesses to frequent in Chicago that actually get service right. Sincerely, First experience expectations not met

I’ve been here once or twice. The lady upfront barely spoke a word to me. The food is good but I prefer Carribean Delight which is closer to home and tastes more like the food I grew up on in a Jamacian household.

I phoned in my order and I walked into the place for the 1st time and it looked vacant. I stood inside for about 5 minutes before anyone came to the front. The service pretty much suck. The lady never looked at me or even barely spoke to me. I ordered 6 jerk wings for $ 6.75 and the wings were very small. I could put a wing in the palm of my hand and close my hand. You can tell they were old and had no meat on them. I paid almost $ 7 for a peace of old bread and old dried out wings. We also ordered brown stew chicken that had 2 small legs and 2 small thighs that was poured over the rice and beans and it was mostly chicken skin. It was really gross and I will never come here again nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. This place needs to be shut down ASAP. The food is not edible. Its pre-cooked and chicken taste like it was at least 5 days old. GROSS!!!

I’m not Jamaican, but I love the food! I had a taste so I stopped at JJF after seeing it every time I’m on Lincoln Highway. Upon entering the takeout place, the worker greeted me with this rude remark, using vulgar language(the f-bomb) What kind of customer service skills is that? And what sensible person with manners greets a customer like that? Of course, I’m going to look indecisive entering into a new take-out restaurant. I know I looked the worker’s age, but come on! People just don’t not come there for good, but for good service as well. If he was trying to flirt with me, he failed! The only reason I didn’t walk out because I was very hungry! The only reason I’ll go back is for the food, but I might consider going elsewhere.

PROS Food is delicious. Seems authentic CONS dine-in is not a good option. if you dine-in, they serve your meal in a to-go box with a plastic fork. For the price, this should change. Sauce comes in the tiniest plastic container. You dont get much, even with the dinner portion. They charge for extra. PRICE : Lunch seems to be the best time to visit. They won’t honor lunch specials even if youre one minute past 3pm. Dinner was a bit pricey.

Excellent Jamaican food, easily one of my top three in Chicagoland. I knew I was in for something good when the jerk aroma hit me in the parking lot from 20 feet away. When I first try a new Jamaican place, I always order the jerk chicken with rice and peas to kind of gauge the quality of the rest of the menu. Everything was fresh and delicious. The chicken was right off the grill, and the jerk rub had just the right amount of heat to it. The rice and peas were tasty and a perfect complement to the protein. The restaurant is pretty small, and there are a couple tables and some chairs, but they’re pretty much just an afterthought. In my opinion, Jamaican Jerk Flavors is meant as a take out spot. The food came out pretty fast, but I wasn’t really in any rush as it was pure velvet to my ears listening to the owners speaking to each other in Patois. I’m definitely stopping in again next time I’m in the south burbs and checking out the oxtail.

The restaurant put out flyers on everyone’s vehicle in the parking lot, so I figured today I would order some food. Well it would be nice if they’d answer the phone so customers could put in orders. I’ve called 5 times already and their business phone keeps ringing. Mind you the place opens at 11am. The message keeps saying,“please enter your remote access code”. Forget it! I don’t have the patience.

If possible I would give this restaurant zero stars. The good review for this restaurant must be from a family member. The food was horrible. I ordered jerk tilapia, and it was burned almost to a char, the macaroni and cheese is Kraft mac & cheese, and the rice and peas were the worst I have ever tasted. The rice was topped with a slimy gravy that was not at all appetizing. I would not recommend this place, I threw up everything I had eaten after a few bites. Initially I thought I might have gotten sick b/c I was allergic to an ingredient in the food, but I called the restaurant following getting ill, and the owner/cook told me the items I am allergic too are not in their ingredients. Seeing as though no allergens were in the food, that means this place is just disgusting and probably unsanitary. He offered no apology or concern when I told him I had gotten ill after eating not even half of the food. The service was also poor, the guy that took my order could hardly provide details regarding the menu b/c he was indulging in a piece of fruit, and they are overpriced compared to the other Jamaican restaurants in the area. I only tried this place b/c of a certificate from I will never return– beware. Please save yourself the headache and head to Ya Mon’s Jamaican Cuisine right down the street on 183rd Cicero!

Maurice and his brother are the best. I ate there twice in two days, while visiting the area. Curried goat once and then jerk chicken. Great rice and beans. Jamaican ginger beer. The real deal.

Do not sleep on this gem. This restaurant was a great surprise for me. The food was finger linking good. The jerk spices were not over powering. Selections are prepared quick and fresh. The service was good and the small restaurant was clean. Looking forward to my next visit after church in the south suburbs.

Go here now! There are only a handful of Jamaican restaurants in the south suburbs and this is the best and most authentic. I’ve sampled them all. Unfortunately, the places out there have a reputation for cutting corners. Serving only grilled chicken without jerk seasoning or passing off ZATARINS as rice and peas… Not at Jamaican Jerk Flavors. The jerk sauce could be spicier but its still a solid jerk sauce. The rice and peas are amazing and a meal within itself. REAL rice and peas cooked with love, NOT from a box! The chicken is always grilled to perfection and apparently marinated. It is a family run business. The boys work the front and dad is in the back working his magic *literally. Ting is also sold here. There’s plenty of parking too.
