I’ve turned into a beach snob. I suppose there could be worse things in life…
Ukumehame is a great place to set up camp for the day. Let’s talk about the pro’s:
–Space and conditions for surfing, SUP’ing and swimming.
–Beautiful ocean views
–Great place to watch surfers
–Clear water… sometimes we see turtles
–Lots of space to spread out
–Lots of beach to walk and explore
–Porta-​potty on site.
–Perfect sunset spot
Let’s talk about the cons:
–Limited parking (small lot, does fill up fast. Can park along Pali (highway) though.)
–Limited shade. It can get really hot so having shade to retreat to is nice.
–Can get really windy in the afternoon. If you bring a beach umbrella, keep an eye on it.
–No shower. It’s nice to wash off that sand.
–Can be loud with the traffic right there.
If you are looking for a place on the west side, this is a pretty rad beach.

This cute little beach features picnic tables, barbecues, and the all important port a potty.
That said the tables and barbecues are in not the best shape but still very usable. On this, our last evening of our two week stay, we elected to pull off the main highway in order to catch our last sunset.
We weren’t alone many folks pulled of to catch the last glimpse of the sun that day. Good place to get close to the water and snap a few shots before it’s too late.
