My family had to deal with the dealership about a year and a half ago and it was the worst experience ever.
I luckily have a great car now but with no thanks to them.
If you want a place that messes up getting the title, never transfers the plates over and results in you getting pulled over, a car that is essentially a lemon and lasts hardly any time after buying it, and a terribly rude owner then look no further. My whole family would never come back to this establishment that pulls the wool over people’s eyes.

Came in the shop at 7:30am (30 mins before appt time) because I was nearby. I made an appointment in advance the previous week. Matt was very nice and promptly asked what I needed; even though, I was thirty minutes early. He introduced himself, asked me to wait patiently, and took my key in order to perform an oil change. 30 minutes later my oil was completed and he told me few things to be aware of on my car. He didn’t tell me these things to get more money out of me, he told me so I could be prepared. I just moved into town and this business seems very honest, dependable, and gave quality work. I will be back with other vehicles. I recommend this business. The waiting lobby was very clean and air conditioning was comfortable.

Here’s a crazy business model for an auto repair shop: make your customers super-​loyal, not by being the cheapest in town, but being the most honest and competent in town. These guys are the best. If your car doesn’t need work, they will (wait for it, this is crazy) TELL you that it doesn’t need work instead of just happily taking your money for unnecessary work. Great example from this week: I went in to have my oil changed, my A/​C recharged, and my cabin air filters replaced. Matt checked out my car and said this: 1) «It’s too soon for an oil change, save your money and wait til August.» (I drive my car very little, so I often forget when it needs to have the oil changed, since you have to go by time and not miles in the case of vehicles only driven a few thousand miles a year.) 2) I know it’s really hot right now, and that makes it *seem* like the A/​C isn’t working as it should, but in fact it’s blowing at 40 degrees, which is better than my car, so don’t waste your money.
That is a very typical experience with both Matt and Andy. It’s happened a few times in the three years since I moved to Matthews and started going there. And the upside to this honest approach (for both them and me) is that when they tell me I do need something done, I absolutely and completely trust them, as when recently my wife’s car needed a valve cover gasket replaced. (It also helped that Andy took me back and showed me exactly where the cover gasket was starting to pull away from the bottom, resulting in the early stage of what would have become a nasty oil leak.) The other upside for them is that, as long as I live here, I will never, ever take my care anywhere else. They are not the cheapest, but they are the best and the most honest, so you could offer me 50% off their prices and I wouldn’t even be tempted to go elsewhere.
Don’t take your car anywhere else if you are within 15 miles of these guys.

I had my first experience with the Matthews Motor Company today, and I was impressed. I had called them this morning because my car had a tire that wouldn’t stay inflated. Needed a patch really soon before it caused an accident. They invited me right over, but I was a bit worried because it seemed like they were really busy. I dropped the car with them and sat down in the lobby. No more than 15 minutes later, I was driving off with my car, and the tire was all patched up. Best of all, they wouldn’t charge me for the outstanding service. I’m sure that the next time I have a need for a mechanic, I’ll check out these guys first. Class A establishment.

I stopped in for a free oil change because I received a coupon in the mail, welcoming me to the neighborhood. I could not pass up this $ 35 value. I was able to schedule an appointment one hour after calling. That was great! When I arrived, I could’t figure out where to park my car because the bays are not visible. I ended up parking in the lot, which was the right place. I walked in the side door and again was confused about where I should go. I just walked around until I figured it out. They should definetly cut a window into the lobby wall, so customers can see where to go.
Finally, I start waiting on my oil change. After waiting about 50 minutes, I was informed that they did have a filter for my car. They sent someone to get the filter, but I ended up waiting 1 hr & 10 minutes for a standard change. I wasn’t upset only because it was Free! The next day I realized my oil light wasn’t reset. I had to go back later to get it reset (waste of time and gas). They could have been resetting the light while they were waiting on the filter.
I may go back just because the employees were nice, convenient location and I was able to get an appoinment quickly.

I had my car detailed here, and the result was impressive. Beyond cleaning, waxing, polishing, and vacuuming every nook and cranny, they ALSO fixed a torn pocked on the back of my seat — at no extra charge. I highly recommend the personal service this company.

I am adding to my review, based on the good response from Matthews Motor Co. Since I posted my previous review (see below), Andy at MM Co has worked very hard to meet my request to finalize the title paperwork for the vehicle I paid for in full 10 weeks ago. I am now satisfied, and I would recommend MM Co to my friends. I am very impressed with the response and actions of MM Co since the time of my initial complaint. Problems happen, and the mark of a true professional is how you respond to those problems.
